Sweet Anticipation: A Tender and Dreamy Styled Shoot by The Wedding Present
This tender and dreamy styled shoot by The Wedding Present captures a bride waiting in sweet anticipation for her groom.
When The Wedding Present shared their beautiful styled shoot with us, we fell completely in love with its romantic and muted colour palette and dreamy mood. Inspired by the idea of an elopement, the styled shoot gently captures the private moments experienced by a bride as she awaits her love.
“We were intrigued by the idea of an elopement, and a bride waiting for her groom in sweet anticipation of their new life together,” shares The Wedding Present. The designers chose light and airy gowns with a touch of whimsy from their new collection to echo the free spirit of an elopement.
“The trend these days is for outdoor weddings, but we live in a tropical country, and heavy gowns in our humidity can be very uncomfortable for brides,” they say. “We feel that a bride should be able to enjoy her wedding without the weather getting her down, so we created an entire range of light and airy gowns with unique materials sourced locally and from overseas. We wanted to show that light and airy gowns can be flowy or voluminous, dreamy or elegant.”
The beautiful gowns in the shoot are crafted from ethereal, light fabrics such as tulle and lace. Blush tones and polka dot patterns give the tulle gowns a fresh look, while unique techniques such as structuring an adorable off-shoulder, or delicately pleating tulle on lace, give The Wedding Present’s gowns their signature whimsical flair.
To accessorise, the model wore dreamy and whimsical pieces with gold leaves and intricate details, crafted by Gioielli. Makeup Pros gave the model a soft look for the concept. “We decided to go with glowing, fresh-faced makeup with soft wavy hair to complement the beautiful accessories by Gioielli.”
The styled shoot aimed to capture the gentle moments of anticipation before a bride meets her groom. Med Karlek Inc. and Keira Floral created those tender moments through soft textures and muted tones. “We wanted textures to be the centre of the design, so the materials we brought in were more tactile,” they share. “Even for the floral arrangements, we pulled together arrangements that were clean but textural.”
The backdrop was romantically draped in blush and grey, accented with natural-toned macrame and pampas grass. A bed dressed in the grey watercolour “Drizzling Rain” sheets by Sunday Bedding created a cosy space for the couple. Florals in earth tones and organic shapes by Keira Floral added colour and texture, and a two-tier cake finished with royal icing and eucalyptus and mimosa by Winter Sage completed the set. “With this cake we went for the ‘less is more’ concept—a simple cake that won’t overshadow the bride or her beautiful outfits,” share Winter Sage.
The whole styled shoot was beautifully captured by Wanderlust Dreams Photography in a natural and emotional style to reflect the concept’s dreamy mood. With the shoot, the creative team hope to inspire couples to embrace new colour palettes and more natural styles when it comes to wedding styling. “We hope that more couples would be willing to try out different tones and colour combinations,” say Med Karlek Inc. “Earth tones aren’t new on the block but still many are not receptive of this palette. We hope to see more couples step out of their comfort zone to experiment with new ideas.”
Inspired and want to see how it all came together? Watch Alanmitchi’s video for behind-the-scenes! “We wanted to create a behind the scenes type of video that not only captures the beautiful theme created by the team but also pay tribute all the vendors and show them in their element,” they share.
