Had our wedding at Park Royal @ Beach Road, would like to highlight some of the issues we faced with them as a warning to others who may be thinking of signing the banquet with them.
In summary, these were the issues we faced with them:
1. Hiccups in payments (e.g. charged and billed to our credit cards when we did not give them the go-ahead to do so)
2. At times, the arrangement made with the banquet person does not seem to be accurate (e.g. wrong food order etc)
3. Guests allowed access into the bridal suite if they requested for the card at the counter (actual day) - The GM replied that this is their hotel group's normal practice
4. Guests were allowed access into another guest's room when cards were requested at the counter (next day)
5. During the wedding march in, their banquet staff shouted across the hallway and walked across the procession - the general manager wanted proof, of which we showed him the raw video, he then replied that the banquet staff were not aware of the procession and did not respond when we asked if it should be the couple's responsibility to inform their crew.
6. When we checked out of the bridal suite, they called us in the evening (after another couple had checked in for half the day) to inform that we were responsible for a damage in the room. When asked why he did not highlight before the next couple's check in, again, he replied that it is a normal practice not to have to inform before the next couple check in.
Not only were they not apologetic, the general manager's justification were usually pointed towards: 1) its the way their hotel group does and 2) they were not aware (many a times implying that it is the couple's responsibility to ensure things are see to).
I have to say it is a very nice venue to have your wedding at and if you are lucky you would get a competent banquet IC (which I did). But it would be good to sort out what are your expectations as the bridal couple in informing banquet staff of matters and to inform them if do not want to allow guests to be given cards to get access into your bridal suite (as you may have valuables and ang pows there). Remember, with them, black and white is important.
