Hi all

The coordinator of MC sent me a brochure saying that there will be $60 nett discount per table if you sign on the spot duing their wedding show...

Anyone had their wedding at MC recently? What the themes that they have? How much deposit is required upon confirmation? Is there any deduction of price if we use our own invitation cards and favours?

Any hidden costs anywhere?

Thks!

Cherie, Pris is still there, am meeting her soon to discuss the package.

Btw, in case you guys don't already know, the bridal show perks for 7 Mar only applies for weddings held in the first half of 2010 (until 30 June 2010). Can see in the fine print at the bottom of the brochure and I also confirmed with Pris. The 2nd half of 2010 was just opened for booking so not included.

Hi all,

We just had our wedding on 09.02.2009.

Everything was perfect. We loved the garden theme. Food was good.

My banquet manager was Lewis, he was professional.

Of course, all these wouldn't have been so great if not for Pris.

Cheers!

CQ (mooncynthia), usually the wedding show will consist of the fashion show of the bridal shop. As for 7 March, heard from the coordinator that there will also be band and animation company participating which also come with buffet high tea after the show. Heard tt there is also lucky draw to be won..

i think one thing good also about merchant court is that it's just beside the clarke Quay mrt station with sheltered walkway. Convenient for most guests that will be coming after work if your AD is on a weekday. :p

ic, thanks. I just realised that SMC is only a 4-star hotel yet their prices are comparable or higher than some of the 5 star hotels like hilton and Grand Copthorne Waterfront on weekdays. :|

when i went to "negotiate" with them, i was told that they are a 4 star boutique hotel. so they are considered a level higher then normal 4 star hotels. they are really almost "non-negotiable" in their terms. only willing to exchange some items for others.

Hi
Does anyone knows if their grand ballroom is the only ballroom at that floor?

Do they have many other smaller ballrooms such that it can be a hassel to look for the correct wedding banquet on the night itself?

Hi Lee,

Feedback on service and food is fast and good.. I've a girlfriend whom after attending my wedding.. Found that is the food during my wedding is e best so far.. She even told me tat is better than hers which will be held at conrad..

Lilian,
The grand ballroom is the only ballroom in the hotel. The rest are small functions room which can only hold up to 30-40pax..So no worries abt trouble finding.. The reason why i like MC is coz is a stand alone hotel where there is no retails malls downstairs.. like those at hilton, orchard hotel.. and also the ballroom is pillarless and is big euff for me to hold 35 tables yet not v pack..Hope this helps... :D
U can also refer to the pic i posted above..

CQ,

I guess is ex coz is an international hotel.. and is the same company as swissotel stamford..

hi all, yesterday I met up with Rebecca with my HTB for the site-visiting. She was a very nice and bubbly lady, make us very comfortable. I actually queried her on whether SMC is a 4 or 5 star hotel, she replied me that many ppl have different ways of looking at it, if look at branding wise they are 5 stars because they are under swisshotel. And she said she would considered themselves 5 stars, thats y pricing wise is 5 stars pricing comparable to low end 5 stars hotel price like hilton and copthorne waterfront. But in my opinion, it looks like like a 4 star to me because the place is very small..and facilities limited.

on the 1st floor: a small bar (crossroad bar), the buffet cafe (Ellenborough Market Cafe), 1 main ballroom, 3 function rooms, 2 shops.

2nd floor: spa, pool and a cafe (blue potato) thats by the poolside, small scale fitness centre. The poolside overlook Singapore river..sounds nice the view but when i look at the view during the daytime, can see the riverwater not very clean and some rubbish floating on the riverbank. lol :p

Thats abt it.

And because there are no chinese restaurant in SMC itself, so they actually engage chefs to come in to cook lor for the Chinese wedding dinner.

thanks Meichin.
weekend is really ex!! For that price I would rather choose a 5-star hotel in orchard, like Marriott. I think I have to make some more comparison..
