Wine on Consignment Basis

Hi Kelluvjer

I understand that there are several kinds under Conerstone label.

Is that a product from USA/Chile....?

Hi shice,

Yes usually there is a minimum order before retailers are willing to commit consignment stock.

Delivery charges are common if purchase falls below certain amount. You may wish to purchase from your hotel if you dont think your consumption is high.

Otherwise consult how much is the cockage charge and determine if its cheaper for you to purchase and bring the wine in yourself

Hi Chriss...

Ermm...I'm not too sure...I think I got to check with the hotel....The hotel is providing me with that wine....

IS there a difference between USA or Chile??
Which is better?? Are they about the same price...Sorry to trouble you...

Thanks for your reply...

Thanks Chriss!

I've got 1 bottle per confirmed table.. plus waiver of all corkage charge..

If there's min order or delivery charges, then i think i might order from hotel instead.. Usually min order is roughly how many bottles?

Kelluvjer - I know they have Cabernet Sauvignon from both Chile and Aus/USA*(Cant remember which). Difference btw them is the taste.

shice - mim order if you plan to do consignment is common. Think a case(confirm order) should be fine.
Sometimes you can try asking them to waive the delivery charges. My supplier waived all charges and provided me with a reasonable consignment stock cuz he is one of my hubby's neighbour.

Did the hotel plan to waive all cockages that you are planning to bring in? If yes i urge you to source ard.. cuz it may bring down the cost for your dinner and the wine being served will be more consistant rather then serving X then Y bottles. Ask them if they can do some adjustment to the pricing if you do not want any of their wine, etc.

You have to bargain hard...

Hi Chriss,

The person-in-charge juz emailed me....Its "Corner Stone". Classic French Red 2005. / Classic French White 2006.

That's all the information they provide....

Is it helpful?? I'm not too sure what to ask them too....keke

Keiiuvjer,

Thats not a gd wine from my point of view. How much is the hotel charging you for cockage?

Maybe you would like to ask if they can offer you better wine / work out the cost if its cheaper to get it outside. But of course, the hotel may simply charge you higher cockage to encourage you to get it from them.

Btw, which hotel is that? Can reveal?

Hi Chriss,

I'm not to osure abt corkage charge....They are giving me 1 botlle per table..complimentary....

Additional bottle costs abt $28....I dun think its worth it rite??? They said that's the only wine they have...Actually...for $28, I can get betta wines outside??

Thanks...

New Member
Keiiuvjer,

Yes you can get better wines outside with $28. I talked to neighbour and he commented saying with $25, you can get quite a decent wine.

However complimentary doesn't means cockage is waived if you choose to bring it in yourself.

You can try asking the hotel to either let you bring in Xbottles for Xtables and the rest subjected to cockage charges or total waiver for the wine

Thanks chriss....

Can I ask u something...Is it okie for us to have two different kind of wine for the banquet?? Its like very weird...

Wondering if I can't change the complimentary wine, then wat can i do with the complimentary bottles....I want my guests to have betta wine...since cornerstone is not too good..then have to find ways to change them for other things....

Which wine will be nice??? Me dun really like to drink wine so dunno much abt it...keke...Thanks...

Hi Kelluvjer,

I used this Red Deer Station for my wedding, and all my guests commented that the wine very nice. Is not expensive, retail selling S$25 and I got it from the wholesaler at S$18.
During my wedding the hotel also offered free complimentary, but we rejected the complimentary wine as that not a very good wine.
And it will be very weird to have two different wine during the wedding dinner. One reason is that the waiters will not have the time to change your guest's glass, they will just refill.
Even now one year plus after my wedding, some of my guests still called us to have the wholesaler contact to order wine for functions and weddings.
You can call my wholesaler, he can provide you good suggestions and informations.

His contact is 98582633 and his name is Mr ST Leow.

Kelluvjer,

Having two different kinds of wine is not advisable.

If you asking me to recommend you, need to know how much do you willing to pay for per bottle? Any kind that you prefer? Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz,... etc.

If im to recommend you, definately it wont be seeing those that you can grab off the shelves in NTUC, Petrol Kios, etc. I prefer something unique rather then those mass market product.

Hi Kelluvjer,

I remembered during my wedding we took the UOB promotion, and they do provide wine for each table. I dun know how my husband managed to bargain to reject the wine that supplied by the hotel. At the end we brought in our wine, if I'm not wrong, corkage free for my wedding dinner.
My father in law and my husband had a hard time bargaining with the hotel for these issue.

I'm helping my friend clear off his wines from his wedding. (He over-bought!!) It is an Australian red wine found in most high-end restaurants and bars, and are NOT found in any supermarkets. The wines are kept in good condition. Self-Collection can be arranged. Delivery is subjected to $15 taxi fee.
I'm selling the wines at $20/bottle, it's cash terms and no consignment as I'm helping a friend to clear the wines. Pls email your enquiries to [email protected] or SMS 98007662. I'll do my best to get back to you.

If you are looking for wine that is slightly better in quality and considered boutique wines.
go down to Cellar Door @ thompson plaza, (next to the DIY shop) , ask for Daniel and his reccomendations , after discounts you may get bottles at $22 but at very high quality wines... my pick (reilly's Barking Mad Shiraz) 90 pointer...

Hi

Just wondering when should I start ordering red wine? My AD is in Sept 2007. Please advise.
As what Janice suggested, wanted to try out Mr ST samples. =)

Hi vanilla,

you should order your wine around 2weeks before your wedding, if you intend to order large quantities, then you should inform the wholesaler one month before.
You may call up Mr ST for samples.

Hi Vanilla,

if the wine wholesaler giving you on consignment, then you may estimate one table about 1 and 1/2 bottle of wine. If your dinner falls on weekend then better to prepare more...

Just to share

I had my wedding dinner on sunday nite in May 07.

We had 25 tables and we actually consumed 100btls of wines (red, white n sparkling) plus 4 barrels of beer. My husband's friends can really drink a lot. Luckily we manage to get a good deal from a supplier plus the hotel gv us corkage free.

We still manage to breakeven for our dinner.. Heng ah..

Hi Janice

Thank you for introducing Mr ST to us! He's very accommodating and his customer service is very good. ST offered to deliver the samples to my hubby's office, which is rather near to his office. And the wine (Red Deer Station) is really good. Very good indeed! We have decided to order the Shiraz from ST.

Hi Zenie,

you may like to contact Mr ST for wine testing. If I'm not wrong, he will sell you a bottle at his cost price for testing only. But it will be better that you contact him for more information.
He usually will recommend the Australia Wine Red Deer Station or Billy Goat which are now selling in Giant and Cold Storage and some 7-11.

hi val, i am also just doing research on Mancura Cabernet Sauvignon & Mancura Chardonnay by Barw***s when I saw your post. Are you ordering from them? We are in touch with Vincent to cater wine for our outdoor wedding. I have tried wine from Chile and they are very good but I have not tried Mancura before so need to do some research before I confirm. Hopefully someone can respond to the post

val - our wedding is over and I did purchased Mancura Cabernet Sauvignon & Mancura Chardonnay. Guests have very good review on both wines especially Chardonnay which we served it chilled.

I have 7 bottles of Mancura Cabernet Sauvignon left. Bought them at $16.80/bottle and would like to let it go at $15/bottle. Email me at [email protected] if you are keen.
