Hi ST,

I bought Slumberland Royal Princess. Felt very comfy when I lie down on it. But the mattress has not been delivered to my house yet coz itz still under renovation.

Mattress is very subjective. Every brand carries many different models. You will have to try lying on the different types of mattresses before deciding which one suits u.

seems that full latex non-spring is coming very popular ... although the prices are still rather high.

but i guess all brands are about the same ... you need to try them out and see which fits your needs.

well let me give u all some advices i have done research for the 3 Ss(simmons ,sealy, serta).

For simmons they r renowned for the support for their original pocketed coil technolgy .Simmons is the first that bring in individual pocketed coil decades ago it is the orginal only orginal pocketed coil are pre-compressed. I know u all dont understand. For example when we pre-compresses a coil from a 7 inches(Simmons have the highest coil height in the market) to a stardard height simmons set, the coil actually will be insisting on getting up so we slp on the mattress we can feel the support.Imported from USA,Japn,Korea,Canada,OEM malaysia,OEM China n OEM Thailand

Sealy entered Singapore market not very long Sealy are renowned for their Posturepedic coil we call it open coil all the coils are fully connected with wire.Posturepedic coil have sensory arm n triple off set it is said to be able to adjust to the correct alignment for our body.Sealy mattresses are mostly very comfortable.Sealy is the world's best selling mattress. Total Sales figures (world no. 1) Sealy + its two other sub companies.Sealy also have very wide price range(cheap to very expensive)as compared to Serta n Simmons. Most range Asemble in Thailand.Only some Unicase(expensive) from USA

Serta is the youngest in Singapore mattress industry compare with the other 2.Serta is renowned for its mira coil technology is also name open coil fully connected with wire among the coil, n their comfort level for mattress. If serta says it is no.2 no one dare to compete with it for comfort level. But Serta these recent years did come out with their pocketed coil series for their mattresses.Serta did also won the title (We make the world's best mattress). Most range asembled in indonesia. practise OEM(original equipment manuafacturing). Some from USA.

Well If u wanted support higher can go for Simmons,if u wanted Comfort level higher go for Sealy or Serta open coil are used to make soft n comfortable mattresses. If you want support n no motion transfer between u n ur partner can go for Individual pocketed coil.If u only more concern about enjoying of comfort level 3 minutes before u slp u can go for open-coil Sealy or Serta.Only Simmons USA range can be compatible to Sealy n Serta for the comfort level. If u r more concern about the 8 hrs of sleep u will need good support u can go for Simmons.Choose a mattress according to what your needs.Hope it will help u to choose a mattress wisely

Got a king Serta mattress, bundled as a whole, with the bed frame & a free crouch. Managed to get 2 sheeps (their icons), 2 mattress protector & 2 pillows as freebies. Abt $3199, from their showroom at IMM. Salesman was Oh, was friendly, frank and honest, and knowledgeable. No hard-selling, and no pushing for the most ex mattress. Overall, felt very comfortable lying on the bed, think is some Minnesota model or something like that. Nice overall.

Hi Lok, what's your cost for the king serta mattress. It's a real bargain to get two sheeps, two mattress protector & two pillows. How much is your bedframe?

I'm looking at Serta Alabama king size @ $2,999.

Regards

Hi - Where can I get a good price for Sealy mattress. Went to Takashimaya and there was this really comfortable mattress, and the price is just as steep. I'd like to know whether I can get a better pricing somewhere -- have anyone purchased the Grand Supremacy or Excellence? Please advise. Thanks.

hihi...

i also bought my Sealy mattress from Robinsons... i bought the teddybear series... and wat i like abt Robinsons is that they are willing to match any lower prices offered by them before delivery... hee.... their service is superb!!

and josie.. the name of the mattress at big deptal stores like Taka will not be the same elsewhere.. cos they 'customise' accordingly... if you wanna compare apple to apple, must really study the specs of the mattress..

ohh.. i mean the foam and materials they used for the mattresses at these departmental stores are different from those you see at their bed gallery... eg. you will not san mario (robinsons) at sealy bed gallery...

I got a shock when I contacted the distributor in Malaysia.

The same Slumberland Royal Emernald is selling in Malaysia for $1300 but in Harvey Norman, it cost $1799 (after 10% discounts somemore!!!) I believe if I go to the retail shop and negotiate, I can even get it cheaper + delivery to SG!!!

tingshen

Went to Slumberland agent showroom and found out the price in SG and MY are similar. That means Harvey Norman is marking at least 39% additional on top of the basic profit. This is MADNesss.......

beware, before you want to make any purchase in Harvey Norman, do find out prices from other places first.

