Hello !..we have just attended the wedding show at CVH. Find that the ballroom and solemnisation set up looks really nice...The bridal suite that we have visited is cozy and nice also....we are thinking of signing up with them for our wedding dinner but quite concern about the distance. Can anybody share any comments on the transport for guest to CHV? is it an issue? Thanks!

Hi JK,

I did a bit of research. There are some bus-stops near to CVH. There is bus 29 at a bus-stop less than 20 m away from the hotel, which connects to Tampines Interchange. At a bus-stop slightly further away, prob around 50 m, there are bus services 2, 59 and 109. Service 2 connects to quite a number of MRT stations in the east as well as Clarke Quay and Chinatown stations and 59 connects to Bishan. Not too sure about 109. CVH is still accessible, but travelling time will be long. You may want to consider catering a shuttle service for your guests, if it is feasible and the demand is there.

Hi Mapleleaf,
Thanks for your info! How many tables do u have for your wedding? I'm quite surprise how cum this thread is so quiet as I find that CVH is really a nice place and price reasonable..hmm..could be due to the distance. haa. but my bf and I love the place, so most likely will book with them.

We've booked the place for our solemnization and Serena is our coordinator. Somehow I just feel she doesnt seem too involved. Ask her questions on the day's decor etc she ask me to ask her florist myself. Im not too sure if this is the right way? I mean at least have some formal introduction btw us and the flortist! I cant be calling the florist and not knowing where to start asking right? Plus Im not even sure if we talk to her florist directly, will there be additional charges or watever. Havent even gone thru my solemnization there and Im starting to get worried and disappointed with their service. Hope she doesnt screw up my solemnization and gives me any additional hidden charges!!!

Hi JK,

You are welcome

I have confirmed 20 tables for a banquet in Dec 2007. Ya, both of us found the place very nice and tranquil, a refreshing change from the big hotels in town. Of course, we thought about the distance too and consulted our parents about it, but it will not be a major problem for our relatives as many of them stay in the east and those who don't have their own transport. But it will be a challenge for some of our church friends staying in the west, but something can be arranged later if they need help.

Hi Paradise,

I haven't gone to visit the florist yet, but I thought it is ok that we are to liaise directly with the florist. It is easier for us to tell the florist directly what is our choice of flowers, arrangement, etc. The main co-ordination will be done by the catering manager, meaning that she will get the florist to come in on the actual day to do up the place. It is like they take care of the hardware part, and we just tell them what we want in the software

Hi Mapleleaf,

Yeah but I tot it would be nice if she can link us and the florist up via email 1st. At least the florist already have some basic details like when or who is having what event at the hotel. Well, nvm. Im going to call the florist later and check.

Am also going to chk if there's any additonal costs.

Btw did u just book the place? CVH indeed is a refreshing change. Very quiet... dun feel so stress there. hehe

Hi JK,
I am only having my wedding banquet at CVH. My Holy Matrimony will be held in a church earlier on the same day.

Hi Paradise,
We booked the place last December. Both of us are teachers...very busy...so we won't have time to shop around for hotels during term time. That's why we settled the booking quite early, and we are glad that we chose CVH
happy.gif

Hi cutecat,
We saw the setup for the banquet and found it very cosy. Because of its small seating capacity, you can actually see all your guests when you walk down the isle. This is nice as it makes the banquet more personal and your guests will really feel like they are part of the event
happy.gif

Some thoughts...
Actually CVH is a very nice place cos it has a unique resort feel to it due to its location. I think the reason why it is not so popular is partly because of it is far from town and partly because it has also a limited capacity, especially for the banquet. Couples who intend to invite more than 20 tables of guests will naturally turn to larger hotels.

Hi Mapleleaf,

Oic. CVH is a nice place.

Anyway I just spoke to Serena and told her my concerns. I told her that I need to know what is the agreement btw CVH and their florist otherwise its hard for us to decide on what we want.

One item she promised that there will be no additional costs to us but the florist says there is. So it was good she called me back to confirm after seeing my email. At least I have better grounds to negotiate with the florist.

