Hi qianqian, welcome! Hope this thread gets more active with more people joining in

We should be inviting about 50 pax. How about you?

Is your menu the $20 one? Or did you change the dishes? We actually changed a few of the dishes and added in one more i think. Hee.

Hmmm, the place is quite cosy and should have quite a nice ambience, especially at night, with the candlelights. I will leave it to them for the decorations; don't want to spend too much by getting my florist.

I have asked for both 070707 and 200707, the dates are all out.

We have decided to change ours to 9 Jun 07. Its a bit of rush but we only have these few dates left before our second appt for the flat.

Ours is the $28 menu, but i already changed some of the details for food... Flora n balloon decos will be done by him rite. the interior deco of the room looks nice enough, just hope the food is not yucky.

Wonders when is their next ROM event... we 3 shd arrange tgt go take a peek hor... then see what we can ask him to change if dun like....

Hi Lay Cheng, welcome!

Your solemnisation date is just 4 days after mine! Hee.

Hi ladies, i've not tried the food there too. But Jeffrey mentioned that he has his own caterer. Hope it's good! The stuff that he's offering should be the same, but i think it's slightly more expensive for both of you coz your dates fall on a weekend.

Hi Lay Cheng, thanks for the invitation, but my solemnisation is earlier than yours. It's on 5 June. Hee.

Maybe you and qianqian can pop by to take a look if you're free.
happy.gif
Our menu has 9 dishes and we selected more of those "western" kind of dishes because it seems kinda weird for a western place like tapestry room to serve chinese/malay food eh?

I'm not really slim le, more of average i guess. Our preparations are almost done - the dress, hand bouquet and make-up are provided by my bridal boutique too. If you're buying, you can try Lavender at Stamford House. The shop has a wide variety of pretty rom dresses.
happy.gif
Like what qianqian has advised, better shop for your wedding bands soon, unless you intend to "cash & carry".

We have not decided on whether or not we want a reception table because we have not really planned out how the schedule for the evening is going to be like...hmmm... Anyway, i've gotten my own solemniser already. Hee.

skyea

New Member
Hi qianqian, which bridal boutique did you sign up with?

Anyway, i'm very gan cheong over the wedding, so i've already e-filed. :p My solemniser is not the one sourced by Jeffrey - mine was the solemniser for my brother's wedding, so i requested him to be mine too since we are already quite familiar with him.

You're going to have a march-in? Actually i'm thinking about how the whole thing is going to be like. I don't think there's any place for us to 'hide' before the march-in right? That's why i'm thinking whether or not we should have the reception table since both FH and i will most likely be out there mingling with the guests and will only proceed to the front when it's the time for the ceremony. Haha. I dunno le...hmmm...

Jeffrey suggested that we can have a reception table and give each of our guests a ferrero rocher as wedding favours. Hee. But i will probably discuss with FH again. Anyway we are giving out invitation cards, but just a simple, self-designed one to email to our guests, who are mainly friends. But i've also printed a few copies to give to relatives.

Hi qianqian,
Make-up and hairdo will be done at your place? That's nice! I have to go down to my bridal boutique for that, unless i pay additional transportation charges for the make-up artist to come over.

qianqian

yar i pay extra for the makeup artist to come my place..

actually thinking of booking a chalet then can have a hen nite there b4 rom.. furthermore after rom can have a nite there with my FH.. hee.. but chervon is fully booked on 070707.. so sad..

Hi qianqian,
Icic. I'm still thinking if i should get the MUA to come over to my place - a bit lazy to travel down to town as my place is very near CSC. But then again, if i do my make-up and stuff over at the bridal boutique, my coordinator will be there to make sure that everything is ok. Sigh. Headache...

Wow, chervon is already fully booked? Hmmm, CSC does not have any chalet hor? I know HomeTeamNS, another club near Bukit Gombak MRT Station, has chalets as well, but they are situated quite inside. If you're interested, can check out this link - http://www.hometeamns.sg/index.cfm?GPID=44

Thks Ade for inviting us to ur ROM session.

Dun nd to pm its okie.

My solemniser was initially chosen by Jeffrey, then this Mr Lim made is quite troublesome for us, must go look for him at Kallang and he sorta keep changing the time, so eventually we chosen our own solemniser. Date booked n confirmed on 9 Jun 07.

