Villa Halia - any experiences with venue or wedding coordinators?

Hi there ... wondering if anyone here would care to share their experiences with holding a lunch or dinner reception at Villa Halia? I was planning to have my dinner reception there, but am having serious doubts now ... they have been very inflexible with requests and negotiations on the package, and the coordinator is very slow in responding even though she is very nice, I have to chase her over e-mail or phonecall every time I need a response. I'm worried that this will continue while I'm planning my wedding, which will be difficult since I am overseas right now ... but I'm keen on the venue, so I don't know what to do!

Hi macaloon,

I am planning to have my solemnization at Villa Halia this year.

And yes, agree with you that the coordinator (though nice) but take a looooong time to respond. I have been checking with her on venue decoration and haven't gotten any response so far.

Have u already booked with them?

Hiya, yeah, I didn't really manage to look at similar alternative venues so I ended up having to go with Villa Halia ... it looks like calling is the best way to get hold of them, and even then the responses are still slow in coming. Sigh. I'm really hoping this doesn't turn out to be too big an issue ... all the best to you too! When is your solemnisation?

Hi, can anyone share the wedding dinner package from Villa Halia with me, if you have received from them already? I need the price range for some comparisons urgently.

Kindly PM me if you do have the information.

Thanks a million!

Hi, anyone else planning to hold their dinners at Villa Halia? Have been liaising with one of their coordinators, and I do not seem to be having any of the problems above. She seems very quick with her replies and has been very flexible too!

Hi mysmailing, when is your big day?

i've got replied from marianne, they actually got back to me pretty fast. I'm still in my dilemma whether to hold my wedding or just a simple solemnization and book 2 tables in a restaurant, instead of having 80guests as what me and my HTB planned to. Both of us are working overseas, and the last trip back in dec, we went to a few hotels to check out the venue and one rochester too. Don't know what to do..

hi pieceless,

my wedding was on sept 2011...

mine also very simple one as my hubby and I aren't local so we dun have many families down here. we just invited around 100 pax.

One Rochester also inside our list, but finally we decided at Halia for location sake...you can try flute at the fort as well..

Hi I'm going to a wedding showcase at Halia restaurant (Botanic Gardens) this Sunday. Going to check out the space for my wedding. There will be hairstylist, florist etc. booths as well. You might want to check it out.

Hi All,

I will strongly not recommend Halia as a venue. I am having my wedding dinner in Halia in November this year and I met with a whole lot of issues!!

1) Venue capacity - When i first bought the wedding package, I explicitly told Halia that I need a place for 140 pax. They told me that the gallery room and courtyard can accomodate that many people. I was really happy as it was a pretty place.. Many months later, in October 2012, I asked for my seating plan for 140 pax and guess what! The ops person told me that they can only accomodate 128 pax! I totally flipped and made a big deal via email. They asked for me to meet their GM, who afterwhich, told me that 140 pax can be done after some arrangement! After causing so much stress, they said it can be done! Really a waste of time and a whole lot of stress!

2) They give very little help during your actual day. No AV assistance, min coordination and not even giving us the venue earlier for decor.. It is just ridiculous!

3) We need the makeup room to be ready by 2.30pm in order to have our solemnization by 5.30pm. They couldn't accomodate because they have a tentative lunch and the earliest they can let us use the venue is 3pm! Afterwhich, we made a big fuss and they agreed to it.. They should rethink these issues before rejecting us and agreeing again

With all the issues mentioned above, it is really not worth the time and stress especially for brides-to-be. You will be better off with another venue with more support. Moreover, we are paying $118+++ per pax which is more than a standard hotel.

In all fairness, I will write another post after the wedding to assess the situation..
