An Enchanted Garden Wedding Show by PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering
On 23 August 2014, couples wandered into the enchanted gardens of PARKROYAL on Pickering for a glimpse of how a wedding at this iconic hotel would look like.
Located on Upper Pickering Street, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering is a stone’s throw away from the bustling Chinatown area, the Central Business District and the waterfront area at Clarke Quay, making it extremely accessible by car or public transport. Built with a hotel-in-a-garden concept in mind and a desire to bring the greenery of our sunny island and of the adjacent Hong Lim Park indoors, this garden-themed hotel boasts nature-themed rooms and decor, a nature trail and waterfall walk, and massive curvaceous sky-gardens draping with various tropical plants outlining the exterior of the building, giving this flagship PARKROYAL hotel a unique and universally recognisable facade.
A grand ice sculpture and several displays of wedding cake and macaron towers, and dessert table spreads at the foyer welcomed couples to the wedding show before they were ushered into the spectacular William Pickering ballroom for the afternoon’s activities. This pillarless ballroom features a high ceiling beautifully adorned by intricate latticework and floor-length glass walls for an amazing view of the city’s skyline and for an abundance of natural light to flood the room. A combination of 2 smaller ballrooms, the William Pickering ballroom seats a total of 330 guests, perfect for a mid-sized wedding celebration. Alternatively, the rooms can be spilt up for more intimate celebrations that seats up to 165 guests each.
Decorated to resemble an enchanting garden, with each table featuring a VIP table setup of tea candles and roses perched on a gold twine-like stand, couples were seated at a table they were assigned to in the ballroom and were served an exquisitely plated six-course Chinese set menu that included dishes like the Three Treasures Combination appetizer, double-boiled conch meat soup, Hokkaidao scallops and chilled lemongrass jelly to end the delectable meal off. As couples were savouring the burst of flavours each dish presented, the lights dimmed so the room was bathed in the warm, romantic glow of the candles, signalling the start of the afternoon’s bridal runway show by The Aisle Bridal.
Couples were later taken on a tour of the outdoor solemnisation area at the Pool Terrace, where they can pledge their love and recite their vows against the magnificent view of the city in a private solemnisation and cocktail affair of up to 80 guests. They also caught a glimpse of the hotel’s bridal suites and in doing so, discovered yet another intriguing feature of the hotel’s. The suites glowed from the abundant natural light flooding the room from the almost floor-to-ceiling clear windows and boasts a spectacular view of the city and the nearby park. And as the rooms get higher, the shade of the nature-coloured furnishings gets darker, from a lighter maple-brown on the lower floors to a dark walnut-brown on the higher levels. Couples were also introduced to the hotel’s two metropolitan-city inspired themes, Paris and Singapore in the smaller rooms adjacent to the William Pickering ballroom.
The afternoon ended off with some free time for the couples to mingle with the participating wedding vendors present, a lucky draw with attractive prizes including complimentary hotel stays and special perks for couples who signed up for a wedding package during the wedding show, including an additional one night’s stay with breakfast for two in the Bridal Suite on your wedding day or a one night anniversary stay in the Bridal Suite with breakfast for two.
