Hi BTB!
I've booked M hotel Banquet hall too! When I read through all your posts, I realised that you all got better perks than me!
Didn't get much, only 11 btls of wine, 1 barrel of beer. =(
Maria is my co-ordinator too, she's ok, but quite rigid on the perks. We tried asking but she refused to give any more. Oh well.....

Hi Rex
u interested in M hotel?
i just upgraded to banquet suite.

i heard the next show in May 11 but is not at M Hotel. actually i prefer any bridal show at the hotel so that u can actually see the actual set up

between, the price are out for 2012 as well..when ur AD?

Hi Godbirdie & Rex, sorry for the late reply, I didn't book at the show, was walk-in customer.

I wanted to wait for the the bridal show, but my parents insisted that I give them a date before CNY!

My AD is in 2012 and so paid the new prices.

If i remember correctly, Maria said you could try requesting for the old themes if you don't like the new ones.

hi theliamuse, my AD is End 2012. The price for 2012 is the standard one, unless u choose auspicious dates which includes surcharge of $150 per table.

Bridal show normally can ask for more perks.
Mine is better as 1 bottle per confirmed table and 2 barrels, complimentary food tasting and 1 table off.

Do you compl food tasting and 1 table off?

theliamuse

New Member
Nope, only had the complimentary food tasting + 11 btl wine and 1 barrel of beer. We only managed to nego cheaper wine corkage charges.

When I booked my date, Maria didn't mention that there was surcharge for auspicious dates! Not too sure if my date is supposed to be auspicious or not....

godbirdie

if she did not say, then is ok, unless she send u the contract and suddenly quote the surcharge.
when is ur AD?

Actually can fight for free corkage which i have.

as long ur dates for 2012 do not falls on 12-12-12 or 20-12-12.

these are the date they gave me:

*Additional surcharge for booking on auspicious dates in calendar, which will be de ter mined by Hotel

*Promotions valid for weddings held before 31 December 2012 except the following dates

(21, 27 May 2011; 12, 26 June 2011; 2, 11 September 2011; 2 October 2011; 11, 20 November 2011;

4, 25 December 2011; 12, 20 December 2012)

*Price quoted is subject to 10% service charge & prevailing government taxes, unless otherwise stated

Hi godbird,

Seemed like perhaps its more of like you pay the surcharge thats why they gave you a free corkage ....im intending to go for a wedding show...my AD...planning with my future wife to be in Dec 2012....but still bouncing here and there because of so many relatives involved...big family...sigh...

Hi theliamuse,

Well.. from your experience..i have to grab my date during the wedding show...well..at least you still have some wine bottles so its not too bad...

godbirdie

Hi Rex, is not cos of surcharge, is cos i signed during the bridal show that you can enjoy and bargain more.
i aleady changed to another non-auspicious date so no need to pay surcharge.
Well..mine also Dec 2012, which i booked Banquet Suite...
happy.gif

same with you but you need to decide fast.Just take note my earlier post of those "surcharge" dates.

Hi godbird,
my AD date is 07.01.2012, so I guess it's not an auspicious date.
We tried fighting for free corkage but I guess we gave in too fast! Anyway, we were quite sick of searching for hotels. Maria was the only one that actually was responded to us. The rest of the co-ordinators at the other hotels we shortlisted were always not contactable. Also we quite liked that there was a bridal changing room next to the banquet hall.
I have already signed the contract and made the deposit. How about you?

Hi,
Mine is abit complicated.
I initially signed for Anson but later swopped to Banquet Suite last week. I hesitate due to Anson (low ceiling) and banquet (U shape march and cost). My coordinator also changed (last min) due to their portfolio change. Mine is tentative 25 tables ( free 1 complimentary table) Now waiting for them to send me the contract via soft copy.
Actually free corkage i thought is standard everywhere unless you gtg bring in ur own wine. I am more concerned with free wine per table and more barrels (i got 2 barrels) cos those are the stuff ur guest will drink more which will add on ur cost.i also asked for extra nite at bridal suite at cheaper rate(i like the jacuzzi)

I like banquet suite for the same reason as you, the bridal changing room even have a toilet inside and quite spacious!

