Hi anything,

I'm thinking of engaging Ray for studio and outdoor PS. Care to share more about his style and experience with him? He seemed rather quiet and stern....

May I know what is the package you took from him and whether he does 15R cos his 10 by 12 " size seemed strange...would it?

Ray's style is to tell u to do whatever u want with yr hubby (jump around, piggyback etc) in front of the camera. you can see some of his work on his website. He only gives directions for some of his signature poses but other than that he tries to capture both of you 'in-action' or how comfortable you two are with each other.
he is a little quiet but when he's at work, he does try to get the couple to smile. i guess ultimately you need to have chemistry with the photographer as well. i've heard of a photographer who insists that his potential clients meet him before both parties decide if his style is what they want (and if the couple is photogenic enough for him).
i signed on under ted wu bridal... there was a promotion at the time but i don't remember the details. anyhow i got to choose 80 photos out of the hundreds he took. some will be in smaller sizes while others will be larger because each one is a collage (a few photos on one page). hence the 10 by 12 size i think.

I have no doubt abt his work but I'm a little worried that we may end up not having much nice photos if no one is going to direct us. DUn think my hubby and I can entertain each other for so long...hee.

That's quite a no. that you have selected...hv ya seen your photos yet? What ya think of the 10x12? Not sure if it's odd size as compared to other S8R or 15R...

anyone engaged Ray for AD photography? will you be able to share samples of his work? I'm not in sg at the moment and can't seem to find many AD works of his on his website and am seriously considering him for our wedding. please help! thanks ladies

i got my photos less than a wk after the photoshoot to do my selection but have not gotten the album yet. think it'll only be done in early jan cos of end year (xmas etc) events. i dun tink it'll be odd sized tho.

yes i got ray to do my AD. that's what he's best for actually. he has a knack for capturing the important shots at the right time. i dun think u'll regret with him as yr AD photographer. for photoshoot if u want something more pose-y than you should consider other styles cos like i said before, ray's style is to take photos of you in action and not give specific directions regarding how you should pose (except in some shots or in my case have slightly crossed eyes...sniff).

glad to hear taht you think he's a good AD photographer. i haven't seen that much of his AD work so was a little unsure. did u get to see more of his AD work at the studio? we got andrew choi to do our PS ... so i think Ray provides a style for our AD shots which I like.

i signed on with ray based on ted wu assistant's recommendation. didn't really go to the studio until a day before my photoshoot - and then only to familiarize ourselves with him. i also signed for the AD at the same time that i signed for the PS. so i guess i didn't feel like i needed to reassure myself further since already committed anyways.

Are your photos fr your PS out? how do they turn out? Ve you selected the photos? I've booked Ray for PS in Jul. Also one of my close fren getting married next Sat and she's using Ray as well for her AD. Will get to see another of his works... hehee...

How did your photos turn out? U din really sound very satisfied...hope the photos were good...

i am planning for 3 wedding receptions beginning with one this weekend. time is not on my side and i haven't really posted in the forums except for this one because i wanted to reassure ppl considering ray as their photographer. perhaps because my replies are to the point and that's why you feel i'm not "satisfied". i mentioned in an earlier post that i signed up with ray merely based on recommendations from a designer boutique, which should indicate that ray comes highly recommended.

his collages (framed) cost $500 a pc i think. i personally did not enquire nor did he push me to get one. sorry i have no idea what you mean by collage package. i signed on a package with my designer that included ray as my PS photographer. I also signed him as my AD photographer because he's even more recognised for his great AD shots.

finally, yes the photos were good. got alot of praise from relatives who got a sneak preview last night. there are some photos on my website that u can look at.

bochup ..great pix and great site.. very cute!! I'm working on mine too but it is still in shambles. You know... it turns out that Ray is booked for my wedding date. How dissapointing!! but oh well I managed to find another photographer i really like. *crosses fingers* hopefully he doesn't get booked from right under my nose as well

Ray did a good job for my studio & outdoor. Despite that the weather wasn't good and I'm definitely wasn't good in posing, everything still turns out fantastic. 2 thumbs up for Ray!!

hi all,
i also engaged ray to do my photos for PS and AD in feb this year. and i must say that he is really good. in fact, almost all of the people who have seen our PS and AD photos have commented that his work is really good. it's just his "eye" for the details and things that people don't usually notice or see. even the uncle at the photo developing shop said that my photos were well taken when i sent the film for developing to give my relatives.

he used digital for photoshoot and then film for AD.
u can see most of the photos he took for me here. See First and Third Row (SG photoshoot and wedding) for Ray's photos. And see here for a list of the vendors I used for my wedding. They were all wonderful and all played their part in helping to make my wedding a memorable one.

can i check with you regarding Et music. u kept mentioning that they are slightly more expensive. how ex are they? thinking of getting one. are they good? i mean putting house music and jazz is quite new and i seem to feel that their house music dominate the pieces they put on their website.

i don't rem the exact price but it was only about a couple hundred more. Not alot but significant if you're on a tight budget. Yes the band was very good. I got the jazz trio and my crowd was more than 70% family and friends of my parents. they also have alot of other options available.

I also used Ray as my AD photographer for my wedding last Saturday. He did a fabulous job! Really!

I thought that my AD pics will never compare with my PS shots, when you can really play around with angle and lighting and all. But I now prefer my AD shots!

The photos were exactly what I thought AD shots should be like, and the reason why I chose him- vibrant pictures that capture the joy and excitement of a wedding, and capturing the details for the couple to cherish for life.

Ray is really very very good.

Really glad that bochup recommended him to me last year!

nope. Raffles ballroom no space for piano with my maxed-out tables. Besides, Trio is good enuff cos the focus is on the bride and groom. So no need to splurge on something like a piano or a singer cos then the attention is on the piano/singer.

the usual PS - studio and outdoor...i went fort cannin for the outdoor since ray suggested. his other usual place are like marina south n botanic garden (he will go where u suggest too, max 2 places. however after 1 place already dog tired liao)...he is real good with the greeny (nature) and tts wat i like.

for studio it all depends on u lo..i mean wat other dress(tea dress)/casual wear u wan to wear other than ur gowns....my fren took bikini shots and ray was ok with it.... so depends on ur creativity.

jus received the call tt my photos are ready for selection...so gan cheong...keke...

so hv u manage to contact him n get the quotation? drop by his place and see his works to decide whether u like his style. he make a rite choice...no worry..

I signed up with Ray Ong for PS thru` Ted Wu. Does anyone know whether he offers discounts on the AD packages?

In addition, I found that he states the number of photos for AD by rolls of film. Anyone knows how many photos there are per roll?

I didn't sign up with Ray for PS so not sure if there is any discount offered.

As for no. of photos, there are 36 pictures in each roll. And you can be assured there is minimal "wastage". Ray used about 15 rolls of film for me. And out of the 400 plus pictures, only a few were not included in the album (cause the eyes of some of the people were closed or the expression is not as pretty). Every other picture was just fabulous!
