Videographer necessary?

I was just thinking... it seems very common to have a photographer and a videographer for the wedding... but is it really necessary? My bf and I discussed and we thought the video from the videographer won't be of much use after the wedding because we won't sit around and watch it anyway.

We thought that the video is mainly to show the morning highlights during the dinner... but I managed to find two photographers who are willing to do a photo montage of the morning highlights in time for dinner... which means I can have photographer only and save money on VG (about 1k?) ...

They are slightly more ex than some other photographers I emailed but I thought if can save on VG... why not...

What do you girls think? Is video necessary?

Video and photo are very different to me...my 2 sis fid not have videographer but their wedding were 11 and 10 years ago. All the weddings i attended have videographer...for my wedding next year, the video we needed is the morning highlight for the guest and for us..not so much during the banquet.

Mmm I guess you are right. Some of my friends say it's normal to have and others say no need. It's personal preference I guess. I was thinking if I have relatives overseas then maybe the video will be handy for me to pass to them...

But since I don't have and probably won't have time to watch the video next time... I think a photo montage of the morning's events will be enough.

Pictures and videos is more for keeping the memories after your wedding has passed, for me it's not so much for showing people during banquet. You can't buy back this day again next time. So I'm having AD video for whole day. =)

I'm just getting half day so I can see the gatecrash and our ROM in the evening. Don't need to film me walking down the aisle to cut cake or pop the champagne. LoL.

Im also engaging PG only... reason being im not doing gatecrash.. plus my ROM is seperate date. So no reason to engage a VG

I wanted to capture the day so I engaged one but I went for a basic one that is good enough and not too ex. Spent about 1.5k I think.

Mine is from the aisle bridal u belove it will be only 1 photographer. My AD package is 3k. Include 3 gowns 2 suits, make up, hairstylist, flower etc. ..

ahh ok. I researched everything separate... about the same I guess if add all up just that one of the photographers offering to have a second shooter on that day (2 PG for the price of 1).

in fact, 1.2 only but for VG only. Photographer was someone else. The VG offers photography package too and it's quite value but I prefer another photographer.

Sigh... actually we did have a package overseas but we cancelled it. We're postponing our wedding due to family issues and our date isn't confirmed yet so we had to waste some money. I just take it as more time to do research. heh
