hi anna, my rom timing is the same as urs. As i find teahouse at china square quite a distance from the rom bldg, i decide to have dim-sum buffet lunch before the rom ceremony.

hi anna,
I had the same problem as you too when i had my ROM. In the end, i booked an area at the coffee club at hotel rendevous. Near to the ROM building.
They are able to cater per your requirements. I had 20 pple and they customise the menu for me, so per pax about $15+++. Quite reasonable i think, maybe u can consider.

Hotel Phoenix High Tea (3.30pm-5.30pm). Food not bad.. and I think you can reserve a sitting area for you and your guests but food is still self-service at the main area lar..

Hi anna,

I was going to suggest high tea at various hotels but realised that yours is a weekday (most hotels only have high tea on weekends).

You may like to check out the following Chinese restaurants instead:

Mouth Restaurant (Chinatown Point)
Yum Cha (Trengganu St)
Fook Yuen (Raffles City Shopping)
Padang Palace (Singapore Recreation Club)
Yan Palace (Upper Cross St)

My fav is Padang Palace as it's near to ROM and just opp City Hall MRT. Their dim sum is very yummy but you better give them a call, see if they're opened at 3pm.

my friend just got solemnized at China Teahouse....didn't really like the environment there....my friend booked a private room for 30 pax (3 tables)...when we reached there....the utensils were not set and there was no table cloth covering the wooden tables...the room looked abit cramp....and while the couple were saying their vows....the music was not soften and worse...they were playing some old Chinese songs (my godness...they were songs not music...as if fighting for attention)......

HI Ladies,
my time slot for my ROM at the office is at 1335hrs. Does the waiting time takes 2-3hours? I am actually looking at any restuarant OR hotel hi-tea buffet or DINNER BUFFET and budget is $30-$5 excludes taxes. Any where near to the ROM building.

Hi Jacqueline,

You may want to try Tea House at China Square (Tung Lok restaurant). High Tea from 3pm to 5pm (last order 430pm). Cost is $16.80++/adult on weekends. $15++/adult on weekends. It's about 20 types of dim sum, about 4 types of dessert and 6 types of porridge/noodles/rice.

It's not very near ROM but it's central.

ANother place you can try is River CIty restarant (part of the dragon gate group) at Excelsior Hotel. This is nearer to ROM building. Their dinner is about $22++/adult. It's a range of chinese food. 630pm onwards I think.

Alacarte both places.

Hi Jacqueline,

Do u need to find a plc that is really near ROM? I held my solemnization at Marina Square restaurant and the food is quite nice. But their private room is quite small, only able to hold 2 tables. But during afternoon time, it's quite quiet. It was empty when i made my vows..hehe..
let me knw if u interested, i can PM u the contacts.

Hi Jacqueline,

The restaurant name is KAM BOAT (in Marina Sq) tel : 63366696. Look for May (Supervisor), perhaps u can try to ask for discount, say intro by Elynn (The couple who Rom-ed on 6th June) ;)
My sis went with her hb and ILS shortly after my rom to celebrate Father's Day and May gave her a 10% discount w/o her asking..

hi guys,

if u got the weird weird timing for rom like me 2.05pm, u can try a restaurant Kam Boat in marine sq. The function room is indeed small but the manager is a very nice lady. She will try to cater to your need. I will be having the high tea tomorrow after my rom. I tried the food there. Even my bf who had high taste of food is saying that it is GOOD. u can try their dim sum ... it is nice n good.

No doubts the location is a bit weird. U can take the escalators up frm city link to marine sq and the restaurant is right next to Breeks along the walkway to Marine Sq.

They got value meal that cost 168 ++ for 10 persons it is quite worthwhile. if the food portion is small u can req for more to but best is speak to the manager over there. Her name is call Irene. If u need the contact do pm me.

My ROM strange timing is at 430pm. So by when would my even be finished? By 445pm? And take some pics - so end at 5pm+, then go for early dinner at 6pm?

Any suggestion? Will it look weird if I dress like that to eat at restaurant? Im looking at Chinese 10 course dinner (no buffet). Somewhere nearby ROM and not very crowded. Prefered not in the ERP area.
