hi vivian

I just returned from Taipei.

I stayed at the Cosmos Hotel (just right next to the taipei main station). If you are looking for a cheap 3* hotel, you can consider this. It is highly accesible to various places, cos very near to MRT and it is walking distance from Xin Guang San Yue (SOGO).

It is a stop away from the renowned Xi Men Ding. About 15mins MRT ride from Shih Lin and about 30-40mins MRT ride to dan shui.

Just dont expected to have breakfast to go with the room. And their room service ends pretty early.

Otherwise, there is the Sheratons located near the Zhong Siao Xin Sheng station. But I am not very sure of its rates.

forgot to mention, though the room at Cosmos does not have breakfast, there is an ikari cafe nearby, less than a minute walk away (head in the same direction as hotel from MRT but walk on further). It serves good meals at affordable prices, cosy area too.

It is also near the bus terminal for coaches heading towards the C.K.S. airport.

Hi Rocher

The room rate at Cosmos is about SGD120/night when we booked it. Do note too that it is just a 3 star hotel.

Hi Ivy,
thanks for ur reply. Their hotel rates are very exp. I went there last march and stayed in rainbow hotel abt 2.5 star and its NTD $1700 per room per night abt S$86. Cos i'm thinking of going again so hope to find some cheaper hotel than rainbow.

I stayed at Santos - 4stars before and will be there again this Good fri. I book thru Hotel travel this time US$100 per night. If you got citibank card another 4% discount. Its near to the station. and from the airport just take the bus and drop directly opp at the hotel.

I stayed at wonstar hotel in jan. as its pretty new, the facilitis and service are quite good. location wise is not bad too. As it is at the fringe of ximenting, you get the convenience without the noise.

Hi,

U can try Rainbow Hotel located in central of ximending, standard room at abt S$90, breakfast incl. Room quite spacious, housekeeping everyday. Metro station (mrt station) just abt 10min walk away. Quite popular among Singaporean.

U can check this webby:

called them for instant booking.

hi guys...i'm planning to go taipei in dec 07 for a short holiday 5D4N with my hubby. I'm checking out Sheraton, Cosmos and Rainbow hotels. the most recommended ones in forum.

Anyone has any other hotels to recommend? 3-4 stars, close to MRT and a must must...have bathtubs in the room.

Can check if Cosmos and Rainbow hotels have bath tubs in the room??

I been to Taipei 2 times and both times i stayed at Santos Hotel (San De Ta Fan Dian) - looks like a four star hotel to me but only cost about US$100+ per night. The breakfast is wonderful - international and chinese - Lot of japanese love to stay there. 5mins walk to MRT - Ming quen Xi rd Mrt i think and if you come from Airport, there is this airport bus which you take and arrive just opposite the hotel and the busstop back to Airport is just further down the road - the receptionist can tell you exactly where is it on a map so no worries.

Hotel Web Site

Normally i booked my hotels at www.hoteltravel.com or www.asiarooms.com

Sheraton is great! It is just next to Shandao temple station. The service is great and all their staff is able to speak good english - even the bellboys!

Tashun is good, it is in xi men ding area. I stayed there in Nov 06.

For main station area, I stayed at See You Hotel in Nov 08. Also good. It is newly renovated. The lobby is very small though and actually has a computer room which i need to ask the reception then they will let you in to use for free. Breakfast is across the street at a cafe. Just sandwich and drink.

hi...
Has anyboody stayed in caesar park or taipei garden reently? Urgently need to decide cos travelling agent's rushing.
caesar park is more centrally located and connected to shopping mall so it will be much more convenient. But i saw many reviews that the rooms are very old and bathrooms are dirty.

In my last official tour to Taipei in last year, I along with my 2 colleagues stayed at the Riviera with a colleague, a very nice, highly rated hotel with excellent service. I can recommend this hotel for everyone.