I also tired searching ard. But i bargain alot but think during bridal show is easier cos my coordinator will ask a senior manager (i think) each time i bargain to give in perks.

I understand from my current coordinator (evangeline) that email contract is official provided you acknowledge. If there is still discrepancies, they still will make changes.

Perhaps you can try to bargain for 1 bottle wine per confirmed table. keep trying as long you have time. You must emphasize you really wish to have.. How many tables for you? hope u have settled ur BS which i have.

Maybe we can share our contract once i received it.

theliamuse

New Member
Yup, have settled my BS, still have yet to book my photographers (Pre and AD).
We are prob going to bring our own wine, my hubby wants to ensure that the wine tastes good! We haven't tried the brand of the wine given free in the package, I tried looking for it online and in Jason & NTUC, but can't really find it. Maria told us that it's value is supposed to be 40++ per btl!
We haven't confirmed about number of tables, just booked the hall at the min 22 tables.
Maria didn't give us a soft copy contract, only hard copy which we signed and sent back!

godbirdie

New Member
i thought min is 25 tables for wededing dinner?that what i was told at bridal show..
if not, i could have take min 22 tables,, the minimum.
hmm..strange they have different standard among coordinator.
But u supposed to have a copy, can request them to send you (by PDF) to verify.

i believe hotel wine shd have standard, i hope to reduce other cost to buy wine..dun think they let us try the wine, maybe u can ask during food tasting. mine still long time away.

theliamuse

I went to look through my old emails with Maria, managed to find my package, will PM to you if you like.
And yup, the min is 25 tables. That means my memory is faulty!! Sorry!

godbirdie

New Member
no need sorry, u can PM me if u like, not sure if can send attachment. i waiting for them to send me.Do check properly the perks they give u, including the standard like 20% carpark cuopons..etc

Do try to pester for free btl wine per table.

come to think of it, our is wkend $968++ (S$1138 nett) per table, almost $28-29k for 25 tables..

Hi godbirdie..

Seemed like you are a very experienced bargainer...for me and my wife..well...we juz had a discussion..so long as all beverages are covered and dates are available....i would expect them to mail me the contract so that i get a hard copy and its more convenient for me to read rather than sending me a soft copy which i have to ownself print....

Hi theliamuse

Once deal is signed, you can't do much about it...i told my wife once i signed the deal...i would not compare too much and think back..cause its just a big strain...i guess you didn't have much of a choice because of your parents..

Heard that you are still looking for photography..you have plans to do overseas? That's what my wife and i plan to do....in Singapore i feel that its very boring..

Hi Rex,
will be having my photography done in S'pore to save $$$! Which country will you be doing your pre-wed photography?

HelenAlex: I already had my ROM at the MND building last Jan. So not too sure where is good for ROM. Maybe you could check with the smaller hotels, e.g. wangz, park hotel clarke quay or Studio M hotel?

Hi theliamuse (theliamuse),

You are lucky, i guess 07.01.2012 is a peak period as most of the hotel is full on the day.

i wanted the date but was told full so end up o took 24.12.2011.

Hi, I'm new to M Hotel. Would like to know hows the ballroom like ? Would like to know the layout of The difference between The banquite suite and anson room.

Sharlyn Ong: Thanks, I booked this date just B4 CNY. Wanted this date cos it was before 2012 CNY and secondly it was close to my ROM anniversary date. Can combine the celebration for my AD and ROM together. Save $$$!! Heee...

There is a big time gap between the date you wanted and date you booked! Is it cos all the dates in between were booked or due to other reasons?

Sckyl: Anson room actually consists of several function rooms joined together in a long rectangular shape, while the banquet room is one big room.

So the march in for Anson is much longer while the Banquet room is v short cos the doors are at the side of the room (some people don't like this).