Digging out this 1 year ago thread as I don't know how to create a new one.

I placed order for queen Slumberland sanctuary $2098 (this and all prices I state include bedframe) but now decided to go for King ($2499). Then I tested Slumberland Royal Princess (king $3199) and find the pillowtop so much more comfy than sanctuary. Sanctuary have thin pillowtop plus very hard springs beneath making it not as comfy to lie down on my side.

The thing now is, if I going for Royal Princess which means increasing my budget to $3299, are there better king beds+frames from other brands that I can go for like the Simmons?

Sealy and Serta springs are all connected to each other and not individual pocketed right? That means I can feel the movement when my wife toss and turn, which is something I do not like.

Also, read from some other thread that Dunlopillo Duchess is cheaper and very comfy as well, also wondering if that is comparable to the royal princess.

The company i buy from carries many brands so I can change if i want to.

Any advise?

We very much wanted to get the Simmons bed but it costs freaking $4.7k including bedframe.

In the end, we settle for Serta King Size + bed frame, 2 lambs, protector, bedsheet, 2 pillows and top up to get the bench ..costs us $2.9k

i just tested out Slumberland Royal Princess and Royal Bliss at IMM. I will say both are really good. Princess has a softer feel, and it has a layer of cushion on both sides, so you can flip on either side. Royal Bliss only has a layer on one side, the lady mention that Bliss don't need to flip wan. I was quoted 2698 for Princess and 2800plus(forget price) for Bliss. You can top up with a storage bed frame(with headframe)with $300 or a normal headboard n divan for $100...
I just wonder will the price differs if I go Robinson??
I have yet to try out other brand like Sealy..will go again this weekend

Robinson doesn't carry Slumberland if I'm not wrong.

I was told not to adopt any Wool pillow top. You may end up your lungs full of wool eventually.....

Hi SY Chen (csy),

how did u buy the bench? was told only certain model can buy..i bought the serria hill...exclusive for taka only..

I've just placed a deposit for a Slumberland Royal Excellence at Bed**** S****. Around $3500 with 2 pillows, a mattress protector and free Slumberland windsor bedframe..Was also in a dilemna during the process of choosing mattress..Tried all the Ss, serta, simmons, sealy, slumberland etc..We narrowed down between Simmons beautyrest backcare 4 and Slumberland Royal Excellence before deciding to go for slumberland .Think that it offers the most value for money. The coils are individually pocketed, with latex plush top and layer of jamu wool on it. The sales person also said that no glue was used to stick the layers between the mattress unlike other big brands. Well, it sounds pretty good to us as imagine breathing in the toxic glue fumes emitting from the mattress daily when we sleep *gasp!*

I haven't heard anything negative about wool though. But shouldn't pose much of an issue bah? It's not like we are sleeping on top of the mattress itself with our nose facing down. The mattress protector and bed sheet would be additional layers between the actual wool top and our nose. In fact, the salesman was saying wool's good for pregnant women and old women as it can absorb excess water content from our cells. Haha, but saying again that there's the mattress protector n bed sheet between the matress and our body, guess that advantage is very minimal if there even is! It's just the wool material is really comfy to sleep on. That's the main advantage to us. =D

Considering that a similar range with wool and latex could cost more than $5k for sealy or simmons, think we got quite a good deal by choosing slumberland instead .

absorb water?! then where would the water go?! stay inside and then pump back to your body later?

Doesn't make logical sense to me.....

henrywoo1978

New Member
Well don't really think it will absorb water lah.. Anyway the wool is actually (according to the sales lady, and also from my experience from sleeping on the bed for the past month) to act as something of a sweater, so when you are cold, the bed will give you additional warmth. And when the weather is hot, you will not feel that hot when you sleep on the bed.. (but of course not to the extend where you totally feel comfortable will no need fan to sleep lah... )

Cheers

Thanks

Wow... good deal for you, dreamer11. I just bought the Simmons Beautyrest Concerto queen size mattress from Robinson. I like it because it is firm and good for the back support. Initially we considered to buy backcare 3 but since this model (concerto) is cheaper and provide good support too so we just go for it. It is $2099 and come with standard freebies like pillows and protector. I also considered Simmons beautyrest glendale before but it is too soft for my hubby so we dropped the idea. Robinson member will get the 5% disc plus $20 gift card if you shop by 31st Oct. Honestly, I never try Sealy, Slumberland or Serta before. I bought Simmons because it was recommended by sister in law and frens.
