hi

can i check if anyone has MTM their wedding gown with SIL before and how is it like?
cos I have a friend who MTM her wedding gown with SIL. Her MTM wedding gown is an exact replica of one of the OTR wedding gown. However the end product is not the same and not as nice as the OTR wedding gown

Hi! I just been to SIL yesterday for the first time. It's the 2nd time I'm trying on gowns
happy.gif
The first was at Amanda Lee's. I like both but the cost is definitely higher at SIL
sad.gif

The train is definitely bigger and grander than those at Amanda Lee's...I'm caught in a dilemma. Any advice? (Will heavy trains really hinder movements?)

Can anyone also share the package that you have gotten at SIL just for comparison? I'm attending the wedding show at Copthorne on 25th July too but want to make sure before I sign.

Thanks!!

Hi thelovelyberry, like you I went to Amanda Lee too. Agree that cost is def higher at Sil. But the effect from both gown is different too.. IMO, Sil tulle gown have the WOW factor, grand & princessy. Of coz, go for Amanda Lee, if you prefer some colour on your gown.
I signed up last mth during their amoy 1st yr promo. You can find the price details i share on earlier post.

Hello thelovelyberry. I am attending the wedding show too. Tink amanda lee's cutting are quite nice and the quality of the gown is good. I like the one i tried cos it fitted me very well. But they din haf the poofy tulle skirt kind OTR. Silhouette's wedding gowns haf very grand skirts with very nice details. I think it will look extra stunning during your march-in with all the long long poofy skirts with the detailings. But their top did not fit me as well as amanda lee's but i tink it should be much better with some alteration.

Hi thelovelyberry, can share AmandaLee Package details? I have yet to visit them, as I thought they were much more expensive than SIL.. I love SIL tulle gowns. They are amazing!

cocotintin- intending to take EG elsewhere cos dont see anything nice at SIL for now. if i see sth nice after the show, then will pay the additional amt top top-up the EG. u ordered the vera EG online?

was also considering between amanda lee and sil and caught in dilemma. it all depends on what you want. for tulle gowm, sil wins hands-down (i'm not taking tulle from SIL as htb prefers me in non-tulle). for embrio, go for amanda lee. amanda lee's mtm package starts fr 4200 ++, got to top up generally. was quoted to top up 600 for mtm embro gown and 200 for embrio sash and 200 for train longer than 1.5m (1.5m quite standard length already so this is optional) and MTM EG
(cant rem whether need to top up) together wit hthe standard makeup and flowers etc. the designer is heather. amanda lee's price will be higher.
got my OTR non-tulle/lace gown from SIL so dont need to top up and overall price if i were to take up the EG from SIL will be about 800 to 1k cheaper than AML. if u take up tulle/lace gown from SIL, maybe price at sil maybe higher. really depends on your choice. i find that AML comes across as being inflexible but think they are quite ok after u sign up with them while SIL is more warm and flexible. personally like the embrio gown with colours at aml alot but worried that mtm gown may turn out differently and also htb likes the otr gown at sil the best which i like enough so sign up for SIL which saves money for us too.

visit sil and aml more and u will eventually be able to shortlist. i visited AML 3 times and SIL 3 times too. Once alone to check out various bridal shops, then brought my htb to see my shortlisted gowns then when the tastes differ, brought along a gd gf to help.

jia you. ;)

cocotintin: ya. she MTM the same design as one of thew OTR dresses. turns out its not as grand as the original piece and structure not exactly very similar.

so in the end, my friend still took the original piece.

Hi Jovanka & bebelee, I definitely agree with you 2. SIL gowns really have the WOW factor with the poofy tulle gown. I could visualize the grand entrance with that big train trailing after me =p But...seriously the price is really too high. The amount quoted for me is similar to what bebelee mentioned before, will come up to be around 5.1k excluding MTM. And I think I will definitely need MTM, coz the top don't really suit me
sad.gif

On the other hand, I do like Amanda Lee's gowns too! There's more variety, and the ones i tried on are made of duchess satin which is really elegant
happy.gif
It's really a tough choice but I brought my fiance there today and he really like Amanda's designs
happy.gif
My designer was telling me I could wear a bigger cancan or add length to the train and some pleated details to 'poof' it up.

Oh, I saw AManda's couture designs today and they are really gorgeous! But a pity those are not in the package

Phylline - I have a mtm EG with Silhouette, and IMO, their tailoring is not the best around. They're still good at what they're known for - pretty princessy tulle ballgowns
happy.gif
which was the reason why i signed with them.

The only other part that frustrated me so far were the fittings for the photoshoot. I felt that they didn't want to alter the size much to fit my frame (petite size).

lemonmist: oh.. i ordered from The Link and it will take 5 months to ship to sg. yeah i agree with u that amanda lee specialises in emboidery so those of u who likes embroidery or colours or even something loud, u can consider Amanda Lee.

Sil's niche is towards the princessy ball gown.

Phylline: ooo.. wat a pity.. she end up did not manage to wear her MTM gown. I hope mine will turn out fine. *fingers crossed*

Hi Ladies,

We dropped by the Wedding Show over the weekend, we decided not to sign up any package yet, just being prudent, came to do some "research".

Any one care to share their best bargain with SILHOUETTE - THE ATELIER? (Package Content & Price).

Appreciated... hear from you soon :)

thelovelyberry: does yr 5.1k include mtm EG? i took up the MTM EG (rental) instead of MTM EG (to keep) so save on the $300.

SL: whats IMO?

cocotintin: yah.. in the end she didnt get to wear her MTM gown. Thats why my friend cautioned me on MTM with SIL. when will your MTM gown be ready?

asheC: my AD is on 12 Jun. Guess you will be working on your design pretty soon as your AD is in March and you probably be taking your PS this yr? Think they do have nice range of satin gowns too and we should be in good hands of kenji.. lol~

Hello! I'm an ex-Silhouette bride and my wedding was just a little over a month ago. I had a good experience with them and it was just fantastic.

I could really leave it in their hands and I just relaxed almost all the way. I did not have to worry much though. I had a big tulle gown! keke! Very princessy!

bebelee,

Thank you. Joey was my MUA and it was good. I just left everything to her, she gave me ideas on how I can style my hair and her make up style is natural kind..

Pebz, do you know if joey has a website or anything where i can refer to? I can't decide which MUA to choose as not all of them have portfolios online. Thanks so much.

bebelee,

I have no idea on this either. I basically left everything to my designer. She sort of matched my MUA.

Hey bebelee, Joey was my MUA. She's pretty good and very professional. Very easy to relax around her as she's quite friendly. Her portfolio is on her FB site (which you can ask her for) and she's done a lot of magazine covers like 8 Days etc. She's also had a lot of experience doing MU for various photography studios so she was able to tell me what to expect during my PS
