Dear all,
I will be paying my bills using credit card after my wedding banquet which will be few months down the road.
Now considering which one I should use to pay?? I was thinking of using citibank dividend card or POSB everyday card for cash back rebate so that I can enjoy some rebate..
Wonder if anyone got better suggestion to this?

Hmmm.... do you have UOB visa/mastercards? or citibank master/visa?

can earn points from these n change for dining vouchers etc... i tink can change quite a number of vouchers when u pay using all these cards which have point issued for every 5dollar spent!
Well...
its up to individual...

if u prefer cash back, POSB is nt a bad idea...

Just imagine...

if ur table is 800 per table.. u got 30 tbls =24000

points received is 24000/5=4800

Wah...alot of vouchers to change....

Huh...there goes what I been planning for to use the citibank dividend thing. Haiz, so POSB everyday got such ruling or not?

For normal purchases Citibank will give a rebate of 0.5%.

If i not wrong.. POSB only have cash rebates with their listed partners only.. (can be found in their everyday credit webby)

Hi Tots, there is another cashback card in the market. but prob is that it is a debit card. Stan chart's xtrasaver debit card comes with cash back and its pretty high (tink about 1% if you don't use it for petrol cash back)

But prob with this card is that

(1) You must maintain 6000 daily for a month for them to give u cash back

(2) you need to have all the cash ready in the account when you swipe it for your hotel

Better call up POSB and Stan chart to check
call citibank too and check if they are still willing to give you 0.5%

Haiz...then can forget about it cos must put cash in first...somemore wedding time is liquid funds on hand more important.

Hi Ladies!

I've called Citibank. 0% cashback for wedding banquet

POSB Everyday Card. 0.3% for wedding banquet if it is not participating merchant. More discount if it is participating merchant.

Lovelynails, dun feel too bad. Still got 0.3% for all your purchases.

Hi lovelynails,

When you use say UOB credit card and earn points and exchange for vouchers. it works out to about 0.3% of the total amount spent. (say 1000 uni$ only change about some $5 voucher at some place)
So it's similar to POSB everyday card, just that POSB gives you back in cash but uob u need to redeem in voucher.

I've heard that you can choose your rewards for ABN Amro's credit card. You just tell them what you want and they will tell you how many points you need.

Does your hubby drive? if he does, charge to UOB card. then take the UNI$ convert to shell points and in turn convert the shell points to petrol? How about that?

My personal take would be, use different credit cards to pay, then you can hit the minimum sum to offset the annual fee for that year (since some banks are pretty strict and they don't offer free renewal)

Hi,

Im abit blur on how do u all pay the balance of your wedding dinner? usually hotels accept to pay by credit? Do u have to call yr credit company to increase the credit limit? How many days in advance? How much is the credit limit for UOB? How much do u all increase? $30,000??

Appreciate replies. Thx.

Hotels accept credit card payment and yup, u gotta call yr credit card co. up to request for temp increase in limit. Play safe is to call about 2 weeks before to get approval and they will do a "check" with the hotel if there is really banquet and stuff going on. Not sure if there is credit limit for temp increase but u might just call their customer service to check it out. But bear in mind to clear the bill before the temp increase end otherwise u will be penalize for the late charges.

Hi M&M, credit limit depends on your monthly salary. I think it's usually 2 or 2.5 times your monthly salary but you can call up the credit card company to request a temp increase in credit limit.

So its possible to increase to $30,000 etc? Wow..seems alot. Okie, thanks for info. Will call them maybe few weeks in advance to ask for temp increase. I just wanna make sure the bank allow u to do so otherwise no time to apply for other credit cards.

Hi all,

I'll be using Citibank Premier Miles card to pay for my bill. It's a new card that can accumulate miles to exchange for air tickets. Heehee.. calculated that we could change for a pair of tickets to Japan.

Free honeymoon! =)

i think it shd be possible...

most credit card will allow such increase..

however, you may want to check if yr ideal banquet venue has special promos for certain credit card eg, beer, wine, upgrade of room etc...

Hi all,

I am considering one of the below:

1. Citibank PremierMiles
2. UOB Signature Card
3. DBS Black Card
4. Amex Krisflyer Card

My fiance and I wanted to redeem for free holidays so I have shortlisted the above.

Anyone is holding on to the above cards? Any advise which is good?

warning for citibank, if you are going the flexible instalment plan way, they do NOT give any points.

i.e. you spend $7500 for your wedding, then split up to 1 year instalment, they will not give you 1500 citidollars, not even at the end of 1 year.

need to pay the full sum on your next billing to get the points.

Anyone knows which other bank, apart from Citi, is very 'flexible' with credit card annual sub fee? Pls share. Thanks.

UOB awards 1 point for every 5 dollars. HSBC is my fav. 1 point per dollar & the rewards are better as in more variety.

Hi!

I need some advice. I do not own a credit card hence I would like to use my sister DBS Black Card to pay for my wedding banquet. I check online that she will be able to accumulate air miles for it. May I know if she will be able to use the air miles to exchange air tickets for someone else? Or must she be the person travelling?

Any updates on this topic?

As my HTB have a Citi dividened card, we are
entittled to 2% cash back as long as the payment is made under a restaurant name and not Hotel's.
(Already checked with the Citibank's customer executive).

So far this is the best deal for wedding banquet payment, any other cards?

Melissa.

hi eternity321, my fiance had redeemed tickets for me using his krisflyer miles. so to answer your question, she need not be the person travelling.

You might want to check with the relevant parties to confirm..

Hi all! Need some advice here...

Anyone has any idea how to convert points to air miles if we cannot sign up for the cards that allows you to accumulate mileage??

Does all banks support this kinda request to convert points to mileage?? Which cards can do so??

Cuz it seems that the minimum requirement for those cards are usually for those who earns $50K per annum.....

starfrost

hi tabogal, not all cards allow conversion of points to mileage.. only certain cards does...

standard chartered manhattan card
5% rebate for 3001 and above every quarter.
So you can spilt the bill among the cards and get 5% rebate for each card. You may even get your cash back for a table..

Dear Jacko,

i have use Citi Dividend card to pay my deposit for Banquet. Only 1 K though.
Jacko, i understand you are considering tang court, i have chance upon BTB they pay the payment of their whole sum - let's say 20K,separate into lump sum of like 5K of their credit limit every month. (Sort of instalement payment) and they use Standard Chather card henceforth save quite a lot from the cash rebate given back by the bank haha...

Anyway i seems to see that someone is selling off her package for tang court... see whether you can save up from there bah.

For increasing the credit limit for a short period of time, if i m not wrong,is possible. However, they won't be giving you any points or rewards back base on the period you increase your credit limit.
