Hi Coco,

Hm....$500.00. What are the items that are included within the $500?

Even if you are willing to pay. I would suggest that you look at what the florist can offer you 1st. If it's something like the ballroom decor. Well, they have only two color themes, gold and peach. I don't really like these two colors. See what they can offer suits the ambience of the restuarant or not.

by the way, when's your wedding ?

Hi Xrystal,

Congrats...So which decor theme will u choose? I went for their bridal show recently n realised that the table cloth for all tables r peach colour...i dun find it nice....dun know can request them to change to white?

xrystal

Hi Fel,

I choose the peach color theme. Well, for the table cloth. I actually asked for white previously, but only available for restuarant.

I think there is peach and green table cloth.

I don't really like the peach theme as well. Feel they should provide other themes.

hi Xrystal

my wedding is next year, but if i chose to have it in the function room i can't have the package because i've only 15 tables. meaning i've to pay for the wedding cards, decor, beer...and they advise me to hold it in the restaurant, but i'm afraid the decor will be a bit "cheena". but i'll call them to arrg for an appt to see the set-up

so you chose the peach color theme, think it will looks better than the green...

HI coco,

sorry i was oversea, how much each table depend on the menu u choose. i choose the 468++ if i am not wrong. i have only 17 tables that day.
Manage to ask for 20 litre of free beer. They do provide some flora deco but let me pt out something abt having it in restaurant. the walk in way for the couple is very short. DUn expect a long one.... the stage and the VIP table is very near....

But my guests all like the food serve that day. we change the shark fin soup to a eight treasure seafood shark fin soup which is very unqiue to all the guests.

when the soup is server, they were all shock cos the soup is green in colour but when they have it they said is very nice and very diff from what is normally serve as shark fin. cos the soup have alot of seafood and alot of ingredients in the soup. they said very worth. u can considered that too

Hi girls,

I am back!! Hope all is well with all of you. Glad everything is over. Finally can rest and enter into anyother phase of life. IT can be quite stressful. Actually, most of the time I don't know what's happening already. I left it all to my coordinators and helpers.

Did any of you girls pop by....? Any comments ? well, I personally like the slight change to the decor.I have flowers on the napkins for every guest, etc. We change the flowers on all the tables as well. One of my friends attended another wedding just one week b4 mine. She actually spot the difference.

well, for the dishes...I defintely have some comments. I dnt know how many of you order the $618nett menu for the ballroom package. I change the dessert to Mango sago puree. It's far too diluted as compared the the ones i tasted at the food tasting. Also, if you guys ordered the ginseng chicken, please ask them to include the ginseng so that the guests can see. Otherwise, some of them may wonder why the chicken may have a funny taste.

As for the food portion, not to worry. it's sufficient. All my guests are satisfied with the portion.

feel free to contact me.

Marco,
I don't have your email address. but feel free to email me at this acct, [email protected]

Hi Xrystal,

Congrats on ur wedding!!

Can I check what flowers did u use for your decor? Any extra charges for the change of flowers? Do we request to meet up with the florist and they will arrange for a time to discuss the details?

How's their service for the dinner? Any complains from your guests?

How many tables did you have? Were any guests being blocked by the pillars?

Hi Xrystal,

Can you send me a photo showing your dinner deco setup? I'll be having mine in the smaller ballroom and I am not really comfortable with their colour scheme. It'll be helpful if I can know what improvements can be made. If possible I'll like to change color scheme and use better flowers.

please send to [email protected]

Thanks in advance

Hi Xrystal,

Thanks for the feedback. I've emailed u. Waiting for yr reply. Btw, if possible, can also let me know how u coordinate with the florist? U r using yr own florist or the 1 provided by Plaza?
Please let me know more. Thank U.

Hi lchin,

If you have not seen the ballroom, would suggest you go down and look at the actual setup. Defintely, some guests are blocked (about 3 tables). I booked 26 tables + 1 reserved.

So far, no other complaints except for some of the food that were not as nice as the food tasting. Please see earlier posting.

One comment that I have told Marco as well.... Try to ask them to set up the bar counter elsewhere if your ballroom is Stamford. It's quite unsightly to have the bar counter at the start of the red carpet.

If you want to contact the florist, would suggest you to call up your hotel coord to link you up to them. They are using June Florist. Peggy is the one I was asked to contact. I wasn't charge cos' my change was minimum. Actually, most florists wouldn't charge if the flowers you requested is in season. But, you would need to check with them.

If you have time, meeting up with florist would be good to minimise surprises.

