Fion: ya alot of my guest complained that the regent is inaccessible. And on my wedding night, it was pouring before and after the dinner so it made things worse! But they came even though they complained. Haha. My guest attendance was about 95%! so I don't think u should be affected by the fact that it's inaccessible.

Tas: no they didn't charge extra. But they said if I can't hit the new min table of 25 then I'll still have to pay for 25 tables. That means there is a minimum spend that I must meet. I hit the minimum spend with alcohol too.

Nefariouskat: i chose summer thoughts I like bright colours. But winter is very elegant too!

Fion, I got 8 pax though originally they only gave me 6 pax for free. But I ended up invited both families for food tasting which ended up with 14 pax. Hehee

So I topped up additional 6 pax. I think for tanglin room, can only bargain for 8 pax. Unless you do dinner or have ballroom as your reception, you will only get 8 pax the most for food tasting.

I did my food tasting on 30th dec 2010. I know it's a bit early, but since both families were present, I thought it could serve as somewhat reunion dinner. Heheee

I didn't ask for helpers room because I will take care most of the details.

PingSparkle, I also did not engage VG. my AD PG is my friend and he's a free lance PG.
But, if this is your only wedding reception, perhaps you should have because it's once in a lifetime experience ;)

Hi Maow, yrs is a 9 course menu? Mine is 8 course, probably there will be additional charge if I change to the ballroom. Anyway hope i can keep my guest list within 20 tables then dont need worry le. :p

HI all, I missed their wedding show. However, i have arranged to meet the coordinator, Natalie, this saturday to view Tanglin Room. I saw the package that she emailed me, there are 4 themes => Elegance, Opulence, Emotion and, lastly Jazz.

Is Jazz the latest Theme you've been talking about? Could anyone advise what i should look out for when i meet the coordinator this saturday?

Hi Shirlene, if i am not wrong, the wedding fair perks are applicable till 28th Feb. You may want to look through the package and see if there is anything additional that you need and try to ask for it (ie complimentary food tasting which is not included in tanglin menu). According to my coordinator, the perks at the wedding fair are already very good, so i am not able to get more out of it also. Most importantly is whether u like the venue and if it fits yr budget... thats my opinion :)

Shirlene: hmmm.. that's weird cuz i asked my coordinator during the wedding show about jazz and she said it will be phased out soon? the other time i emailed her abt emotion, she also said it will be phased out. so which is which?

Shirlene, jazz is not the new theme. I am thinking to use emotions as the theme for Tanglin room. I think only elegance and opulence are still there because the recent wedding show they only show cased these two themes. L'amour for ballroom is also being phased out though it's a nice theme

Shirlene, you can download the package from Regent website. I agree with Tas that the wedding perks from the wedding show are already very good. You can bargain for food tasting, free corkage for hard liquor brought in, car park coupons, more red wines per table.

I signed up before the wedding show and did not get additional perks

But if I did not sign up before, the date would be taken. So it's a trade off.

However, I am sure that whatever new themes Regent come out with, it will be awesome.

Jazz is the golden+green theme.. it's been there for a very long time.. elegance and opulence are the newest themes, thus they showcased it during the show.

can ask for free wine corkage too (i did that, but removed the hard liquor corkage instead)

latte: when did you sign? I was offered the wedding show perks before the wedding show too..

Can also ask for extra night stay / helper's rooms (overnight of cos!) or corkage for everything!

like to seek some opinion, as one of the perks for the wedding show that just ended was an additional 20l beer.. i read that ppl don't really drink beer for wedding lunch so my free 20l should be sufficient already. What do u gals think? Cuz we tot that the most worthy perk was the additional beer.

They also have 1 bot of red wine for every 3tables. But we will only be having 16 tables, so that is like 5 free bots only?

nefariouskat, it will depend on your crowds. I thought you can choose 1 additional free nights and 1 night anniversary instead free 20L beer or 1 wine every 3 tables? I could not find the perks anymore, so I am not sure what the perks are.
If between beer or wine, I will choose wine since sweetlove said that the wine is nice.

Latte: ya, we are intending to choose 1 additional free night and pondering over the extra beer or wine. Was thinking of getting the beer as it seems to be more worthwhile as compared to the red wine as we will only be getting 5 bots if we go for the red wine.

Nefariouskat, actually, how many of your guests drink beer and how many drink wine. If your guests drink more wine, then no point to get the additional beer as that might have left over at the end and cause you to get more wine for the guests. Vice versus for the beer. If it is 50-50, then you can maybe weigh up the cost in gain? The wine is about $30+ pet bottle? Multiply by 5. Then cost of the 20L beer. That will give you an idea if which to go for.

