Simple ROM

Hi all,

I'm quite clueless as to some details. If I have a simple ROM of about 8pax, is it better to hold it at the office instead of inviting the solemniser to another venue? (Was thinking of a nice garden venue, but seeing that we are just having a family-sized ROM and not planning to invite friends, maybe garden venue is too much?)

And if it's at the office, do I still wear my gown to the restaurant that we'll be having after the ceremony is done? Feels a little awkward to be walking around in the gown.

Whether to have it in another venue or ROM is really a matter of choice and budget I guess..
Having it at the ROM is quite fuss-free.

If you want to have it at a garden venue, then you will need to find a suitable venue and there might be a cost attached to it.
Also, you will also need to look for a solemniser to solemnise for you at the outside venue.

Alternatively, you can consider doing your ceremony at the restaurant if you intend to book a private dining room.

If you are having your ceremony at the office then move off to a restaurant, maybe can consider a short gown then it will not be so awkward for you?

Thanks! Might consider doing at the restaurant. But I have about 8-10pax, which is hard to find venues that is within our budget. Been searching around online and not much options out there. If anyone can provide me with your details or information, it'll be greatly appreciated! ;)

Not sure what's your budget but you can try Level 33.
Think they have private room that can accommodate 10 pax.

How's the food at Wild Oats? Any private section or room to hold the solemnisation? Cos I will feel abit paiseh to be doing it infront with other guests.

Has anyone done their wedding/solemnisation at level33? How's the pricing and overall there?

Am thinking of doing a simple ROM at the ROM office too. Anyone knows how to go about doing that? As in how to book? Tried to read the website but not v user friendly. Do I file notice of marriage and book slot at the same time?

I tried registering online abit but haven't submitted the actual data. From what I know, You can't book a slot I.e. time of your choice. Only after register, few days before your actual day you have to go down to the rom to verify documents and sign statutory declaration. On your big day, head down to the office to get a queue number (heard that it's like clinic style), so is first come first serve basis.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Those are slightly different. They have to get consent forms. But Cimorene is looking at procedures for doing at the ROM office. Not the outside types.

Those doing outside rom have to submit location of the venue where u are doing the ceremony, time and name of JP. After submitting everything, have to get JP to sign consent form. Need to produce when u go down to verify documents. :)

Hmmm... Take queue number sounds so unromantic. I saw sth abt making appt on the ROM website, but can't click anything so can't tell if can choose time. I hope can at least make proper appt, otherwise it's quite hard to plan, plus have to make our parents wait also.

Did u book exactly 3 months in advance? I'm intending to do it at midnight once it opens haha. And weekday w no special significance, so shd have less demand. Do u have to pay anything to do it at the ROM office? Hong bao for the JP?

I booked close to 3 months. I also wanted to sit by the computer until it opens! haha but at that time wanted to do restaurant and didn't realise that we actually need to have the venue/inform solemniser/get solemniser consent ready. Thought can just book first then settle venue and get consent later :(

Not sure if need to give ang bao to our solemniser at the ROM office, anyway is a fast fast process like 5-10mins. Anyone knows if need to?

Also what are the list of things that we need to prepare?

1) Rings (of cos!)
2) Ring pillow?
3) Pens (1? 2?)
4) Bouquet?
5) ______?

Hi all!

I'm going to update on my recent ROM process! Just in case anyone is looking into this thread for more information ;)

- Had mine at the ROM office (only weekdays)
- Scanned one of our ICs to register into the system (right beside the solemnisation room 1)
- While waiting for our names to be shown on the screen, we took group/selfie photos at the only decorated photo-taking area (indoor grassy patch with 2 hearts background)
- Kept on looking out for our names on the screen. Waited more than 30mins (as the first couple that went in faced some communication problem).
- Finally our turn! JP will assign who to sit where, including our witnesses
- 2 pens provided and a glass tray to place our rings and hand bouquet if any
- JP will ask which language we would prefer (I chose mandarin for the general part but when it comes to repeating after him for the vows, we switched to english. I think JP realised our mandarin cmi haha)
- After everyone has signed, we were presented with our cert and we exited through another door.
- Total process about 10-15 mins? Very fast, chop chop!
- After some more photo taking, we went to Chinatown point Peach Garden (5 mins by car) to have lunch/dinner. Booked a private room (max 12 pax).
- Choose Peach Garden partly because of our weird timing, reached about 4pm. Is one of the few restaurants that opens whole day. (Most have break intervals between 2.30pm to 6pm)
- Food was great! Service superb! The waiter uncle was very attentive and polite when serving us and catering to our needs. Maybe also cos we are the only ones in the restaurant :p
- At the cashier, the staff (Susan) complimented me on my overall look. Polite, maybe? But it did made me happy :D

So hope this helps the next BTB who is looking into a simple ROM too. Hopefully you get some information from my experience :)

Yup about there, since there was a delay with one of the couples. If not, I think within half hr can finish? You can spend some time at the fort canning park for photo taking as well :)

Hello, I'm thinking to do ROM at office this year. I'm fashion designer, so I'm thinking to design my own dress for my wedding day.
Can I wear backless wedding dress??
Thanks
