Michelle, their lace gowns are lovely but personally I think you can get cheaper lace gowns elsewhere. They're better if you want those big, glamour gowns. Their speciality is more on tulle or big gowns.

Only, do you have any photos of Gin's work? She's my MUA too, Caroline chose her for me as she says Gin will suit my style. I'm curious to see how drama her makeup is as the pic I saw of her work was a natural makeup.

Hi Michelle
My friend did a MTM gown with SIL, Minda has quite a big collection of laces with vintage lace and others. Perhaps you want to arrange a session with her?

When the pictures are ready I'll post them up on multiply:charmagod

You can see my trial makeup pictures in there, but the make up is a lot thicker when you see in person, but looks good on photos.

By the way, 86 creation did a really good job for my photoshoot bouquet, black and hot pink roses. I bought my own ribbon and ask them tie.

thats interesting! how do we go about choosing our bouquet? Just go to 86 creation and pick from the pictures or do we have to tell them what we like? I have absolutely no clue on flowers....

I had no clue too, best is if you cut some pictures of your preferred choices. I dont think they are great with ideas, but with some discussion and plus she is really flexible and patient in terms of timing and top ups are very very reasonable. Unlike poppy... eeks.

BTW, did anyone here choose a tulle gown with silver details at the bottom of the gown? I chose that skirt but am now confused over the top. The top that was recommended to me has got a lot of elaborate silver embrodiery (sp) all over but I'm a little apprehensive as most brides seem to have simple tops.

I need ideas on the top!

carebearz: sounds very glam to me! my top is corded full lace...I guess if the silver details at the tulle bottom are very heavy, then its good to have something simpler at the top. But if the silver details are scattered at the bottom, then you should have the elaborate silver embroidery at the top....then again, it depends on whether you are comfortable?

Pearl_Chin,
It is a little glam; I was worried about it being OTT. But after trying so many dresses, Caroline and my SO said that I didn't suit lace gowns or even the tulle gowns with sparkles.
They said my personality needs something more dramatic to match.

I'm on the heavy side, UK size 12-14, so am worrid that the all over embroidery top will make me look even bigger. But Caroline said it will hide my pockets my fat and will make me look smaller instead.

if your personality needs something more dramatic, i think the silver embroidery sounds good. dont think it will make you look bigger..

is the details all over the skirt or just the bottom? if just the bottom, it doesnt sound too over the top.

initially I wanted a full lace gown but even before I could put it on, Caroline was saying that I will not be able to carry it off well ...and true enough, didn't look good on me! After that, I also tried on the different cuts of gowns and then took on Caroline's suggestion. Perhaps you should go along with Caroline's suggestion...and communicate your ideas with her to find your ideal gown

Hi gals,

Care to share some pictures and package details with me? I'm a BTB in Dec and have only started sourcing around now. Any help that you can offered is very much appreciated!

Kindly email to [email protected]

Thanks in advanced!

Hi gals, thanks for all the helpful tips you have given me all these while. I totally love Silhouette & Bridal Veil, and i'm torn between the 2 of them. Taking months to decide. But i have decided to settle with Bridal Veil. As 1 last visit to Silhouette yesterday confirms it. I realised, with the price i'm paying (5k) for both, I can actually get a MTM WG from Bridal Veil. And FH loves service from Bridal Veil very much. So there goes...

Btw, Caroline attended to me. And she is realy really sweet. So for future BTB with them, you can go to her.

I've got a few enquires here:-

1)Did you gals have trouble getting in/out of the car with such a big tulle gown? I'm planning to use my dad's car to cut cost.

2)As SIL only provides, WG & EG, do you ladies buy additional outfits for the pre-wedding shoots? I'm worried that the album will look boring if there's only 2 outfits.

Thanks.

hi ladies, I was reading through this thread and realised that the package that most ppl are signing up seems to exclude photoshootings... which means about 4-5k package w/o any pre-wed/AD photoshooting?

Just wondering if you have opted out for that or that's a completely different set of cost?

Hi Carebearz,

Getting anywhere is difficult with the tulle gown. I experienced in during my photoshoot!

But you know what, get your dream gown, just squeeze into the car. Cloth can squeeze and compress. Why penalize the look of your dream dress just cos you want to be comfortable in the car for 30mins right?

Anyways, unless your car is super mini or like an R2 then I see a problem, normal sedan or mpvs should be fine. Squeezy uncomfortable, but what the hell right. Looks more impt.