Hi Xrystal,

Thks for the info. My dinner will be held at Plaza ballrm. Have seen the ballrm and tot tat there will be some tables being blocked, bt depends on the no. of tables and arrangement loh
Will try to ask Tony regarding the florist. Agree with u that shd meet up with florist to minimise surprises.

Hi lchin,

I have been down to Plaza Ballroom. The layout was for 36 tables and none of the tables was being blocked by the pillars. Pretty satisfied.

Counting down the days.

Hi Dan,

When is your big day? Did u book 36 tables for your dinner? Will there be any dinner held at Stamford ballrm on your big day too? Any recommendations to reduce confusion for guests in case they go to the wrong ballrm?

dan

hi lchin,

Mine is on the 23rd. I have 37 tables.

I am taking the Plaza Ballroom. Although the floor plan given to me is showing 2 tables behind the pillars, both of them are in full view of the stage.

I guess the easiest way to reduce confusion is to have ur potrait on the easel stand close to your ballroom when the guests comes out of the lift.

As to Stamford ballroom, i am not so sure. But it really does not matter.

hi all,

I'm back.

Glad it is all over.

I am lucky Plaza Hotel do not have 2 banquets on that day.

For those who has, i suggest u put your potrait at the entrance, so that ur guests will not be confused. Try to get your parents or/and you to stand near the lift lobby too.

If you have 2 banquets on the same day, you may or may not want to have a cocktail reception, cos it will very confusing when all the guests mingle together.

hi dan..

Thanks for the feedback? So how's the service and the food on yr wedding? Any pictures to show us?
Congratulations!

dan

hi maro,

Thanks for the blessings.

During the reception, the waiters and waitresses were not readily available. Try to ensure that they are ready for the reception. Try to get a head count from the banquet manager.

If you are going to have a video presentation, the projection screen is right on the stage. (the ceiling type) Do be there early to set everything up.

Albert Bulner, the banquet manager is most helpful. He will guide u thru all the proceedings.

The food was surprising, it as tasteful as the food tasting. Good compliments from the guests too.

Hi Geneva,

i am oso thinking of going to Plaza. My fren just went for a dinner on saturday and she said everything is good about Plaza except for the bridal suite which is not very impressive. Maybe I will go to their bridal fair to check things out.

hi all,

I had just recently hold my wedding there and was very unhappy abt it. most of my guest complained abt the location, food and service in the hotel. i regretted taking up their package.

the co-orination is very poor and I'm still very upset over the whole incident

Hi Fel,

I took up the plaza ballroom too. The march in area is very short amd cramp. There was two banquet and the whole cocktail area very messy.According to my guest, the standard of the service and food drop alry as compare to previous

fel

Hi elaineong5,

so u also took the plaza ballrm...i thought 30++ tables for the ballrm should be spacious since that ballrm can cater up to 48 tables?

i'm getting more worried...cause this venue is choosen by us...initally hubby's parents wanted resturants cause better quality of food..but i prefer hotels cause of bridal suite

Anyone has attended wedding dinner at Plaza Hotel recently? Any comments about Plaza Hotel's service & food?

Hi geneva,

I just attended a wedding dinner at Plaza Hotel last week. I would say that the service is very good. The banquet coordinator and everyone else are nice pple
happy.gif
They are very good in coordination and organisation of the whole event.

Food wise, it is normal and better than some other hotels i would say. Of course, it is quite a simple food fare for the price u are paying. If u want big dishes like abalone, duck, etc of course u have to pay more then
biggrin.gif
But on the whole i would say that for the price u are paying for this hotel, it is definitely worth it

Hi KK, are you refering to the hotel food or Si Chuan Dou Hau rest. food? Does the food come from the same kitchen/chef for both venues?

anyone knows?

pausini

La La,

Hotel is hotel chief, Si Chuan Dou Hua is the restaurant chief. Cos i have my wedding dinner int he restaurant.

Oic. so which one is more reputable for good food? The restuarant right?

I am considering the place for my wedding next year. It'll be on a Sat and for 20-25 tables. Any comments? Really appreciate your help!

kerenelu

Hi Lala,

I am referring to the hotel, not the restaurant.

The restaurant does serve nice food too. I have eaten there before and it is good
happy.gif
To me, restaurant food is always nicer than hotel food, considering the same price range for both.

On the other hand, if u want the ambience and the service, go for a hotel
happy.gif
So it largely depends on what u want actually.

Hi kk,

Thanks. I am looking for yummylicious *slurp* food!

Although the layout of the restuarant is a bit problematic coz got some blockages here and there, I am willing to overlook the ambience/setting as long as my guest leave with a satisfied stomach. : )
