The THEIA Fall 2017 Collection Is A Tropical Island Dream

The THEIA Fall 2017 wedding collection presents dresses that are as fresh as a sea breeze.

Don O’Neill’s past few wedding collections have been unconventional, to say the least. This season, he steps away from barely-there dresses inspired by wisps of smoke in an 1920s opium den and futuristic silver gowns to give us a refreshing take on the beach wedding dress. Blurring the lines between ready-to-wear and bridal, the collection speaks to the modern bride who is looking to free herself from rigid wedding traditions.

You won’t find run-of-the-mill lace gown after lace gown here. Inspired by the destination bride and her longing for shimmering sands and bright blue lagoon waters, the THEIA Fall 2017 collection embraces the casual and carefree nature of the beach bride, while speaking to her bohemian spirit with off-shoulder silhouettes, elegantly flowing fishtail skirts, and mix and match options.

Shoulders are exposed to the tropical sun with fly away ruffles that froth as gracefully as a wave kissing the shore. Each look is crafted from lightweight fabrics such as cotton guipure laces and silk mousselines to give the bride relaxed, free movement. In addition to feminine, softly draped mermaid silhouettes and free-flowing a-lines, the collection also features jumpsuits and separates for the bold bride to express her style. For the daring, the collection featured statement pieces like Venus, a high-low silver slip dress with an embroidered lace cape overlay, and Maya, a slip dress hand-embroidered with laser-cut leaves and crystals.

Inspired by the glitter of pure, white sand, delicate embroideries sparkle with ivory sea shell, glass beads, and micro sequins. For a subtle hint at a tropical island’s sparkling blue colour, the THEIA Fall 2017 also features sea glass and bronze nude linings.

With their carefree silhouettes and exotic sparkle, the THEIA Fall 2017 collection is as inviting as the dazzling island paradise it evokes.