And like what my friend who jus got married say, on you wedding day, nothing can spoil your mood on that day. You will be a happy cheerful bride.

Hi Anticipate,

Its a different set of cost...but Silhouette does tie up with some photographers so you can check that out, if i am not mistaken, it ranges from $1200 onwards.

Hi Carebearz,

Totally agree with Only. Dun worry about the trouble to get in/out of the car! I am also wondering if I need to add in more outfits but I will get another dress to have a photoshoot in the beach if I decide...dunno where to go for photoshoot also.

Hi Anticipate, Sil does have bridal package that include PS. You may want to check with them directly as each month they tie up with different PS.

only,

Will the tulle gown become crumpled or crushed after you get out of the car? BTW, what size can can did you wear?

If only I can wear their OTR then I can ask to borrow an extra gown for the photoshoot. Unfortuantely, their gowns are so tiny!

juztea

I'm wearing the biggest can can... it makes my waist a lot slimmer. Especially on photos it gives a good illusion. Hahaha...Plus big can can easier to walk. The smaller can can in person looks better.

The gown doesnt crumple at all. No worries.

Tried to upload some pics on multiply but kept getting a javascript error. Sheesh...

I'm looking at the Oscars and tabloid magazines for inspirations for EG.

I chose the design already - just browsed through Oscars and Vogue website and decided on a gown with ruching details in shocking pink. The pink dress that Natalie Portman wore. Went to see Caroline on Tuesday and decided there and then when my HTB took his measurements. Dunno if its a decision too hasty as I never really did much research.... I have also finished choosing the fabric

actually, I thought of wearing a kua....however, the ones in Silhouette are those with embroidery...I prefer the ones that are beaded. Then again, I slipped on a kua and I looked so wierd in it...so I am still thinking.....

hiyo~ long time no write

recently bought a cheongsam for a performance (non-bridal related) and the auntie was quite nice..

so i told her i'd help her spread words about her cheongsam services cos her shop is tucked in a corner so I duno if anyone knew of her existence! She has many OTR cheongsams for sale, from $88 onwards. MTM cheongsams start from $188, special materials $200 above..

i bought 1 OTR , and i think her cheongsams look v nice from outside, the worksmanship but those cheaper OTR ones, the inside work is not perfect (as in loose threads or no piping) but cos i bought OTR and it's for a show, so i didnt really bothered.
however, i think she has nice works. If you want to MTM, then do make sure she does a good job, inside out!

so if u're keen and free, do pop down to her shop and take a look, let her know u knew of the info online and see if she can give you a discount.

The address:
Gold Scissors ?????
Blk 32 New Market Road
#02-1126, People's Park
S050032
Tel: 6532 6659
It's in Chinatown, the market at People's Park, the shops is at the side nearer to OG

there are 2 cheongsam shops there, the other shop is generally $100 more expensive. So can check it out too.

hope this helps~

sorry the auntie has 2 shops.
1 at #02-1126, another at #02-1116
both are the same, the former is a smaller shop, more like a showroom the latter is a bigger shop with wider selections

thanks oinkiepoink for that!! Shall visit the shop one of these days. I went to scout around today for tailors. Thought Zann & Dann was not bad also. Kenny who attended to me was very friendly and nice to relate to. He quoted me 380. Still scouting ard since i still have the time.

im just seeing she doesnt seem to have much biz la haha~ cos tucked in 1 corner.. and she does have some nice CS.. but i duno how open she is to designs / fabrics for MTM.

another place which i think has "modern" CS is Ted Collection.. but i think they are not cheap~ can check out the Ted Collection thread in SGBrides

disclaimer: i've not been to Ted Collection, and for the cheongsam auntie above, i've only bought OTR before

The other cheongsum shop I know is Max Couture at Katong Shopping Centre. Pretty good workmanship at good prices. The designs are really modern as well.

I agree that Gin's make up is very natural, and she is very effortless with her techniques too. She did my make up trial a few weeks back and everyone loved it. So Im not sure about getting dramatic makeup from her, maybe if you insist that you want that from her she will modify her style.

hi gals,

i popped by silhouette without an appt today. i fell in love with a lace gown and the package they offered me was pretty similar to what you gals have shared...except that the otr WG and EG are only for rental, top up for lace is 500, and o-studio/lighted pixels (yi xin) pre wedding shoot included. kenji did not mention anything about kua or accessories. the package sells for 4998(+500 for lace gown).

this is the first BS i visited. should i be negotiating for more perks? do share some tips with me..