Hi Paradise,

Thanks for sharing this valuable information. You are very sharp with details. I would not have thought about this until nearing the time, cos we only need to meet the florist a few months before the banquet. I am actually a little shocked to hear that the florist and the hotel does not seem to be liaising that closely, especially on the issue of additonal cost. Btw, when is your big day?

HI Mapleleaf..

Budget constrain mah so have to be extra careful. V scared of hidden costs. Hehe

Im doing my ROM there this jUly.

Anyway, I've met up with the florist just now. Everything's ok. I think Serena spoke to him after I told her. So earlier on, the meeting with him was ok and he was rather flexibile. The item we asked for will also be included in the package with no extra charge.

I also told him upfront that whatever we discuss, if there's any additional costs, he must voice out. Cos I dun wanna pay for anything extras.

Hi Paradise,
OKie tks for your advise. Is ur ROM held at the poolside at the top level or the other poolside at the Creek? I was given an additional nite stay in their delux room, but was previously told that if i signed up during their promo period, i wud be upgraded to Superior Room one night stay. Was slightly disappointed cuz the superior room was really nice!

Hi Mapleleaf,
Our banquet is next year 15 May, thurs..Didn't get much perks from them as ours was a promo package. Kinda disappointed initially, but really like the plc, no choice..hee.. Now i'm just worried about the distance. Was thinking of changing to weekends instead so that it will not be too rush for frds & relatives after work...Did you managed to get additional nite stay?

mapleleaf

New Member
Hi JK,

Ya, we did. We excluded champagne and liquor from the package thus we get some other perks in exchange. We got upgraded to executive suite and also an additional night stay.

Just held my wedding banquet there. Irene Koh, the hotel catering coordinator, is very friendly and her service is crisp. I managed to squeeze in 25 tables.

Many people shun the thought of holding a banquet because they think it is a B-grade 5-star hotel and very inaccessible. Infact the reverse is true.

1) Most guests drive or carpool. They really appreciate the no hassle parking and traffic there was simply a breeze, compared to going to town. CVH also had ushers by the road to divert cars when their own parking is full.

2) Many guests take taxi to town areas when attending weddings anyway. My videographer and photographer said I actually had the best venue because they weren't worried about traffic like previous occassions.

My friend also helped to organise the wedding car to chauffeur people at various locations, fully utilising the hire. Future couples may wish to consider this. No point having the car sitting at the lobby.

3) A separate venue for solemnisation was thrown in for free, when there was no booking by others. The hotel's stipulated decorator/florist was cheaper than most so we had a really beautiful setup at our solemnisation at an affordable price. However if you're just having the standard banquet, there's no need to extra decorate as the hotel's package is more than adequate.

4) The 2 nights' stay compared to 1 night at other hotel is really a plus. You need it.

5) The fact that CVH is a less sort after venue is an advantage to consumers. They're more inclined to give you better service to remain competitive. Then again, there were 6 altogether on my Actual Day. Talk about not bring popular?

Can anyone share their wedding package details with me? Thought the place at CVH will be nice but have no idea on how much is the package.

How is the food for the dinner? Good?

Is the poolside area big enough to hold dinner (25 tables)?

I'm considering between Pan Pacific and Swissotel (the Stanford) but there might be traffic issues coz my dates are near F1 event. I heard that Changi Village Hotel is v nice and would like to gather some feedback.

opps.. hi jk. yup alot of people isnt aware of the hotel there.
Actually our date is on the 28th Dec. and My BROTHER just had his on the 6th of JULY....
my package is abit costly though. cause we are keeping the table to less then 16 which is the min qty and i will be booking the poolside as well as some other stuff... ALL IN ONE type of thingy..
Poolside max can hold up to 8 table comfortable. i seen 10 table before. but abit tight on space.. oh ya. those doing outdoor..
Pls consider the weather too.. My brother had his nice but come around 8 to 9 pm. it was very warm.
all in all. pretty okie i guess. Now waiting for MY TURN..
