Hi guys,

my husband and I are thinking of going to Los Angeles, LV, San Diego and San Francisco on May 30th - June 10th (dates flexible). We are thinking of renting a car so we can drive ourselves and skip the boring tour packages. Looking for like-minded and fun-loving people to join us. * worried cos USA like a little dangerous??**

Anyway, our priority is Grand Canyon, LV Casinos, San Diego Zoo and SF's Fisherman's Wharf. Last but not least, as many factory outlets as possible!! hehe.. Must make use of our strong sg dollar!

So, interested parties, please post!

hi,

I am currently in USA and I must say that maybe you all can give San Diego a miss... nothing much over there..

Car renting is not very ex. A normal sedan will cost like USD300+ for 10 days. However, space is limited so luggages must not be too big.

Enjoy the holidays... =)

Hi raindrop,

the air ticket is about $2000 including taxes per person on SQ. Land tour is up to individual.. so how? Interested?

Hi Butter,

which part of USA are you in? I may have to consult you on tips then!! I'm so happy to have you here to answer my questions.. San Diego is boring eh? I thought of going there to see the award winning zoo and seaworld?
I'm not so worried about the cost of the car rental, but more afraid of the danger of driving ourselves. Also, which land tour company do you recommend in usa? I was thinking of going with tours4fun. Have you heard of that company?

How many days would u recommend staying in LA, LV, SFO individually? I was thinking of 3 days in LA, 3 days in LV, 2 days in SFO. What do u think?

would u want to travel with us if you haven't seen usa yet?

I have travelled around USA many times self drive...esp california. Usually the route I take is from LA - San Diego - Arizona - Utah - LV. This trip takes about 2 weeks. Dun rush to too many places... spend more time at each place.
LA spend about 3 Nts. 1 day to universal, another to Disneyland, another to roam around. visit the flea market or shopping outlet abt 1hr from LA.
I love san diego. We went to seaworld.. initially I was skeptical about the place but I really love it. The shows are great! Spend another day to roam around... so about 2 nts there.
Then off to arizona, on the way stop by sand dunes and go to the grand canyon. stay in the canyon. 1-2 nt depending on you, enroute we actually stayed in phoenix.
Next to LV, we stayed 3 nts, cos there are 2 outlets there. also the hotel is cheap. We went to utah for ski so that took another 3 nts but since u going in may, u may skip that.... from LV if you want drive to San francisco before flying back... total should take you about 15 nts in all. My advice dun rush.. and enjoy yourelf.

hi lynn,

are you able to advice which are the hotels you usually stay over for San Francisco, LV and LA?

oh ya, how about the cab charges over there? is it much cheaper to rent a car over there than taking a cab? if driving then is the road signs clear?

thanks.

dun ever think of cabs. It's freaking expensive. rent a car. try dollar.com or alamo.com good deal if u book early. Do not book with 3rd party site. And always rent and add insurance.
I usually stay in fairfield inn by marriott or comfort inn. Cheap good and clean and I'm a member.
For LV, I recommend flamingo. Location is right and book online with deals going for abt USD45-50 per night.
