Hi,

Anyone has any comments on the wedding banquet in Crown Prince? Is the service good? I have seen the ballroom, it was really beautiful (comparable to Orchard Hotel). Any comment and advise is welcome. thanks :)

Hi red,

I'm actually considering Orchard Hotel. Never been to Crown Price, is it without pillar too ??
What abt the price is it nett or +++.
I have a friend's sister who had her wedding
there 1 yr back. She said the service is good
and the food also not bad. May drop by to take
a look

the price is nett...and come with free flow of beer...so u could save up at least $1000. There are pillars but they are on two side of the room so it should not affect the guest view...take a look :)

Crown Prince also provides a merc ( with decor)for 8 hrs if you book them during the weekends.
The menu is also pretty good.Includes lobster,abalone....etc.

Hi,

Anybody been to wedding dinner at Crown Prince?
Heard that they just have this ballroom 2 years
back and is still very new. How is the service and food? Thanks for the feedback.

Hey there

Just booked my banquet at Crown Prince...quite a no. of perks like free flow of beer, free merc (E200)and the usual works. But he parking lots they provide foc is only 25 lots. chair covers are not provided (charge at $2++) per piece. But so far, this hotel is the cheapest one along the the whole stretc of orchard road. Take note though, the price is moving upwards from May onwards and there will not be anymore free flow of beer

Hi Gloria,

I'm also very interested with Crown Prince and
have been to see Pat and i'm also thinking to sign up with them. So when is your Big day ? Mine will be March next yr. As for the chair seat, i will like to have them and may exchange it with food tasting. For the parking, CarnHill is just behind and they do have plenty of parking lots.Do you bargain for any good deals ?? Try to ask from Pat but she said this is already a very good offer :p.

On 24/12/00 , my father attended a friend's son wedding dinner at Crown Prince . A lot of complaints on the food . The first dish with lobster shell but inside no lobster meat but only cut fruits . The second dish was sharkfin but was served coldly with almost all crabmeat . Then i think the fish was overcooked .Beside peoples who attended complain that the ballroom looks old & decoration not nicely done .

Hmm...I've attended a wedding @ Crown Prince before and found the food to be very good!

I think how much "lobsters" or "sharksfins" will depend on the cost of the package??! Usually the more expensive packages have more "traces" of the goodies (i.e. sharksfins, abalones, lobsters etc.)!!

Also, trust hotels to have very inconsistent food quality...especially when there are many tables!! I haven't heard of any hotels that serve good food all the time! Even Ritz, Raffles and 4 Seasons can have quite lousy food.

I have just attended the dinner and was really shocked by the service. I do not know if it is because there are too many tables (about 43) or they are really short of staffs. Could you believe that my table does not have drinks till the second dish. Also, they do not change the plate after the fifth dishes (subsequently, they change the plate every dish after).

I have too booked with crown prince and now is really in a lost what should I do. Anyone can help? Thanks

Hi vicky,

Check with the banquet manager regarding the no. of waiters/waitresses per table. If possible, tell him/her that you would like to have at least 1 waiter/waitress per table. Inform him/her of your bad experience as well as others' feedback...& get him/her to reassure you that similar incident won't take place during your wedding. Of course this is by no means a definite guarantee but it's the least you can do. Keep reminding the banquet manager of your requirements with regards to service quality (i.e. a month b4 the dinner, a week b4 the dinner, on the actual day before the briefing etc.)

Hi KPO,

thanks. BTW, when you were there attending the dinner, how was the service? Just hope that it is one time off. Thanks :)

Hi vicky,

When I attended the dinner there (my bro's wedding)...the service was excellent 'cos the banquet manager was serving us (we weren't sitting @ the VIP tables but right @ the end of the isle...but it's 'cos he is the cousin of my gal friend's bf and she was sitting with me!)...

However, my bro and sis-in-law didn't complain about the services of the waiters/waitresses...in fact, they were quite pleased and gave them quite big angbaos...so I don't suppose there were any major hiccups.

My bro and sis-in-law did complain that they kept changing banquet managers...they had 3 managers, one after another...& it was quite problematic and disruptive as they didn't hand over the duties properly...& my bro & sis-in-law found that they had to keep repeating their requirements everytime they change a new banquet manager.

Hi...

Wow...it really worry me after reading these comments...I also make my reservation with this hotel. Is Pat the one you work with Vicky ??
Never konw that they keep changing banquet manager.. but what i realised that they have
alots of malays as waiters & waitresses.. :(

Vicky will you tell Pat abt the bad experience
that u have... may be she can do something abt
that

vicky

Hi Diaz,

Yup, Pat is my coordinator. I intend to call her up and ask her to give me some assurance. And yes, I do observe there are a lot of malay waiter and waitresses (sorry if I sound racist).

When is your wedding? Shall we pressurise Pat to give us a good reason :) If she is not able to, i might be switching to some other hotels.

Hi Vicky,

Mine will be in march but may be change to end May or early June...cos our house still not already yet. What abt yours...?? I believe u have paid the deposit right... u willing to forfeit the deposit ?? My husband will never agreed to that :(

vicky

New Member
Hi Diaz,

mine is on April :) well, we did discussed about it and we are okay with forfeiting the deposit if their service is really suck :( Will be talking to Pat. Are you going to talk to her as well?

