Eh, the harvey norman guy told me that sealy is the most popular brand in the US and even showed us a flyer showing statistics of the mattresses' sales in the US. Simmons is second to Sealy.

Simmons mattresses are harder than Sealy. We were looking for plush mattress, so we went for Sealy. Know nuts about serta tho.

At first, when we heard that a mutual friend got Simmons at nearly $3k, we had a good laugh and said,"what's the big deal abt a piece of mattress? You mean it can beautify you as you sleep?"
Then when we went to harvey norman to look at bedframes, I saw Sealy and thought to myself,"wah, so expensive. Let's see how different can it be?" I sat down and I exclaimed to my fiance,"Now I know why she paid so much for a mattress!"
And that's it. We bought it at Robinsons.

We juz bought the sealy brand of mattress too...! It's really great! We went to try on the Simmons one, then sealy, feel that sealy the best and suit us better... really feel good about it!

Rains how much u bought for urs? Mine for the KnightsBridge model is S$2500 including the divan bed set everything... for King size bed.

As for serta, saw IMM got selling this brand too, but didn't go and approach coz totally me not heard of this brand before.. hehe!

Sealy is USA no.1, and Simmons is No.2, as wat rains said.

Hi Shernine,

May I know whhere you get your Sealy? Were you given free pillows and protector?
I was at Robinson last nite to check out Sealy and Simmmons, am interested in the Manchester model. According to the sales, it's used by Four Seasons Hotel worldwide.
The price is a little steep tho' even after a 55% discount and a $100 cash rebate.

I am also looking for a king size bed.

Cheers

Hi,

I actuali had the idea of getting SEALY at first cos i tried at Barang Barang and it was soft and comfortable, then i went to IMM, tried on SIMMONS, find SIMMONS a bit stiff although alof hotels using, finally we settled for SERTA, a brand which was not reali on my list in the very first place, i bought the new ALABAMA range which was reali so soft and extremely comfortable which the bed can fit onto any parts of my body contours. Accdgly to the salesperson, SERTA hv overtook SEALY and is the no.1 selling brand in US now but that dnt reali matters to me. Remember that branded doesn't always means its good. As I strongly believe in trying, laying and rolling on the mattress if you can before you make yr choice, listen and feel yr body telling you which ones fits the best. SERTA is definately one of the best choice i hv made so far. Just my experience for sharing

Sheron,

Nope, from Giovanna... something.. hehe...Esther was on leave tat day.

the girls not bad, quite nice person.

Anyways, we wanted the bed not too soft, but dun feel hard like sleeping on the floor.. so feel Knightbridge model suits us lots. Coz my hubby got slipdisk, really need a good bed for his spine.

I feel tat quite good the mattress. At least, it's much better than Simmons after we tried on both brands.

IMM is promoting the Serta Albama now at at $2599(queens) and $2999(king),
Free :
2 poly fibre pillow
1 protector
1 bedframe/bedhead (good quality to me, as there is wood backing at the back of the bed).

TAKA carries differnt model. there is sales going on (checked out today), as high as 50% for different model...but no free bedframe/bedhead.

personally do not like simmons..too tough.

Sealy is famous for posturepedic coil
Serta is famous for miracoil (continuous coil)
Simmons is famous for individual pocketed spring
It's all around the same quality but only the pricing is different. But now they are trying to push for visco-elastic top which is originally from tempur

Yeap. All the three Ss are big and they have invested a lot on advertisement. Hence prices are much higher to foot for the A&P. I would say that you must try the mattresses. The most expensive does not mean it's the best.

charlesphoon

New Member
You are right wisely. But i think the price should depends on the country where the mattress is made and not depending on the model

rachel maybe you can try sealy and serta also...these 3 brands have about the same luxurious feel.Dont limit yourself to only one brand.....Try all before deciding.....

well let me give u all some advices i have done research for the 3 Ss(simmons ,sealy, serta).

For simmons they r renowned for the support for their original pocketed coil technolgy .Simmons is the first that bring in individual pocketed coil decades ago it is the orginal only orginal pocketed coil are pre-compressed. I know u all dont understand. For example when we pre-compresses a coil from a 7 inches(Simmons have the highest coil height in the market) to a stardard height simmons set, the coil actually will be insisting on getting up so we slp on the mattress we can feel the support.Imported from USA,Japn,Korea,Canada,OEM malaysia,OEM China n OEM Thailand

Sealy entered Singapore market not very long Sealy are renowned for their Posturepedic coil we call it open coil all the coils are fully connected with wire.Posturepedic coil have sensory arm n triple off set it is said to be able to adjust to the correct alignment for our body.Sealy mattresses are mostly very comfortable.Sealy is the world's best selling mattress. Total Sales figures (world no. 1) Sealy + its two other sub companies.Sealy also have very wide price range(cheap to very expensive)as compared to Serta n Simmons. Most range Asemble in Thailand.Only some Unicase(expensive) from USA

Serta is the youngest in Singapore mattress industry compare with the other 2.Serta is renowned for its mira coil technology is also name open coil fully connected with wire among the coil, n their comfort level for mattress. If serta says it is no.2 no one dare to compete with it for comfort level. But Serta these recent years did come out with their pocketed coil series for their mattresses.Serta did also won the title (We make the world's best mattress). Most range asembled in indonesia. practise OEM(original equipment manuafacturing). Some from USA.

Well If u wanted support higher can go for Simmons,if u wanted Comfort level higher go for Sealy or Serta open coil(motion transfer high) are used to make soft n comfortable mattresses. If you want support n no motion transfer between u n ur partner can go for Individual pocketed coil.If u only more concern about enjoying of comfort level 3 minutes before u slp u can go for open-coil Sealy or Serta.Only Simmons USA range can be compatible to Sealy n Serta for the comfort level. If u r more concern about the 8 hrs of sleep u will need good support u can go for Simmons.Choose a mattress according to what your needs.Hope it will help u to choose a mattress wisely

hi there,

i bought mine from ackerman in the recent expo sale - simmons platinum kingsize without bedframe for $2499..pillows and mattress protector thrown in.. apparently from japan

i dun remember seeing the charlston... how much would it b for king size?

wat was the difference in feel and quality?

hi there,

I bought a charleston recently from ackerman at TPY for $3539 with bedframe for king size mattress and bedframe. They throw in 4 pillows, 1 bolster and mattress protector foc. If you only purchase the mattress alone, the opening price that the salesperson gave us was $2999, but think can still bargain...

In terms of feel, i think charleston model is the most comfortable simmons bed i tried (in the price range that i'm looking for that is), even when compared to their so called heavenly bed i.e. glendale model. But again it depends on individual preference, because if you like a firm mattress then you might not like this model :p