I just tot of buying a dress off the rack n wedding rings oso not bought yet though i agree have to do it fast!
Make-up artiste oso not booked yet nothing coz i didn expect the ROM date to be so near.
N r u gers engaging a photographer?

My frens advised me to put a recept table coz it wld be better. However, i totally agree where we can hide first while waiting for our frens to arrive?

I oso tot of booking a chalet after everything but heard chevrons u must be member?

AND I M TRYING V HARD TO LOSE WT, BUT WITHOUT AVAIL! do we all stay near the west side shall we go exercising tgt n motivate each other?

DO U GERS FEEL V STRESSED OUT BY ALL THIS?

Hi Lay Cheng,
That Mr Lim seems a little difficult eh. Or maybe he's a super busy man. Hehe. Good thing you've already found your own solemniser.

If you're buying a dress off the rack, besides Lavender, you can also take a look at the dresses from Daniel Yam. Hee, yup yup, both our ROM dates are less than 2 months away. Gotta settle the preparations fast!
happy.gif

I'm not engaging a professional photographer, but getting my dad's friend to help out, and will probably ask my cousin and brother to stand in as the second camera-man and videographer. FH and i have also decided to put a reception table and i will self-make the guestbook. Trying to cut costs. Hehe.

I stay in the west, very near CSC actually...but i always finish work very late and don't have the time to exercise.
sad.gif
But i've been dieting by having sliced fish bee hoon soup for lunch on every working day. It seems to be quite effective. Maybe you can try out this method as well.

I think i'm more excited about the wedding ba. Haha. Not really that stressed out because we are keeping things simple. But i reckon i will be totally stressed out when i start planning for the customary wedding and renovations for my new house. Hee

I stay in the west side too... but doing my part time courses.. so no time to slim down also.. hee..

Hihi

Ade: Thx for the suggestion, think reali have to zoom over to Daniel Yam one of these days...
I oso have my frens and cuz to dble up as photographers, but ours are just normal digi cams, the pics wun turn up gd?

Qian Qian: I got my solemniser from the ROM website la, he is a PBM of the westside area, nice guy, v accomodating. What i think is this Mr Lim seems rather regimental. Do u have to go down to his place with ur FH to see him before the ROM? I dun reali like him, but if hes okie to u, dun nd to change can save time
happy.gif

And thks for the photos, I love the ring pillow! But do u find the place a bit dim? Might reali nd a gd photographer to take gd pics in such a dim area.

I been jogging with my cuz like twice a wk, m cutting down on food intake like what Ade suggested, eating soupy stuff, but it doesn seem to work for me so i think i reali must go exercising more often already...

This is a very stressful period for me i guess, i m taking up a part-time course too and be getting the house in Jul. We bought resale in Woodlands i think thats far from where i live in Jurong.

Luckily i have u gers to chat with n guess what?
I m excited for all of us!!!
Oh, is there a nd for hen's night?
i tot thats done for the customary wedding?

Oh i gotten my cuz to do up some invitation cards for me so its foc except for the material costs lah...

N the recept guest book, how u all intend to deco it? it is passe to put ur FH n ur photo on the cover?

qianqian

New Member
i intend to develop a A3 couple shots, then paste in on a big piece of mounting board... then the guest can just write their blessing or sign around the pix..

as i feel guestbook will only keep and collect dust.. but the mounting board one i can just hang in my room as a 记念å“.

liqing01

New Member
Qian Qian: The mounting board idea seems great hor, easy n can hang it up.

Maybe i will follow suit
happy.gif

May i know how much u paying ur photographer?

qianqian

hey lay cheng, my brother ans SIL also from commonwealth Sec..
i pay my PG 200buck for 4hours unlimited shots with 80 pcs edited and develop...

Hi ladies,

Qianqian: My solemniser is Dr Phua, a grassroot leader at Yishun. My brother had him for his wedding, and it will now be mine and my cousin's turn. We were just joking that Dr Phua will witness all the weddings in our family. Haha. Lay Cheng is right - if you find Mr Lim ok, don't have to change ba. If not you'd have to search for another one within short notice.

Lay Cheng: I think the photos should turn out ok even with digi cam. But the settings have to be right, because the place is quite dim. I'm not really into photography, so gotta leave it to my dad's friend la. Hehe. Guess what? My new place will be at woodlands too! But it will not be ready until end of this year. Good also la, coz i will only move in after my customary next year.