If I'm not wrong, the rate for March and May is different. You might need to check with Pat on this.

diaz

Hi Vicky,

Yes i will talk to Pat abt this and let her know abt the comments we have gathered so far...esp abt the food. Starting from Jan this yr their rate has changed. Weekday @ $618 nett and weekend @ $698. I've booked last yr so still charging at $558 nett so may need to add $$ for that if i still want to change the date. Are your booking base on last year price ?

vicky

Hi Diaz,

I have mine booked last year so it is still last year rate. Let me know the outcome after meeting with Pat and I will update you as well :) Thanks

Cheers,
vicky

Hi...

I am currently considering booking Crown Prince Hotel for my wedding next year. The attractive pricing and big ballroom makes it a plus for me.And Pat is also quite flexible with the package. However, I have never attended a wedding there before, and was wondering whether their service and decor is good. Has anyone been to a wedding in the hotel recently and care to comment? Thanks.

Attended one about two years back. Can't remember much about the hotel and its services, but heard the package is very competitive, in comparison to the other orchard belt hotels.

Hi,

I have attended a wedding at crown prince hotel last year, I think is not bad and the ball room is quite exclusive but is abit above my budget so I took another hotel instead.

If not bcos of my budget maybe I will consider there.

Thanks Bagua and Angie for your feedback!

I just booked Crown Prince. Went to take a look yesterday at the ballroom setup. Not bad, I would suggest Tomiger to go down for a look also.

Hi all...

I'll be holding my banquet at Crown Prince at the end of this year.It fits my budget (I'm only willing to pay max $700 nett)and the location is good (great access to mrt and buses, important for my guests). It's also one of the few hotels that is flexible enough to allow min. 25 tables on weekends (can hold up to 45 tables if required). The ballroom is exclusive but we find the ceiling a bit low for our liking. However, I like the colour theme very much as it makes the place rather cosy. Although I prefer the ballroom at Otani, we find the location rather off.

My sis attended a wedding at Crown Prince 2 months back. She is pleased with most of the arrangements except the smoked duck. I'll look out for this dish when I'm due for food tasting.
Personally, I don't think any hotel can guarantee
good food quality, especially with so many tables!

Hi Tiny 123

My wedding is next year september.

the package that I signed was slightly above $700, and it includes the standard things like free seat covers and complimentary suite. But 1 thing you need to note is that the hotel is only giving 25 pieces of car park coupons, because their car park spaces are limited. oh yah, they also gave 1 complimentary barrel of beer and 10 bottles of wine.

According to Pat, this price belongs to this year package. Next year pricing will be advised in a few weeks time. Better act fast, because price is going to increase again!

Tomiger: u're most welcome. btw, where is this copthorne harbour view hotel? is it in Havelock?

Hi Tiny 123

its weekend, a saturday. In fact, its during the mooncake festival.

Hi gals,
Will you be able to ask for more car park coupons since 25 pieces will definitely not be enough. How about seat covers ? The package for 2002 does not include seat covers except the VIP tables.
Are the sales coordinators flexible ?

Hi Kelly,
I have just meet up with Pat, the coordinator. She told me that they will b including seat covers for all. I need to have my wedding early next Jan. So desperate now looking for wedding banquet... Personally, I find that the only hicuups for Crown prince is the hotel itself is not Grand. As for the package and food is Good.

Hi,

I've juz attended my colleague's wed'g in Crown Prince last mth. I must said tat the food is great, serving is big n the dishes r cooked in a special way. I particularly like a chicken dish tat was cooked with sesame n sweet n sour sauce. Yummy.....
lame.gif

The ambience and service is also good.
happy.gif
They gave wed'g bell as the wed'g favors.(like those the ice-cream man holds but with ribbon cover'g the stick, hope u all r able to figure out wat I mean)However, the sound system is not so gd. For playing the music is ok but when it coming to speak'g, its not so clear unless u come very close to the mike.

Hope the above information helps.

Hi bluz

have not try not food recently. The last time i had a wedding dinner there is 3 yrs ago, do not leave bad impression then.

Anyway I'm having mine wedding dinner there. Think the service should be fine so far from the comments I've heard. One thing I like is they only have one ballroom, meaning your guests won't end up in other people wedding dinner.

When will you be having your dinner?

HI bluz

I'll be having mine in Oct this year.

Is Lilia the one that you are liaising so far?
Hmm.. didn't really like Hyatt as find it too many ballroom and will cause confusion when comes to "popular day"
crazy.gif

I find the ceiling height bit low but my FH said like that then more cosy which I reckon too.

Actually during that time we did see Orchard Hotel & Hilton, think is becos of the privacy, the long march-in path way and coziness makes us booked with them. And of cos not leaving out the price too!
biggrin.gif

bluz

yap! Lilia is the one i liase..i believe she's the only one there. went down today to discuss details with her.

how do u find her service so far...i find that she answer my questions only when we ask ..unlike other banquet coordinator i seen at other hotels, they r quite enthusiastic.

agree with u on the long march-in..

hi bluz

yea lila is the one there so far. Actually is another lady who attend to us initially but she was so called promoted to take charge on the ballroom ground during the actual dinner event. Indeed I found Lilia is not that enthusiastic but heard she is just time being taking this duty till they find a new replacement.

Anyway I've learned to accept that no matter how good is a service or how well you have prepared during the process, there's bound to have hiccups here and there during the actual day. So think as long as CP attend to whatever we request, I'll be contented
happy.gif

Also has heard from my friend that her colleague said Lilia is more responsive towards her request rather than the earlier lady, but for me is the other way round. I bet all these depends on individual and also luck right?