Banquet room minimium number of tables is 25 while for Anson is less ~~~ don't remember how much though.

Sckyl, the anson room has quite a low ceiling level (think normal function room kind of ceiling height).. The banquet suite has a high ceiling level.. Although the march in is kinda weird, a U shape, I find that the banquet suite is more grand than anson room.. ;) And the menu is also different.. The banquet suite offers a better food menu than anson room.. Both the banquet suite and anson room has their own pre function area.. But anson room which is on the 2nd storey has a restaurant at the opposite end of it, while banquet suite which is on the 10th storey has the entire level for purely banquet suite only.. There are no guest rooms or other facilities on the 10th storey.. Hope this helps~ ;)

my AD is in Sept and i'm going for food tasting in July.. i emailed my coordinator to ask for the dates available for food tasting in July and she gave me a few dates.. but the dates are taken up quite fast.. like 3 days after she sent me the dates available, she will tell me it's taken up already.. and she gave me another set of dates.. =)

Our wedding is in October and Maria called my hubby 'bout 1 week back to ask if we are available on a certain date in July for food-tasting. Was surprised it's already time for food-tasting already! I guess we need to tell them in advance what we will like to have for food-tasting? Not sure how's the procedure like.

Rex: Actually usually during the lunar 7th month, not much will be done during the lunar 7th month but not very sure is food tasting one of them. You probably can ask your parents and your future in-laws if they mind? Usually if they are okie then it should be fine to go ahead with it.

Hi Kat..thanks for your advice...i'm getting married next year..but its my brother who's asking...he is also getting married in October and didn't want to do in August..cause he said its totally inauspicious..so same as you he is doing in July...

Usually food tastings are done like 2 - 3 months before...thats what my brother says..

Hi all, had a bad impression of M hotel. Recently i emailed the enquiry email for the bridal package, to check the available dates and to make an appointment. They told 3 days to email me the package and ignored my request for the appointment.
I called the lady, Evangeline, and she told me that they don't work weekends and for weekdays, their appointments after 6pm are filled up. So if i wish to talk to a wedding consultant, i have to go down on weekdays before 6pm.
I think i will just eliminate them from my list. I haven't sign up with them and they're so busy. Imagine if i sign up with them, i have to specially take leave just to discuss things.

piggeekgirl

Serene: Usually for hotel co-ordinators, they tend to be busy during the weekends 'cos of the weekend weddings hence it's tough for them to meet up. As for weekdays, you probably have to book way in advanced with them 'cos that happens not just to M Hotel but to the other hotels we have visited last time. Their slots were really full. The last I remembered, for all the hotels we visited, we always go after work to meet them. Well, unless you're saying their weekday slots until the end of the year are all full, am sure you can find a certain date they can arrange right? Just letting you know.

Serene~ i agree with Kat.. although I've signed my wedding dinner with M hotel.. my hotel coordinator also asked me to meet her on a weekday afternoon as they don't work on wkends.. maybe you can ask them whether they have any upcoming wedding roadshow or whether they will be at the BOWS event at the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year? =)

I just had my wedding at M Hotel!
The service from MHotel was really great. Basically, the banquet coordinator will be there for you throughout the event, guiding us through the procedures. They were really prompt with last minute changes too. Really thumbs up for their service.
Evangeline is great too, v polite and v prompt with our requests and emails.

Surprisingly the food was better than our food tasting. We were pretty worried during the food tasting as our parents were very picky but everything turned out well!

The only negative feedbacks:
- wedding favours were changed recently and we were very disappointed with the variety.
- some of the banquet staffs hired were clumsy and slow. One even spilled on my guest but MHotel did a free dry cleaning for our guest which we were very glad. (remember to ask your bros/sis to look out for staffs like that and report to the manager!)

Angie~ where did you hold your wedding at M hotel? Anson Room or Banquet Suite? If you don't mind, can share with us your photos? Hehe.. I want to see the themes.. =)
