I have Evelyn as my oordinator. very business like too. I can't get much from her

what i do not really like about regent is the 'too open' cocktail recept. area and the recept. table seem quite out of place. Beside I also do not like the back-drop. a bit 'old'

btw, anyone view the jazz theme? I wonder how is the whole set up...

I see so many good comment on Oriental, that I am now a little lost.. which to pick.

I had my wedding at the Regent. Overall, it was ok. The food was good. The staff were helpful... and the Jazz theme was beautiful. However, we did have a glitch. The hotel could not set up the projectors on time. They had a function before that and they had to rearrange everything for my banquet.

They could only get the projectors to work, with the sound by about 7:30pm. So, we could not have a proper dry-run before that.

So, during the video montage section, my Emcee gave the wrong cue (because he did not get to see the montage since there was no dry run) and the lighting and sound was ruined. Basically, the video montage did not come out well.

So, in the end, we refused to pay for the projectors, which the hotel agreed. Of course I'd rather pay for the projectors and have proper montages, but what can I do? It's all over.

I didn't quite take to Evelyn. I thought she was quite cold and yah, business-like. And her smile seems to be quite expensive - she doesn't show it often.

I think glitches are very common in weddings. In fact, one ought to count himself lucky if there's no glitches at all. I'm expecting to have some glitches and I'm prepared to take them in my stride. If not, the whole meaning of a wedding will be lost. It's only a montage that didn't turn out well. It's so much better than some brides who wanted an outdoor wedding and it rained I thought. That, would really be disappointing bcos the whole theme of wedding will have to be changed at the last min. And you don't have to pay for the projectors. Smart devils you are! If it were me and my fiance, we would have "guai guai" paid up and cursed under our breath.

Evelyn is ok after you have signed the contract. Before you sign the contract, she's very defensive because she's probably worried that you might ask for more of this and that (which we all do).

I find Regent to be very sticky about their package, and we had to do some heavy duty negotiating.

I had to negotiate the terms of the contract too, because it's extremely punitive. Be very careful. Don't sign on anything you're not prepared to live with. And no... the contracts are not standard. Wordings can be changed.

Oh... and never 'guai guai' and pay up if the hotel did not deliver as expected. I had to do the discussions with a mild hangover the next morning. It was not easy, but it had to be done. I could have pushed them for more compensation, but I thought I should be fair to them as well. They did do everything else right. Since the video montage was the problem, then just take that out of the bill. After which, my emotional distress is really my own problem, and not theirs.

I spent a lot of time on the video montages. That's why I was upset. I had to scan the old photographs, and clean them up one by one because they were in bad condition (scratched and faded). Then I had to inject the music and time the photos to the music.

But overall, I'm quite satisfied with the wedding lah...

i'm also considering regent. wonder if should go for the show or will they extend the perks from the show to me if i don't go. isn't the price for the show of $15/pax a bit ex? most wedding shows r abt $20+/couple rite? i hope itz worth going haha!

The Bentley was not rented. It was borrowed from a family friend.

The food and service at Regent were all good. I think Regent has the best food I've tasted so far. I don't know how they did it, but the standard of the food on the actual day was quite close to the food tasting.

The only downside was the AV system. Perhaps you should watch out for that.

Wedding shows? Don't know anything about that. I did go to Michelle Huimin's fashion show, but not a wedding show which I have to pay.

There're two designs to choose from. I should think the one from Lil' art is more classy. You can do a search on their website and you'll get to see Regent's cards - last one I think. They actually put the name "Regent" down. 3 colours to choose from: red, cream and black.

I held my wedding dinner on 12 Sept 2005 @ Regent Singapore. My coordinator is Evelyn and I am so upset that she refused to give me 2 projectors even though I added on more tables. Beside, there is minor kock-up during my wedding highlight. The technician forgot to remove the cover!! so half of my guest missed the first 3 second show. I quite upset on that...but we still "guai guai" paid for the projectors. Haizzz....

now i am so lost as all my other short listed hotel dates are taken. I am left with Regent. Though I do like their theme, my FH do not really buy Evelyn. Find that she is too aloof.

Life, don't think you should live with different coordinator each time. Didn' experience this problem even though I have min tables. Did you make prior appointment with her?

For cards, I like the one Regent got from American Wedding Treasures.

Joy Joy, don't worry too much about Regent. Think about it, good food, nice ballroom, boutique style furnishing in the lobby, 1-1 service, good choice of miracles... As long as you think the contract fits your needs, we can live without some extra if all else memorable for our wedding. Also there will be a heart-shape flower decor in the bridal suite (I checked with few hotels, no extra decor!) Also you are the bride, you must feel good about the whole place?

