Hi,

Thought of holding my wedding lunch at The Straits Room but not too sure is it worth the value. I heard alot of negative comments on the food but quite like the place tho. Anyone hold your wedding there or attend a wedding there before? Kind to share? Thanks

Hi linsk & BenDi,
I have decided not to hold there as the cost is extremely high as its consider their premium room.
I attended my fren's wedding there and the fodd ok only but decoration is nice but understand we need to pay for that. Not too sure its true but perhaps you might wish to check it out.

I think is about 850++ per table, i think is just like paying for everything ...haha..i think my guest list go beyond 120 people. drop the idea.

Just to share, I held my solemnization at Straits Room in Sept. The room is beautiful, chapel like and grand. I had only 50 guests (but think its minimum 80 guests) for buffet lunch. The food was fantastic, my guests all had high ratings for it. The decor was great. I wouldn't have held it anywhere else!

Calling all who booked their wedding lunch in the straits room

just want to revive this thread again. I've decided to hold my event in this room cos I'm so in luve with it! Could anyone else who have booked share some advice on the theme (is there any to choose from) or any other advice.

I'm planning my event away from Singapore so would appreciate any advice that anyone can give!

hi guys, i'm having my wedding dinner in the Straits Room. Am choosing the passion (red) and black set up - it's really really stuning. I like the room's high ceilings, chandaliers and (sorta) long march-in too.

Food-wise, they've been rather accommodating in changing some dishes within my budget. I've been told though by my cousin who went for two weddings here that the food on both occasions was lukewarm.

May I know what's the cost per pax to have the wedding there? Is it possible to have a "church wedding" there?

Chrissy

Can you pls send me some pictures for me to have look at the place? Thanks.

If a "church wedding" is just getting a pastor/father in to solemnize, it's possible. Just have to find a solemnizer who is willing to marry a couple outside of the church. The room can be set up for solemnization. It was done in 2004 or 2005 for a particular couple. Can't remember which year. I witnessed a christian solemnization in the outdoor garden of Fullerton Hotel. Think it's called Gardens East or West. Can't recall. The couple had solemnization there, followed by wedding dinner at the Ballroom. It was in Feb 2006. I believe the bride in that wedding goes by the nickname "Ash" on this forum.

She's really nice. Perhaps you can contact her to know more?

BB Queen - My sister had a christian ceremony at chijmes presided by a pastor so yes, it's entirely possible. I'll be having my solemisation at the straits room itself before the dinner - my jp is a catholic priest but it's gonna be a civil not religious ceremony.

Cactus - you're thinking of East Garden. It's outdoors and terribly noisy because it's right next to the main road separating the hotel from One Fullerton. Pity because it is otherwise quite nice. Not really a garden, because it's mostly concrete but would look great for photography with a nice trellis, water feature etc.

anyone here with confirmed fullerton booking yet?

Hi brokenbudgie - Yah.. it's prob east garden. I stumbled upon Ash's solemnization when I was there for my food tasting... it struck me as very romantic. Ash had very nice floral decorations. Not noisy at all.. if I recall correctly. Perhaps cos the level of traffic was low that day. It was a Saturday dinner.

Hi,

I'm also interested to hold my wedding dinner in the Straits Room, especially when my guests turnout is not a lot.. 100+.. hmmmm $1288+++ is a bit steep though... but it's still negotiatable right?

For max 10 tables, is it realistic to hv a budget of $15k?

Hi Dawnyo - after you add the 7% GST, I guess it depends how much your guests will drink, over and above the complimentary bottle of wine given per table.

brokenbudgie,
ok, may need to adjust budget abit higher than 15k then.. i simply love the place.. but, i wonder am i right to spend that amount just because i love the place. As in, is it worth it?

ya mine is small wedding.. in a sense i did try to convince myself that since i dun have that many guests , maybe i can spend a little bit more.. u noe, make everyone comfortable and happy, with the settings and food etc..

took one look at the prices fullerton quoted and it's out already. more than $1300++ / table?

unless I am paying the full sum for the wedding, it wouldn't be fair to expect my relatives and friends to cough out this much for me just to see me have face at their expense.

Hi Kevin, not everyone expects their friends and relatives to cover cost of wedding dinner with APs these days. Some pple are prepared to pay that price for a memorable occasion, like a wedding.

Well, a wedding at the fullerton's not going to come cheap but you'll get a beautiful event and a nice time for your friends and relatives. My closer relatives were quite generous but i had to shell out some still. Nonetheless, i had my own grand fairytale wedding and that's all that matters!

Hi all,

Am really interested in doing a lunch at Straits Rm. Does anyone know if Fullerton will be having any promotions/roadshows at upcoming bridal fairs? I asked my coordinator, Rendall, who told me things are not confirmed yet. Any advice?
