Amanda Lee Weddings’s Capsule Collection of Peranakan Inspired Wedding Dresses

Amanda Lee Weddings introduces a capsule collection of delightfully romantic and modern Peranakan inspired wedding dresses for today’s brides.

Known for her romantic and lightweight creations, Amanda Lee Weddings is back to wow us with a capsule collection of Peranakan inspired wedding dresses for the modern bride, showcased in a whimsical and airy styled shoot by Hellofromflour and Iki Company.

Named Songs of the South, Amanda Lee Weddings’s capsule collection of Peranakan inspired wedding dresses features two wedding gowns and three light and airy tops reminiscent of the baju kebaya, a translucent, embroidered blouse made of lightweight fabric. The tops, a puffy sleeve blouse and two whimsical capes can be worn over the two dresses interchangeably to achieve a different look.

To express the essence of the Peranakan culture, Hellofromflour styled the set with a delicate touch and modernised detailing of the Peranakan elements through forms and colour cohesion, a perfect complement to the light and airy dresses in the collection.

Inspired by the modern brides with Peranakan heritage in their family line, Amanda Lee wanted to create modern wedding dresses with a hint of Peranakan culture to bring her brides closer to their Peranakan heritage. At the same time, she also wanted to make sure that brides are able to maintain poise while being comfortable in their own skin by using lots of soft and light fabrics in this collection.

The dresses feature light lace corset that offers both structure and breathability, a fitted skirt that doesn’t restrict movement and an outer layer that is designed to give flutters and flatters by conforming the torso traditionally. While this capsule collection is full of stand-out pieces, it is undeniable that the whimsical cape with fuchsia pink lace grabs our attention the most. The use of bold colour appliqué on white not only pays a subtle tribute to the baju kebaya, but also brings back Amanda Lee’s signature look when she first debuted.

Soft, whimsical and romantic, the dresses in Songs of The South are perfect for modern brides who seek to express their Peranakan heritage without compromising on style or comfort during their wedding, or brides who are seeking contemporary outfits that are both timeless, elegant and romantic at the same time.

Songs of The South is now available at Amanda Lee Weddings’s boutique at 8 Jalan Kilang Barat #06-02 Singapore 159351. Book an appointment to view the collection via email or contact them at +65 9361 2131.
