Designer Feature: Monique Lhuillier Spring 2018 Bridal Collection

The Monique Lhuillier Spring 2018 bridal collection harkens back to the traditional sense of ceremony that such an occasion inspires, yet softens the looks with Lhuillier’s signature blush and champagne palette and clouds of tulle.

The Monique Lhuillier Spring 2018 bridal collection debuted on 21 April 2017 at the Weill Music Room in Carnegie Hall, New York. Fresh off the runway, the collection features traditional silhouettes as this season, Lhuillier focuses on the formality and significance of the wedding occasion. Timeless ball gowns and mermaid silhouettes walked down the runway with all the sense of ceremony that a bride should feel on her once-in-a-lifetime, while softened with the romance and femininity that is Lhuillier’s signature.

Voluminous ball gowns are graced with ethereal lace delicately trailing the collarbones and down the arms, and simple silhouettes hold an air of regality with rich textures and embroidered florals, Lhuillier paints her romantic aesthetic in dusty shades of blush, rose gold, latte, and cappuccino. Polka-dotted tulle and Chantilly lace create sheer, shimmering capes, diaphanous skirts and sweeping, dramatic trains.

Along with the timeless sweetheart neckline are scalloped lace collars, fluttering boleros, and a web of pearls that anoint bare shoulders. Sculpted bodices bare skin with gossamer lace, while glittering trellises of vines and hand-cut lace flowers adorn feminine silhouettes. Sleek figure-hugging satin with a sharply plunging neckline blossom into soft clouds of tulle in a beautiful contrast. Exaggerated peplums and cascading ruffles add a dash of modernity to Lhuiller’s brand of romance, softened with cloud-like tulle and wisps of lace.

The Monique Lhuillier Spring 2018 collection gives brides a taste of courtly romance in Lhuillier’s signature tulle-softened silhouettes and delicately blushing palette. Dramatic and ceremonious, this season’s gowns recall the timeless significance of a wedding occasion.
