Victoria and Kris’ Breathtaking Bali Wedding with an Overwater Aisle
Victoria and Kris tied the knot in a spectacular Bali wedding, where the bride walked down a dramatic floating aisle in the middle of the pool against the stunning ocean views atop a cliff in Uluwatu.
Victoria Emerton-Jones, 29, Office Manager and Kris Emerton-Jones, 33, Director met in the UK before moving to Singapore together. The couple tied the knot on 21 May 2016 in a spectacular, intimate wedding in Uluwatu, Bali, where Victoria walked down a dramatic floating aisle in the middle of the pool against the stunning cliffside ocean views.
How did the two of you meet?
Kris: I actually spotted Victoria on a picture that was on my colleagues computer screen at work when we were living over in the UK! I then arranged to meet Victoria through the friend and thankfully we hit it off straight away. After four months of dating Victoria landed a job in Singapore and then I quit my job and followed her out 6 months later. We’ve now been together for over 8 years and got married in May 2016 after 8 years together after a 2 year engagement. I don’t think there was any turning point in deciding to get married – we wanted everything to be perfect so we took our time – we’re both delighted that we did!
What drew you to each other?
Victoria: We think that at the start, we had a lot in common. We’re both very sporty and outgoing. Kris was an absolute charmer! We do think we are pretty different though, and with that we bring the complete package and complement each other. We’re each other’s biggest fan and partner in crime. Moving to Asia is not easy, and we’ve overcome some massive obstacles, and both changed a lot over the past eight years. We couldn’t imagine being married to anyone else.
What was the proposal like?
Kris: April 19 is a special date for us. It was the date we first met. We planned a staycation on Sentosa to celebrate our sixth anniversary but Victoria had no idea it was also to celebrate our engagement! It was a very personal and beautiful surprise.
What inspired you to hold a destination wedding?
Victoria: We have lived in Singapore for nearly eight years and the majority of our relationship had also been in Singapore, so we felt that our wedding would have to be somewhere in Asia, and Bali was just perfect.
Can you describe the theme of your wedding?
Victoria: There was no theme as such, but we did want a classic, romantic look. The natural beauty of the outdoor setting meant we didn’t have to go over the top with decorations. Everything looked amazing on the day and we were delighted that we went in our own direction. Vara Wedding helped us with all of this and the wedding planning process was very smooth.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Victoria: Walking down the aisle! I made the decision to walk down the aisle alone, which was a really difficult decision to make, but one I’m glad I did. It was certainly my “perfect” moment of the day.
Kris: So much of the day was perfect, but I’d say my most memorable was seeing Victoria walking down the aisle. She did it all on her own, and she looked beautiful. It was the first time I’d seen the dress and it was superb. It was quite funny as well because as she was walking down the aisle she couldn’t actually see me until she got close due to the sun being in her eyes!
One episode that was funny for us but probably not so for the photographer was when one of them fell into the pool with his camera! Luckily he managed to save the SD card, but unfortunately the lens was ruined! Having a team of photographers meant that there was no impact at all. He also had a spare lens with him!
