Hello,

Am currently a SIL bride and was wondering if anyone would know where I can get satin peep toe shoes? Heel Hgt: 3.5 inches. Seen a couple from Leapin Lizards, Loe and Behold.. anywhere else? Prices are kinda steep though..

i am very very disappointed with Silhouette.... Signed up a package with them... Thought they are good, so I top up another 800 to do a MTM WG with them... But both me and my HTB was speechless during the first fitting.. not because it was so nice but it was..... dunno how to put across but not flattering on me.. The evening gown, the designer use horizontal lines on my waiste area and it makes me look worst.. I was wondering what went wrong.. They kept saying it looks nice one me and kept insisting that if I change I will need to pay more and keep promoting it was good... I took the photo of it and show my friends... Common senses and basic Home Economic teaching told them horizontal line suxs on plump people and worst at waist area... when I asked for redo or reappointment to discuss, attitude was shown.. Hang the phone even before saying goodbye.. soooooooooooooo upset... really very upset...

actually frankly speaking, we were already very polite to them and didn't really comment anything negative.. but please... Brides who uses their services are their walking signboard... how can such things happen? they didn't even tell me what to bring for first fitting and ask how come I didn't bring... Hey come on... It is my first time getting married and how would I know? Now If I add on to the package, damn the whole thing will cost what? $5.3k? Best, they told me I can drop their EG and they refund me $400 or I do another one at $400 more..... This is sooooo upsetting... really upsetting!

Hi Yenzy... So sorry to hear about what happened to u. Think this is the worst nightmare that any bride can imagine.

So what do u intend to do? Drop their EG and get another one elsewhere? I have quite a few friends who bought their gowns elsewhere when it turn out to be a disaster.

Which designer did u use?

I'm quite surprised that such things happen. I thought silhouette always have very satisfied customers.

Hmmm.... Quite stressed after reading ur thread.
I m going to make a MTM EG with them. Hope it turns out well.. Fingers crossed.

if you are not Size 12 I think everything will go well for you... I have thick waist and short body... Guess what comes out? Almost mermaid dress with horizontal line.. if you want you can look at my facebook.... sigh... You see, I still trust their workmanship... But please as a designer it is your job to tell me what looks nice and design to flatter and not design to fatter.. And If I am so speechless and went back a second time to look at it, then stop pushing me to accept it... No one says the EG is nice, one look... WAH LAU so fat... what's wrong? she started to show attitude when I went back the second time... said things like, well if you don't like the WG, we can go back to the initial boring normal design... ok ma... Safest and normal... sigh.. if you don't like EG, we have to change the whole thing.. Top up money...

oh dear rol, so sorry to hear abt this..i can imagine how upset u r cos gowns r 1 of e most impt part of e wedding.. r u @ e stamford branch? so e WG n EG turned out totally different from wat u've discussed with ur designer? Is there any other designer whom u can talk to at SIL or e boss?

yenzy

yah stamford.. WG not really totally... But surely not A Line.. And initially I thought they gave me their runway bottom and try to surpass it as MTM... but after checking, it is confirmed it is MTM for bottom dress.. I apologise.. And indeed sorry for that assumption. but EG is so so cmi for my figure.. when i wore the EG for the second time, they ask me what went wrong? I can't tell but it has no WOW effect.. I was deeply shamed when i showed my friends and told them the price i paid..

OIC. I'll be tough for u to work with them again given this horrible experience.

Why dont u ask for a refund on the EG and go get another one from another studio?

pinkglove

Hmm... why not just take e refund n use tat $400 to get ur EG elsewhere then like wat tinktink has suggested? don't feel shamed girl, at least u can have a refund to do ur EG somewhere else? It's ur wedding, u gotta wear something u love.

im also getting a bit worried cos i tried on both A line n mermaid EG n initially i was quite against mermaid cos i've a heavy bottom but after i tried on their mermaid cut EG n A line EG, we decided to go for half mermaid cos A line looks a bit too normal on me & e mermaid looks surprisingly not as bad as compared to wat i've initially thought.. now, i'll just cross my fingers to hope my MTM EG turns out fine..

