Hi All Brides & BTB,

Need some advise on MUA to follow for outdoor photoshoot.

Do you think the money is well spent?

Thanks.

Super useful unless you have a helper! If not she will be of great help for changing gowns, changing hairstyle and touching up. And even holding your belongings.

It all depends on whether you have any extra hands to help you and what kind of materials your MUA is using. Initially, I was also thinking of getting the MUA to stay back to help with touch-ups, gown-changing, etc. Here I was, offering my MUA extra money to stay back for simple tasks, but she was honest enough to tell me that her services won't be needed and I shouldn't waste my money on her. I sweat a lot too (even when the sun isn't directly shining) and was concerned that my make-up will run but my MUA assured me that she has put on some strong base that helps keep the make-up stay in its place instead of running even if I sweat. You may want to check with your MUA if she uses something similar. All she asks is for me to bring normal compact powder and a lipstick/lip gloss (check with MUA what colour or tone needed) for normal touch-ups (if really needed) which can be done either by myself in front of the mirror or by a helper - I only ended up doing very very minimal touch-up once during the changing of gowns. As for changing of gowns, my MUA helped me with the first gown after she finished my make-up and hairstyling and I'm very fortunate that my mother-in-law was free later on to come help me with my other gown (my bridesmaids were all tied up at work hehe). A good bridal dress shop should also remind you to bring your bridesmaids in for at least one session to learn how to help you gown up properly in all your different gowns and practise in front of the shop assistant to check if the techniques are right or wrong. Hence, on the actual wedding day, again my MUA was only there at the start of everything (and once again told me not to waste money to make her stay for the gown-changing and touch-ups) and my bridesmaids took care of the rest (very minimal touch-ups and well-executed gown-changing that was already learnt and practised in the bridal dress shop)... As for holding of belongings during the photoshoot, my hubby has everything packed into a backpack that he just lugs around from spot to spot and when it's time to shoot photos, he just places the backpack together with all the PG's stuff (don't forget, they too have stuff to carry!) so it's all pretty simple and safe...