I think the idea of walking hand-in-hand together to the solemnisation area sounds good. That's probably the only way to have a march-in ba. Hehe. For my guestbook, i will proably use those A4 art paper, put a few pieces together and tie a nice ribbon in the centrefold. Might print a couple photo at the cover page.

Hi dears

I have checked with my cuz, she said a mounting board will easily cost $70 and its heavy etc.. PLUS its a lot of work, so i m comtemplating...
But i oso feel that if its a guest bk, then most prolly we will keep it in store n dun reali look at it as times pass by?

Talking abt this, ur guest lists, how do u all sort it out? n do u all have ur invite cards,if so, what details do u all put in?

I have tried taking pics with my digi in dark areas and many times, the pics turn out to be dark, but if taken with flash, then not as nice.
But i reali trying to budget so 3 hrs $200 is it the most affordable price? Got those 2 hrs one? maybe can cheaper?

Oh u gers giving out door gifts?
One Rocher per pax? Or its ok not to give?

Ade: ur house is the new houses nearer to Admiralty is it? or u buying resale?

Qian Qian: Is It? The world is so small, how o ur bro n SIL? Maybe i know them somemore same class haha... u can tell me how o they are?

christine

New Member
Hi Lay Cheng....

haha... you r rite... i was in the same class as u in sec 1 & 2.. :p
din expect to 'bump' into you here.. congrates to ur upcoming special day..
saw u all discussing abt photography... i think since its only once in a lifetime, it would be worth the money to get a professional to do the photography and develop a set of nice photos to keep... i got a photographer for my rom last yr and at the same time i had frenz who helped to take pics.. comparing both, there is really a great difference in the quality of the photos... till today, i still cant help but take out the photos taken by the photographer and view them over and over again...
If you r interested, i can introduce my photographer to you, she's also from Commonwealth... our senior... :p Also, i can also show you my rom photos if you wan..

my SIL is born in 1982 my bro is 1980.

hmmm... maybe our mounting board is different.. i mean those that is used during our secondary school art class one... think should be < $10..
for my invite i email them and ask them lor... cos i'm only be inviting very close fren and relative.. so no need to gif them card one.. hee

Hi ladies,
My guestlist is just a simple one for our own reference only. As for the details in the invitation card, i copied a bit from those wedding banquet invitations e.g. contact person/number for RSVP, time to be seated...etc. I've also added in one part to inform them that food will be provided and attached a map to the place as well.

I think for door gifts, it's up to individual preference. I might be giving out rochers since my fridge has two boxes of them. Haha. But seriously speaking, it does not really matter even if we don't give.
happy.gif
It's our special day le! Our guests should be the ones giving us gifts, especially monetary kind! Keke.

Lay Cheng: Yes yes, my new place is nearer to Admiralty. It's the La Casa EC actually. Is your new house near mine? Hee.

liqing01

New Member
Qian Qian, Christine n me might know ur bro coz we born in 1980 too
happy.gif

N i must ask my cuz to buy the $10 kind then, coz $70 is way toooo expensive. I b sendin them cards la, just in case they forgotten...

Christine, i sae some of ur wedding pics in frenster they r real nice. if u dun mind can email me at my email address some pics. May i know how much ur photographer charged u for the service?

Ade: Wau luckily i got ask u all, totally forgotten abt the map n to mention some light refreshments will be provided. N i totally agree on the monetary gifts, hee heee. Wau u bought that EC huh? mind sharing how much u paid? my FH n me bought a resale flat (5i) nearer to Marsiling actually, have no choice coz he wanna stay near HIS parents. I personally feel its a bit steep the price, it costs us a big hole in our pockets already... BUT HE WANTS TO STAY NEAR TO HIS PARENTS...

christine

New Member
Lay Cheng: I have downloaded some of the pics in the net... will email u the link to view the pics..
My photographer charged me S$200 for 2 hrs of unlimited shoots and development for 80 pcs of 4R kept in a nice album. Actually she stayed for more than 2 hrs but she din not charge me extra for the overtime...

