Maureen and Chuankai’s Vintage Carnival Wedding at UNA, One Rochester
Maureen and Chuankai wed at UNA, One Rochester in a fun-filled and intimate wedding celebration surrounded by family and friends.
Maureen, more popularly known as MissTamChiak, one of Singapore’s renowned food blogger, met her husband, Chuankai, through her blog. Bound by their love for food and one another, their dates often centered around hunting down good food in Singapore, and their wedding was no different. Held at UNA, One Rochester, they tied the knot on 18 October 2015 amongst loved ones and good food, fulfilling Maureen’s dreams of a garden wedding at the beautiful open-spaced venue.
What was your proposal like?
He proposed three years ago when we were traveling around Europe. We hired a photographer to do a couple photoshoot and that’s when he proposed, at the Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge right in front of the Eiffel Tower. I knew something was up because he kept asking me to go up the Eiffel Tower.
How was wedding planning? Did you meet with any challenges along the way?
I knew I wanted a garden wedding, so we settled our location quickly. We prioritised what we wanted for our wedding but faced a challenge of bringing the different elements (LINE mascots, wedding band, decor) together. The coordination was a headache too, but thankfully, I had Cheryl from The Wedding Concepteur to help me.
What was your wedding theme?
I wanted the celebration to be a lighthearted and carnival-esque with great food, music and plenty of entertainment. So, we settled on a vintage carnival theme. We even had bingo and a lucky draw!
How was the actual wedding day like?
It was a crazy mix of emotions. My grandfather, the person who has taken care of me since I was born, walked me down the aisle. When he handed me over to my husband, everyone teared. The moment we passed through the sword bearers hand in hand and walked towards the solemnisation table and became man and wife was extremely memorable.
My solemnisation at UNA was my dream wedding and the best part of the celebration was to gather all the foodies in Singapore at a beautiful location where they were all treated to a good lunch. Styled Story did a great job at bringing my garden carnival wedding to life and made every corner Pinterest-friendly. We were also happy to get the mascots from LINE Singapore at the celebration because we’re huge fans of Brown & Cony.
What did your family and friends have to say about your wedding?
Great food! This is probably a must considering it’s a food blogger’s wedding, right?
Share with us some memorable moments from your wedding day.
The most memorable moment I had was when I sang during the wedding. I took up singing lessons for three months just so I could sing a love song for my husband on our wedding day. I didn’t really sing very well, and was crying half of the time, but I was glad he was touched by it nonetheless.
