How do people plan for their ROM, wedding recep, BTO collection?
It is all a big mess and so confusing.

eg. rom can only be booked within 100 days of actual days but BTO can only be taken after keys... so means supposed to ROM first then take BTO keys. So after ROM, stay back with parents?

What is the timeline, can I hear some of the plannings from you people out there?

Would greatly appreciate it!

You can appeal to HDB to defer the submission of the ROM cert.
If the appeal gets through, you can collect the key first then ROM at a later date.
However you will need to provide evidence such as banquet invoice which states your wedding date.

If you plan to ROM first then I guess it is more straightforward.
Most parents will only take the chinese customary as officially married so you can still stay with your parents (but you better check with both sides parents first in case they don't agree)

Thanks for your reply happypotato! I plan to have a wedding reception at a cafe, not sure if they would take that as evident. I'm also puzzled, people usually book their wedding venue 1-1.5 years in advance but how do they know that they would be able to get a solemniser on that day?! ( if they doing all at the same day)

Do you know how long can it be deferred for?

I think it should be ok as long as you have the invoice from the cafe stating your wedding date. Even the invoice from your bridal studio is ok as long as the wedding date is stated. They just want any evidence to proof you are getting married on that date.

This is why I see many BTB approach 10 over JP before they settled for one. There are really a lot of JP in Singapore so I guess you will get one somehow. You can check the ROM website, they have a list.

Depending on the JP, some accepts soft booking in advance but some only want you to check with them 3 months before the date.

Sorry but I am not sure how long it can be deferred for. Better to check with the officer in charge of your BTO.

we actually collected our keys and there was no need to show any form of proof to the hdb officers, they jus told us to get ROM within three months iirc and submit the info to our local town council within a year
