Kryz Uy and Slater Young’s Stunning New Zealand Pre-Wedding with OneThreeOneFour
International influencer Kryz Uy and her fiance ex-actor Slater Young immortalised their love atop the breathtaking Roy’s Peak in New Zealand, with OneThreeOneFour taking care of all the trip details!
International influencer couple Kryz Uy, 28, Social Media Content Creator and author of www.kryzuy.com, and Slater Young, 35, Engineer and Entrepreneur, thought of each other as “bad news” when they first met, but when they finally spent some time alone together, they felt strangely connected. The beautiful couple recently got engaged, and took a helicopter to New Zealand for a stunning pre-wedding photography session with OneThreeOneFour, where they flew to the top of Roy’s Peak in Wanaka, and met with fluffy alpacas for the first time!
Tell us a little bit about your story, such as how the two of you met.
Kryz: Both Slater and I come from the small city of Cebu, Philippines. We met through some common friends when he used to be an actor, but we really did not hit it off then. In fact, we honestly disliked each other at the beginning. He thought I was too high maintenance, and I thought he was too arrogant. Whenever we were together, some kind of drama always ended up unfolding. We thought of each other as “bad news.”
But life happens. One day, we got to spend time together alone, and we strangely felt so connected. It was as if I was talking to myself. Our values were so in sync, we thought the same way, we finished each others’ sentences—it was so easy. So we tried it out, and life has never been better.
What made you fall in love with your partner?
Kryz: I love that he’s so genuine and unapologetic about himself. He doesn’t try to please anyone, or to be cool or liked. He is just himself—humble and unassuming but incredibly smart and passionate. I respect him so much, and that is a value I think all couples need to have. It’s so easy to love someone you respect.
What was the proposal like?
Kryz: We had a trip to Niseko with our friends and he took the opportunity to pop the question. We had never talked about getting engaged so I was taken off guard and did not know what to say (or think!). Fortunately, I had it in me to say yes!
Where did you go for your beautiful engagement session?
Kryz: New Zealand is a place that perfectly exemplifies the qualities of our love: easy, effortless, beautiful. We don’t need to try too hard, nor need to prove anything.
We went all around Queenstown before the pre-wedding shoot, but settled on Roy’s Peak in Wanaka, Arrowtown, and Skippers Road for the photos.
Roy’s Peak in Wanaka is stunning. We rode a helicopter to get to the peak and it just took our breath away. It’s a mountain overlooking a large body of water with surrounding mountains and it’s absolutely indescribable. We felt so small in this big and beautiful world! We were so overwhelmed by the beauty of the place and so happy we got to experience it together.
Skippers Road was a bit dangerous—in fact, it’s one of the most dangerous roads in the world. I think it was also a great place to visit because our love at the start was kind of dangerous haha. I don’t want to get into it, but let’s just say we survived both that part of our relationship and the photoshoot!
With your busy schedules, how did you plan your destination shoot?
Kryz: It was so easy! Slater and I flew to Queenstown specifically to shoot our pre-wedding photography with OneThreeOneFour. They took care of everything for us, including the photographer (who was already based in New Zealand), bridal gowns, flowers, hair and makeup, accommodation, and our itinerary for the shoot, and I’m super thankful for that.
It’s so convenient for a bride not to have to plan an additional event like this. Since Slater and I are up to our necks in things to do, we really appreciated not having to manage this shoot, and not having to fly anyone else in but ourselves. We saved so much time and money by opting to go with OneThreeOneFour! The experience was also top quality, and I highly recommend them for pre-wedding photos abroad because they’ve just been so easy to plan everything with!