Like i mentioned, I still trust their workmanship... And am seriously considering spending another $400... If I were to refund that $400??? The whole package will still be so exhorbinant...

i am going down to discuss again... i really hope no more attitude issues... cos my HTB is not going to give face anymore.. if not guess, worst case scenario, change shop... now in a Dilemma on whether to speak directly and change shop if no choice..

rol> i'm a size 12 so my gfrens were pretty horrified when i tell them i want my big tulle gown. it helps if you can always bring a few friends who are pretty good with fashion to go down for your fitting and talk to the designer together. are you using lace design? it works for us if you use the corset type of design for top with a drop waistline in V shape to make your body longer and look leaner?

the original concept for my EG was to have a "slanted waistline" at my hip/thigh area but my hips are so wide n big that my gfren said no. so we kept talking and discussing abt it and we came up with a few sketches for me to visualise and compromise on bringing the waistline up. i got thunder hips and elephant thighs unfortunately.

if you can .. go try a few off the rack dresses in paragon / tangs and then see what type of cutting suits you best? alternatively, request to change designer? my EG took me about 5 trips down to the boutique before we finally agree to go ahead, understand it's very stressful for you too. hope it works out for you!

pebz> i have an idea ..not sure if you are "pandan" though? you can get those ribbons customized with embroidery stitching for you n your HTB name (like Pebz & HTB-name) and then get leapin lizards to stick it on your shoe for you? they will have the right type of adhesive to use. if DIY with wrong type of adhesive, the label might come out due to our weather.

i know some shops able to use the sewing machine to embroider the names on material but the army market ones the letters are all the straight formal type. if you want pretty cursive writing .. needa search around?

ok... done with discussion.. she automatically reduce the redo to $200. today she was all smile when serving.. at least didn't make the session that bad at all.. she suggested not to alter anymore on the old gown but she gave me her honest opinion and drew her concepts on what she thinks will make me look better but with darker color but more diamontes.. but today, good thing is she didn't rush me to decision. instead, she gave me the photos and ask me to consult with like-minded friends to vote and come back to her with the decision.. phew....

whichever it is, it was the initial service that made me very upset with... but their workmanship is still one of the best hence when they suggested me to withdraw the EG from them, I was pretty hesistant as I know I can't find else where with the same quality... Thank God that all things ends ok today.. hopefully the rest of the time will be smooth journey..

on another thought, maybe they also read this forum... haha...

Rol: glad it went well... My wedding is in May, I've receive my photoshoot pictures and I'm really happy in them... But before that, I also had a lot of doubts about my gowns, so I can understand how you feel.

Can you share with me who your designer is? I'm really shocked to hear such attitude... If not can PM me. I'm asking because I have girlfriends interested going to Silhouette...

Rol: Glad to hear that you've managed to sort it out in the end with Silhouette. So far, my experiences with them have been great. I've signed the Valentine's package with them, and am now also working on my MTM EG.
Could you share with me your designer? I'm really surprised at your unpleasant 1st experience. you can always email me: [email protected]

Rol: I am also a sil ex bride. I used to be in the same plight as you, encountered bad service attitude from a designer at stamford hse. Not sure if you and I are referring to the same designer? Slammed the phone rudely without saying goodbye, showed bad temper when I requested to change the gown design. This is really non professionalism displayed from a designer boutique! Anyway we only wed once, so whatever it is, please do not let this incident affect your mood and please make it a point to go through your pre wedding preparations happily!

it is just being her... her temperament and attitude is just being her. and it defers to each customer... however, she did tone down during our 3rd meet, perhaps being told off or reflected i dunno... of cos if you are sensitive enough, you will be able to hear her double meaning in a sentence.... but she is known in this forum to be curt and straightforward..

wah!!! rol...
i am also a SIL bride...i am afraid going to have the bad experience that u encounter before...cos i am having the feeling that someone there is really a litte attitude problem. mind to share with me who your designer is? did you try to ask to change designer after that? you may pm me at [email protected]. thanks!

I have a feeling I know which designer you all are talking about...... But maybe it's because she simply has a very unfriendly face. Everytime I smile at her, she NEVER smiles back.. And I'm the customer! Lucky she's not my designer.