Re flats... mind if u gals share with me how much they cost?? i looking for flats also... my hubby also wans to stay near to his parents which is in bukit batok... but flats in that area are either too old, too ulu or too expensive... and hubby dun like sembawang.. so considering woodlands area now coz i heard its cheaper... also quite near to bukit batok (20 mins mrt ride..) :p

skyea

New Member
Hi Lay Cheng, we bought the place for 400k odd - 3 + 1 bedroom, 111 sq m. How much did you and hubby pay for your new flat? Haha, i thought it'd usually be the girls who want to stay near their parents? Anyway my new place is also nearer to my FH's parents' place, but he wasn't the one who insisted on that. Think woodlands is good since it's somewhere in between my parents' and his parents' place.

Hi Christine: The price for my place is as stated above. Anyway i'm staying in bukit batok now! Hehe. Actually there are new flats near to bukit gombak mrt station and they are not really that expensive. My bro is staying there and i've heard from my sis-in-law that there are still units available for walk-in selection. You might want to check it out.
happy.gif

christine

New Member
Hi Ade,

Thanks for your advise. I know abt the new flats @ bukit gombak. They only have ard 3 units of 4-rooms left in this round of walk-in selection for west & north area... and HDB has revised its way of selling for walk-in. They only conduct walk-in sales once every two months on certain areas, so quite hard to get from HDB. Somemore my hubby very fussy also... so maybe have to consider resale flats as another alternative...

skyea

New Member
Hi Christine, wa, i didn't know that it's so difficult to get a flat from HDB now. Besides resale, you can also consider La Casa ah. Hee.

Hi Christine, i agree! Getting married is a joy and a headache at the same time! Hehe. When's your customary wedding?

christine

New Member
Hi Ade....

We haven really decide on an exact date, but it will most probably be in 2009. We wanna settle flat first then worry abt customary. That means we have abt a yr to source for flat and renovate. Then maybe next yr gotta start looking at banquet venue & bridal pkg. Thinking abt the number of things to do really freaks me out. Haha.... So when is ur customary?

liqing01

New Member
Christine: Thks for the pics... u n ur hubby look gd tgt
happy.gif
But we decided not to engage a photographer afterall, must save s much $ s we can. i have 2 frens who took up pg courses before, thus i will ask them to help me out.

We bought our resale flat at abt 300k,its 5 mins walk to Marsiling MRT, 5I, 126 sq m. For the next 25 yrs, my FH n me will be slaves to the flat. My FH wanna stay near his parents coz hes already thinking abt babies, stating that his mum can help take care, can u all believe?
Yes its very hard to get a flat from HDB nowadays, Christine if u looking for resale like me, do do it quick coz it took me almost 5 mths to find a flat i like.

Ade, ur EC is expensive, but since u both can affordable then v gd! i went to check out the ECs at La Ca Sa before, its reali a nice environment to live in.

I just went Daniel Yam over the wkn with my FH to look for some dresses, n i like one of it, but as u know most dresses nowadays are off shoulders kind. I haven buy it yet. WHERE CAN I FIND A COATIE OR SILK SHAWL TO MATCH? OR FIND A DRESS WITH SLEEVES? U GERS KNOW OF ANY?

My customary is planned to be held next yr too. Thinking abt the huge sum of S-11 involved is like...

christine

New Member
Hi Lay Cheng....

u can try to go Lavender @ Stamford House. They have alot of ROM dresses. Alternatively, if you are looking for very simple ones, u can try Fashion Lab also. They have very sweet dresses at times...
Btw, wat color is the dress that u saw? I have a silver shawl that should be suitable for the occasion. If it matches the dress, then i can lend it to u.
300k is quite expensive. We are looking for 4 room flats coz we dun need such big a flat. Actually, I prefer to find somewhere near my parents coz i wan my mum to help me look after my bb during weekdays. But my hubby thinks otherwise. Anyway, we have asked a few agents to source for us already. Hope we can get the ideal flat soon.

Hi Christine, my customary will be in June next year. But i'm super gan chiong la, already booked my banquet venue and bridal package. Hehe.

Hi Lay Cheng, your new place is big! And it's really convenient being so near the MRT station. Mine is quite far away from the MRT station; think it's about 15-20 mins walk away from Admiralty MRT station. Next time i must get my FH to drive me everytime i go out. Haha. It's good that your hubby is already planning for the future.
happy.gif
Most guys would want to put their careers first and wait till they are in their 30s before they want to start a family. Hehe. Hmmm...like what Christine and I have recommended, you can try Lavender because they have more varieties of dresses.