Hope that help you to better gauge.

Yeah you have to see whether your guests are more of wine or beer drinker..

by the way, also nego for invitation cards/ anniversary stay (executive suite leh.. normal price around $500!! eeks..)

When you are nego.. perhaps you can let ur co-ord know what other hotels are offering and that you are comparing.. so u can ask for more stuff abit more successfully? :p just my opinion it may not work.. hehe.

30-33 tables, then you can take the ballroom. It's nice. I like the theme for ballroom so much especially seasons in the park

hi sweetlove, a bit stressed leh. many requirements from parents. want this, want that. Then need to rush with the printing because they need to send off the invitation by end of this month. but I don't understand the chinese wordings, so i need to consult someone whom I could not find anywhere. Need to give the confirmation by today.

also guest lists are ballooning to 20 tables now from original 16. But this is happy occasion. But... if it keeps ballooning, no more seats leh...

havent done the PS also.

how come u haben do PS? DC gowns not ready yet?

latte: when's your AD? how come you're sending the invitations but you haven't done the PS?? for the guestlist.. remember to 'reserve' 1 table for urself.. coz i planned 20 tables and i forgot my own bridal VIP table!! >.<

AD 15 may. I just confirm whether my guests can come or not, then I will send them invitation mah. if not, will waste the cards because it's only 70%.

wendy, so in total you have 21 tables? can squeeze into tanglin? hehehehe

i don't think tanglin can squeeze anything more than 20. fortunately i haven't sent "save-the-date" invitations yet.. just planning.. so i did some reshuffling of my guests.. shifted some over to my lunch reception instead.. *phew* i am praying very hard that i didn't miss out anyone other than myself tho. >.<

Latte: Eeeks! Seek help from your friends! Dun stress and do everything by urself. u need to inform someone u can trust about all the details, esp since you are supposed to just relax &amp; enjoy ur wedding day..

What I did for my wedding was to check with them on FB/SMS, send out "save the date" invitations via email (yahor havent post that in FB!) and get them to reply me ASAP. Most of them should know if they are able to go.. So when r u gonna take ur PS?

By the way ladies I do design &amp; printing of calendar cards for your guests as well! Pics of it can be found in my FB photo album "Wedding preparations".

Bzbz: I add you already. Ur profile pic is so nice!! When is ur AD?

Hi gals... for those that took tanglin room, are you all fine with the projector screen at the front? I am abit worried that the last few tables are not able to view my montage clearly. Any advices?

yup alot of space.. in fact most of my guests came early and the lounge area was full of people ( as seen on my VG's pic he posted and tagged me in, and in the evening highlights video)! Behind stil got space.. I got no patience to do a photobooth lol! But im sure Regent has lovely backdrops (such as the bubble lifts, piano at the lobby which I had a 2pc band playing) for you to take photos with guests if you got no time to do photobooth.. hehe!

cant wait to go back there for my anniversary stay.. hehe!

Sweetlove: ya gotta agree with u that The Regent has many nice places that are good for pic taking. Like the staircase and the path leading to the lifts on the hotel rooms floor. My PG is so lousy! He didn't take any of those shots!!! Anyway I also looking forward to the anniversary stay! Though mine still has a long way to go. :p

Bzbz: I think u can start deciding where u want to put the table with your photo albums etc. Cos on actual day u won't be free to decide and put. Most prob your bridesmaids will do it for u. I've seen one wedding where the photo album table was placed at one corner and no one knew there was one! And the groomsmen gotta shift the table to somewhere more visible half way thru the reception. I'm sure u won't want that to happen to u! ;)

I tend to prefer handling everything by myself.

tas, last time my friend did her wedding at Tanglin room. I did not know the opinion of others sitting behind, but I was sitting in the middle and still able to enjoy.

Shan, I think nassim and tanglin are quite similar. only the length differs by one room. The reception for tanglin is quite ok in my opinion.

Maow: Haha.. I dunno when to take leh.. Dunno want to use it for TTC (lol!) these few mths or use it closer to our actual wedding date (which is around oct since my AD is early nov).. I scared I preg then how to enjoy!! LOL..

Shan, I think I will choose emotions. I like the stage decor

sweetlove, i choose coaster and salt and pepper. I want to choose spoons, but my wedding co-ord said that it would not be available by May.
