Hi eil3en,

Yes. ROM date is much more important than AD date as that is the date both of you legally husband and wife. AD is just a chinese customary wedding for banquet and tea ceremony.

Hi eil3en,

10 Oct 2010 is by default not a very good date for wedding. Better dates can be chosen.

I know in the tong shu it generally states as Good For Wedding for most layman. But there are other elements and factors in the tong shu that if you are to 'fine tune' further, you will realise it is not really a very good date for wedding.

Hope this helps

Hi Master Tong,

Sorry to trouble you again.

We have done our ROM on this yr 16/05 already .

If this case, does it mean that in fact we could just choose any general good date in 2010 for the customary?
Initially we are looking at 16/10/2010. Is this date okie?
Is there a need to check auspicious timing for the tea ceremony etc?

Hi Master Tong,

I'm rather disheartened to hear that next year is a bad year to get married for both myself and my fiance. However I think for many other reasons we would still have to carry on with the plans..

Can you advice if there are any dates in weekends of May and June that are most ideal for us?

We are tentatively looking at 1 May for ROM and 2 May for dinner.

Many thanks.

Hi Loewe79,

This date does not clash to any one of you. But that is not a very ideal date for wedding and is not a general tong shu date for wedding as well. Better dates can be chosen if you haven't book.

Yes timing for fetch the bride/tea ceremony is required once u book the date.

Hope this helps

Hi kinokino,

1st May 2010 is not a good tong shu date for wedding. 2nd May will clash with Horse, which is Groom's dad. Cannot be used.

Other dates you can use are (general tong shu dates only):

- 23/05, 29/05, 05/06

Note that these are general good dates only. The Bazi is not taken into account yet as a good date in the tong shu can still be deemed inauspicious for both of you if the date is not compatible with both your Bazi.

Hope this helps

Hi eil3en,

There are no general tong shu good weekend dates in Oct for wedding. The good ones clash to one of you. The nearest weekend date that don't clash and is a general good date will be 13th Nov 2010.

Hope this helps.

Hi Master Tong,

What's your comments on master bathroom door facing the head when sleeping?

Also, any negative effect if there's something hanging overhead when you sleep eg. aircon or painting?

Thank you.

Hi tulips,

Generally the bathroom door should not face the bed (head or feet is the same). But this is easy to resolve. Close the door when you sleep and place a screen between the door and the bed. This will solve the problem.

For bedroom, the most important is still the bed positioning and direction according to the Qi of the room.

For things hanging overhead, depending on what it is. If it is a beam, then yes you should avoid it. You can either ask the contractor to conceal the beam or pull out the bed out of the beam's way. If painting, it doesn't matter

Hi Master Tong,

I have some questions to ask:

1) Is it true that we can't hold any customary wedding in the year of Tiger?

2) Normally what are the informations require for choosing customary wedding date?

3) What does the Bazhi refering to? Is it the lunar date of birth and also time of birth??

4) Is 29 Sept 2009 a good / auspicious date for ROM?

Many thanks in advance. =)

Hi purinne,

Unfortunately there is no way of doing this. However this is more of a chinese superstition than Chinese Metaphysics. So to attend or not to attend, it is really up to your comfort level. If you ask me, i will still ask you to follow this tradition since your wedding is just one month away.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sheena Chan,

The Tong shu for 2011 will only be out next yr 7th lunar month. The only way (and the authentic and right way)to select dates now will be using both your Bazi to calculate.

Now is the best time to select 2011 dates and i have already done so for many many couples. Some hotels already open the bookings for 2011 dates, while i believe the rest will follow next quarter when the 2010 dates are more or less sold out. If you choose now, you are almost guaranteed of booking your No.1 choice hotel for your wedding banquet. If you wait till the tong shu is out next yr this time, more or less those popular hotels, especially the weekend dates, will be sold out.

Hope this helps

Hi Losh2090,

To answer your qns:

1) Is it true that we can't hold any customary wedding in the year of Tiger?

Definitely not true. I've posted an explanation of this sometime back in this forum, so you might want to do a search on it. In brief, this is pure superstition. Only those born in Monkey year are not suitable. As for the rest, all you need is to find a good date. Reason why elderly says that Tiger yr is no good coz they associate the characteristics of tiger to the year. There is no logic or basis to this. Every year can be good or bad depending on your Bazi. Even dragon yr can be bad! If dragon yr is really 100% good, then there should not be any divorce for those that got married in dragon year right? We all know this is not the case...
happy.gif

2) Normally what are the informations require for choosing customary wedding date?

You will need the couple's birthday and time of birth (according to birth cert), parents animals signs and when you want your wedding to be held.

3) What does the Bazhi refering to? Is it the lunar date of birth and also time of birth??

It refers to your birthday and time of birth (according to your birth cert). Bazi is not derived from your lunar birthday. This is s HUGE misconception! All Feng Shui, Bazi and Date Selection uses the Solar Calendar (Wan Nian Li), not the Lunar Calendar! Using the lunar calendar to plot a Bazi chart is wrong. So all we need is just your normal georgian birthday and time of birth, and I will do the conversion.

4) Is 29 Sept 2009 a good / auspicious date for ROM?

For general tong shu date, i will need the animal signs of both of you and your parents's before i can check for you.

Hope this helps

Hi purinne,

It is a chinese superstition that if you attend, then there is a clash of luck, which means bad luck. Since wedding is such an important event, it is beter to avoid than taking any risk.

Hope this helps

Hi Christine Choy,

Here are some 'general' Sat dates you can use:

- 15/05, 29/05

April is Qing Ming, so generally this month is not used for wedding.

Hope this helps

Hi bomohpang,

Of course it is all right, so long as both of you and your parents are comfortable with it. Why in the old days we need to go back to the groom's parent's home is that this shows the bride is accepted into the groom's family by "stepping into" the groom's home (Guo Men). In modern days, some family may choose to do so using hotel as your home for tea ceremony etc for convenience. So long as your are ok with it, there is nothing wrong

Hi Master Tong,

Needed advices from you on how to choose dates.

If we have 2 dates in mind where one is in the 8th Lunar mth (which is consider to be the best mth to get mary for chinese) and one in 9th Lunar mth but the western calender was 10/10/10 (which sounds like a prefect day - Shi Quan Shi Mei)

Is the western calender date impt or a considering factor too when considering our wedding date? Assuming both dates are suitable for us to get married.
