Hi all,


I intend to propose my gf next and will like to buy a diamond ring in the coming week. I will like to seek your opinion on the following rings below. Which will be your preferred choice?



1) 0.32 Carat, G Color, VS2 Clarity from Brilliance Rose from SK.

2) 0.5 Carat D Color, SI1 Clarity, Hearts and arrows from Meyson

I got budget of $1k for diamond ring; wanted the best but tie by budget. Any recommended popular shops? Prefer to go to named companies.

I hope to keep my budget below 2K or around 2K.
The ring as above by SK is within my budget. I'm considering getting that ring but I'm also concern whether 0.32 caret will be a concern to my gf.

So how's the spec for the 0.32 carat?? Are it able to bring out the brilliance of the diamond? I got mine at 0.2 carat, but it seem like quite a big carat. Alots of my friend say is nice.

The spec of the diamond is 0.32 Carat, G Color, VS2.
I guess it should quite ok except the carat.
Not sure if she mind if it is too small. Though she mentnioned 0.5 will be fine and does not like the diamond to be quite big.

I might look into 0.32 carat, no choice but raise my budget. Besides SK / Citigems, any other shops to recommend?

What is max that you can go up to? If your budget allow, i will recommend you to go for high grade diamond but middle range price. i got my ring at defred, they only provide colourless diamond and i find the price is still affordable one. If you want, i can send you the picture of my ring.

Went to SK recently and saw the below:

Color : D
Carat : 0.44 Carat
Clarity : SI1 (One small dirt can be seen on the side of the ring, the rest i believe is not on the surface)
Cut : Not very sure but its the True Love series from SK

Cost is $2089 after discount.

I might go to Love & Co, SK & Soo Kee to compare. See actual thing & ask price at the same time.

At first i also never heard of it before, because they only customise to loyal family and celebrity. Is already in the market for 25yrs. Appear in high end society magazine.

My bf said he will propose to me but I have been 'urging' him about the proposal. Am I hurrying him too much? He said he will propose in 2011, but I have been raising the same topic about proposal for umpteen times. I feel like an evil person. Am I mean to my bf? I told him if we were to prepare for marriage then he gotta propose first, if not no status to prepare? Am I right to say that? Is it a must to propose first? I said before i need no big diamond ring, small one will do, but does it require him to take long time to get it and propose?

my situation is almost the same as yours...my bf not yet propose to me. But we discuss our wedding plans/wedding issues..He will propose to me next year & we already got our wedding dates out next yr. The reason why he not yet propose, is he wants to save up more money to buy..he is very busy wif his work..no choice, i will do the planning on my own, however if there is a need to discuss anything, we will discuss, otherwise, i can make the decision on my own (minor stuff).If any dong gua tofu..he knows my character, he will need to bear consequences & face the music to both parents!

Perhaps, you can discuss the reasons why he will propose to you this year. Instead of urging him, this may be negative, this shows that ni heng xiang jia gei ta. This is not gd on your end too, cos he may get over your head anytime!

I quite like celestial from goldheart, it was very bling, and it was available in the setting i wanted, with 5 or 6 claw. The svc we had at orchard ion was quite good.

for brilliant rose, i think they have it with 4 claw only.

if really tight on budget, can buy during GSS, they have good discounts however the discount is not much for the special range e.g. Celestial/ Brilliant Rose, more of the standard diamond rings...
