Hi yan, so long as not more than 50 should be fine. When I signed up, Wendy showed us the floor plan for 40 tables and for 55 tables. The 55 tables layout is packed and 40 tables layout is very spacious.

nec (necrosis),

Sure, I only had less than 5 months to plan and prepare for my entire wedding so I think it is not too difficult for you gals to have a go at it.
happy.gif

There are many free online guestbooks that are easy to set up. Just google "free wedding guestbook" and select the one you like best. Try and send out the link for signing invitation to guests a few months before your wedding day. If you think it's still too troublesome, just use multiply or facebook which is a similar concept! Good luck!

Hi all,

I just held my wedding in MM, Vanda ballroom this week. Service was quite good and Sen is a good coordinator. She is very fast with her responses.

By the way, if you are interested to add on more wines to your wedding, do let me know as I have one carton of red wine - Wolf Blass Eaglehawk 2007 after my wedding banquet and currently up for sales . FYI, This is the same wine as what MM will offer for one free per table.

Interested parties please contact me at [email protected]

Thanks.

Hi nec & Kodomo,

(Kodomo, regarding my PG, I tried to send you a PM but was unable to.)

Anyway, the PG & VG quality greatly depends on your budget as well. Mine was $3K all in. If you're willing to spend more, you can try The Wedding P@p@r@zzi ($1620), Wedd-ng TV ($1200), Subst@nce Film ($2500), Adri@n Lee (from $2400), F@bi@n Lim (from $1800), Moomedi@ (from $2400) & Ninetr0gen (from $1000), for VG. They're all reputable. Hope that helps.

Ermm.. does anyone know if the individual menus setup are also available for the Vanda Ballroom?

I love yam paste also. But I thought mango sago is a pretty refreshing desert after the main courses. Have not decide on them yet.

Oh thanks Colt, so glad to hear tt the invitation cards will be in use fr June 08 onwards, my AD in Sept, haha...

For dessert I've chosen Mango Sago because tasted it at the Wedding Show and I LUV it, also it's something that the other hotels don't offer, guess the guests will be excited over the idea of having a diff dessert from the usual ones e.g. yam paste, tangyuan, almond jelly etc. However I do agree that the ice-cream and mango looks a bit messy when ppl start scraping from the serving bowl

Hi all,

Did anyone have their solemnisation on the same day as your AD, just before the wedding banquet? Was it at one of the function rooms? What did you think of it? Any pics to share of the set-up?

Hi Kazooie, thanks for sharing this live studio.. my fren was just telling me the other day that she attended a wedding which flashes those photo on the projector that was taken when the guests arrived like immediately.

Hey porsche,
Yeah, I think it's an excellent all-in-one! Those who are looking for instant photo and a guestbook with a difference plus they can show it as a montage during the banquet and can immediately make it into an album (not sure about the cost for that though). You can always use the MM guestbook as a back-up in case the tablet breaks down!

Hi missD,
I had my solemnization and tea ceremony done in one of the function rooms on level 6 before my wedding lunch banquet in the Vanda Ballroom. It was quite crowded for me as we had invited all our relatives and about 90% showed (the room could only sit 40 pax). The rest had to stand. All the rooms have different holding capacities so you will have to check with the Hotel. I had more than double of what the room could hold hence the room was quite warm. There were no sound system available in my room (i.e. no music and no mic). Although, everyone could hear just fine without the mic.

What I liked about the Function Rooms in general were that it had natural light with its full bay windows and balconies. I also liked the different Marina Bay views of each function rooms. The open corridor area outside the room was also very relaxing as it overlooks the Hotel's huge atrium.

Function Room Set up: One large rectangle table with a fresh flower centerpiece, set up with 5 chairs in the front of the room for the Solemization, followed by chairs in rows with an aisle down the middle. All the chairs came with seat covers and the 5 chairs at the table and 1st and 2nd aisle chairs on both sides also had organza sash wrapped around it.

Hey Wendy & yan,

You're welcome.

I only just came across it as I was surfing last night. Too bad I didn't know about it earlier. There's other methods like SMS wedding montage but I think this is way cooler and it seems like there are so many colours and textures they can use to sign!

Hi ^MeiLinG5^ (~sblbee~),

I think every MM bride have been given special perks in one way or another but there is always a limit. This was just one important requirement that we had before we signed the agreement with MM as it was a wedding lunch and our schedule was back to back. So, remember to ask only what you really need.

Hi all,

I've actually enquired about Live Studio service before. In case you think that the Digital Guestbook service can be ordered on its own at $300/2hr, it is actually not the case. I'm pasting their email reply to my enquiry last November.
----------
Live Studio reply:
Our package includes photography, live projection and photocard prints.

As an add on, we offer digital guestbook at $300.

