Claire and Tammy’s Sweet Garden Wedding at Alkaff Mansion
Claire Fong, 33, Project Manager and Tammy Hartono, 37, Project Manager tied the knot in a beautiful garden ceremony at Alkaff Mansion on 23 March 2014. Their wedding was full of sweet, rustic details like lace and burlap decorations, a fun balloon release, and handmade invitations and guests’ place cards painted by the groom himself!
How did the two of you meet?
Tammy: My best friend asked me to crash his colleague’s birthday party. Claire was the birthday girl and that’s how we first met. To her, I was still a stranger and we didn’t keep in touch after the party. A few months later, another friend asked me to play guitar in her band. There, I met Claire again. Since then, we hung out every week and the rest is history.
Seems like your friends were determined to get you two together! Were friends involved in the proposal too, or was it a private one?
Claire: It was on Christmas Eve. He said he’d like to take me out for a nice dinner. It was a lovely dinner at the Waterboat restaurant along the river at Boay Quay. After dinner, when we were walking along the river, out of a sudden there was this boy carrying a bouquet of red roses, followed by Tammy on his knees with the proposal ring.
What was your wedding theme?
Claire: We didn’t have any particular theme to be honest. We just want to keep it simple and sweet—a garden ceremony followed by a candlelit wedding dinner at Alkaff Mansion. We chose elements like lace, burlap, peach and white coloured flowers for the décor. Tammy designed our invitation cards and painted all the guests’ place cards and table numbers with acrylic and watercolours.
Can you share with us the most memorable meaning of your wedding?
Claire:To me, it was walking the aisle with my dad.
Tammy: It would be our first dance of the night.
Any advice for other soon-to-wed couples?
Tammy: Plan early, decide what you really want, and be realistic. Then set the budget aside. No matter what happens on the actual day, just try to enjoy everything.
Can you tell us how much your wedding cost?
