Marina Bay Sands or Shangrila? Tough choice!

Hi there

I was just wondering whether anyone has booked Sands for their wedding banquet? I'm getting married on 23 Jan 2011. I am deciding between Shangrila and Sands and it is proving to be a very tough choice! Advice much appreciated.

my advise, see the ballroom 1st. and sands is very new... not sure everything will be in professional way. their package for weekend is min 40 tables of 10 pax/table. The price per table is same as raffles hotel. Basically l feel that their package looks like raffles hotel one..lol

We're also stuck between Sands and Shang. And decision has to be made this week, before Sands adjust their price upwards.

Shangrila definitely

The Island ballroom at least but if not, then you can consider Sands.

Sands ballroom is quite a walking distance away from the hotel rooms fyi...

yea.. Sands ballroom is at the convention centre i believe.. which is diagonally across the road..

Not sure about the wedding banquet package but we're actually having a ticketed event held at MBS soon. And there's alot of dissent going on because of their charges. Apparently, they are charging for the ballrooms, electricity and some other stuff separately from the menu itself. Which are usually included for other hotels. Free flow soft drinks are also usually included in other hotels but it's charged separately apparently. I don't know if it's only done to like unsuspecting individuals or what because based on my research that is not the industry standard.

But well, if you have deep pockets and is keen on trying something new and your motto is "spare no costs" i suppose you could try and share your experience.