This is our package.

Silver Package - $1,188
Includes:
- 1 Senior Photographer
- 2 Instant Printer Stations + 1 Graphic Assistant
- Live Photo Projection
- Unlimited Photocards
- All softcopies immediately after event on a complimentary 1Gb thumbdrive
- Duration of booking: 4 hours evening shoot

Should you have more than 25 tables, the package below is better for you.

Gold Package - $1888

Includes:

-1 senior photographer

-1 associate photographer

-2 instant printer stations

-Live projection

-Unlimited photocards

-All soft copies on CD ROM

-Duration of booking: 4 hours evening shoot
-------------------------

So you actually need to put aside around 1.5K if you want the digital guestbook with live projection and photos of guests beside their well wishes.

wah....
i was actually thinking of the live photos too...

mmm...but the cost is pretty high leh, esp since i've signed on a PG already. :p

anyway, i was thinking of just buying a Canon Selphy printer ($399 or $499 depending on which model) and DIY the 'Live' printing...
at least for the reception portion...otherwise...maybe can talk to my PG, see if can add on another guy (or his wife) to deal with the printing on the spot, so that can give away some pics during the dinner too...

FYI, there's a guy renting the canon selphy printer too...posted somewhr in the forum

hi kazooie,

Thanks for sharing on your soleminzation. I didn't manage to get it to see the function room when I went down to MM, so was afraid it may look plain since they told me there would be no decorations. But you seem to have a good impression so that's good to know!

will check with them more on the holding capacity.

Hi missD,
That's alright.

My hubby and I had a good impression of MM the minute we stepped into their hotel. Our shortlist included Goodwood (Tudor & Windsor), Hilton (Ballroom & Panorama), and Marriott (Ballroom). All had pros and cons. If you haven't yet decided on your venue, you can always enquire with other Hotels on what they can provide you for your ROM. In the end, the main reason we chose the MM was for its convenient location, ambience, liked Sen for her assertiveness and professionalism, and the whole venue served our needs well. I think you need not worry about the function rooms as the whole MM is well maintained and even though it's 21 years old.

Their wedding package was quite competitive to their peers in 2008. I don't think I was the most demanding bride :p but I had a lot of my own requirements and was given what I asked for. Apart from their lack of themes, I hear from this forum they are adding more favours and improving their invitation card designs, I think everything else makes up for it, i.e., good food, experienced service staff, good location & ambience.

Hi kazooie, mine's lunch too and initially intended to do the solemnisation before the lunch as well. But after working out the schedule recently, I find that it is really hard to squeeze time to do the solemnisation back to back with the lunch as we have to do the tea ceremony before the lunch as well... You are really lucky to have what you asked for. We also have what we asked for but it comes with a higher price tag.

Hi missD, even though it is plain, I was told that we can get our friends to bring some simple decorations or balloons to decorate the place a bit before the solemnisation.

Hi Mary Poppins,

Indeed, thank goodness my Jiemeis were really on the ball that day. They were asked to follow my schedule closely to avoid any delay.

Our AD sequence was slightly different to the norm. Gatecrashing 7.30am (My home), Outdoor Photoshoot 8.30am (Esplanade), ROM 10.30am (MM), Hotel Briefing 11.00am (MM), Tea Ceremony 11.15am (both B&G @ MM), Lunch Banquet 12.30pm (MM), His home 5.00pm, Our Place 6:30pm, Special post wedding VIP dinner party 7.30pm, deadbeat tired but happily end @ 10.30pm.
happy.gif

Our parents were impressed with the whole days' event as it went without a hitch and they as well as our guests raved and commended on having a lunch. I think the Vanda Ballroom is quite suitable for both day and night events as it's centered in the interesting design of the Atrium. During the day you get the chirping birds and it all feels a bit outdoorsy and serene but at the same time, you are still sheltered from the rain and heat. Come night time, there's more activity in the lobby area and when the pianist gets going, it's another chill out feel. Excuse my ramblings.

Hi kazooie, thanks for sharing the timeline with us. Do you have time to squeeze in for the 2nd make up? My parents will jump if I do not go back home before heading to the hotel. Thus, time is really not enough. I am intending to go and take photo after the lunch around city hall area instead of in the morning, since I do not want to skip the 2nd make up.

Hi kazooie

Thanks for sharing the timeline too. Well I've enquired the dates we want with few hotels and they are taken up so most likely we might need to do a lunch instead of dinner.

Mary poppins

Please share your schedule for the AD once u sort of finalized them. I think my mum is also quite particular that I go back after going to my HTB's side. But where will u be doing your tea ceremony? I had thought of doing it at the hotel but then what do we do then if we're going to both parents' side and not doing tea ceremony? Eat? Take photo?