My coordinator is Ginny, believe she is Catering Sales Manager. Even though business-like, I still find reasonable.

Ann Marisa, I think it is only reasonable you get the complimentary tic if you have signed??? This is the only time you get to compare all the Miracles at one go instead of attending 4 different wedding just to check out the miracles.

Last thing, we had dinner at Summer Palace and sampled some dishes, the restaurant manager is very nice. She helped us check with chef goh if the dishes we like can replace some on menu. As long as chef agree similar value, I find them flexi.

Jenz, I understand that food sampling is to taste all dishes. When I had dinner there, I witnessed the chef at 2 tables asking for comments dish by dish.

My co-oridnator is also Ginny. She is nice although always talk in business like tone. She even helped me with suggestions how to cut costs when I wanna do up with my own confetti, decor.

seem like most coordinator are very business like in Regent. Probably to up-keep with the 5* reputation.

I will be attending the bridal show and see what the theme like.

I am getting the basic. free flow on beer, 1 night stay, 6 person food tasting, choice of one theme. and that all. will only enjoy additional perk like corkage free if sign on 9 Oct.

Did anyone manage to get LCD & projector for FOC? What others perk should I be requesting? Though of asking for one more night but the chance of getting it is soooo slim..

Would you be able to borrow from your company LCD?
You have not signed right, just take note if your date is one of the auspicious dates on Regent calendar, you top up S$30 per table if you sign up during wedding show. Otherwise, I think it is good you get the free corkage. I will be getting wine from hotel as the per bottle is not too expensive from what I can get from wholesale, except of course I have not tasted.

They didn't inform me abt the change. Every time, they just called to say we are to meet them to discuss this-or-that. So every time, I thought different pple deal with different thing. I expected to see them in diff outfit from the coordinators. It didn't occur to me that we're passed like a ball until the third time I met up with them, they change again. I thought he's in charge of the cards and menu with petrina as my coordinator. Then as I left, it struck me that they probably changed hand again. The next time if a diff coordinator talks to me, I'll ask.

Regent is quite class I feel. Every time I mentioned my wedding is at regent, the response is,"Very ex." I thought that sounds good enough - pple should give bigger ang pows, I hope.

I know how you feel about evelyn. I was worried I would be stuck with her. I'm glad I'm not.

Life, we are paying for the banquet afterall and we have to have at least a say. I believe the team is professional, and I don't this should happen at all, why not speak with Ginny about your concern? She is the Catering Sales Manager. She spoke with us all about the banquet in meeting 1, we called to clarify and we settled the deposit in meeting 2.

juz wana speak up for evelyn. my fh n i think she's nice, helpful n friendly. duno why so many negative comments abt her so far. i think she's approachable. wif regards to getting perks. i think itz only far to give sthg up in exchange for other perks. if everything also want then how pple do biz like that haha! also paying for muslim n vegeterian is common practice at all other hotels. but what we're getting at regent, as in themes, u can't get at other hotels hehe!

anyway, on the whole, we're very impressed wif what we saw at the show and are glad to sign up wif regent. oh we're also happy to have evelyn as our coordinator cos i feel like we're in good hands

Cybie20, agree... show was well organised ... if you managed to speak with lora, they are flexi with each theme... you can combine, change flowers, setting etc, thought that was Regent's strong point - flexi! We found the same applies for the menu too.

Went for the show and am undecided what theme to choose. I like the Jazz stage setting, the Dreamz table set up and the tranquility one in general.

The only concern we have for the tranquility is that the stage and ballroom would be quite bare when you take photos cos there aren't any decor above the waist level. Think there is a dinner coming up on Oct 23 with that theme. So, can go check it out.

Ann_marisa, flexi in the sense I like the Jazz flower holder & arrangement for a chinios theme, minus some obiang arrangment in red, all okayed by Lora. Like the candles, but really bare, alot of $$$ to add if want add flowers to candles.

For chinios, only one with coloured table cloth for guest table. The setting for each table very elegants with the unique choice of plates. Only chinois and jazz under Lora.

Like the idea of lighting candles instead of cutting cakes. Thanks for info on upcoming dinner!

Small girl, why did you need to top up? Isn't it complementary? Bridal suite not bad leh, where partition closes, I understand they could arrange a heart shaped wreath... You can request to see the suite as well...I believe there are several, I only saw one!
