Lasik Surgery Clinic - has anyone been here?

Hello, has anyone tried doing Lasik at the Lasik Sugery Clinic (LSC) in Paragon, on Orchard Road? I am considering Lasik surgery and noticed that many posters have gone to SNEC, however the working days at LSC correspond more to my schedule right now...they're prices also seem to be less, which worries me - I hope it does not mean a compromise on the doctors' skill. Can you share your experience and doctor's name (and profile) please? Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thank you!!

I did my LASIK at SNEC. I chose SNEC because it performs the most LASIK operations in S’pore. I would recommend Dr Leonard Ang who is very well-trained, patient and accommodating. He also did LASIK for all my friends and they got perfect eyesight too. They are all very pleased with him. I also read that he has won numerous awards for his work.

Pokerdot, how do u go about doing LASIK? What are the procedures like? Do i just go directly to SNEC? How much did u pay? Are there things to look out for? Pls advise. Thanks

Hi
Just call SNEC for an appointment. You can request for Dr Leonard Ang, or the staff can allocate you a surgeon randomly. You have to first make an appointment to assess if you are suitable for LASIK. If yes, then you can proceed with LASIK. The operation is fast and painless. It takes less than 5 mins per eye. The problem is your eyes might be dry for a while after LASIK. Still, it’s the greatest operation. It’s amazing that you can wake up in the morning and see clearly! The cost of LASIK is about $1300 per eye.

I did my Lasik at Laser Surgery Clinic @ Paragon in August, so far so good. the checkup at 1 month is 0degree, 6/6 vision. During the time when I done my surgery, there is only 1 surgeon, he's a senior surgeon, don't get to choose the doc. Anyway, he only look at you at the end of each checkup and during operation.

U mean u can do 2 eyes at one go or need to be one at a time? I presume it is a day surgery which does not require one to stay overnight, right?

I had it done 2 months ago. initially they over corrected but then after my eyes stablised, now my vision is 6/6! quite fast and painless procedure. only took 15 mins and I was out of the clinic.. it costs 2950 with everything in. no extra cost. immediately after the process, can see already. but a bit blur only. 2-3 days later quite clear.

I introduce my close friend to do the lasik at one of the clinic at Mount Elizabeth. She did both eyes in one day and everything is perfect till this moment since she did her lasik last year. Price was around $3K plus if I'm not wrong.

Just want to share my experience at the Lasik Surgery Clinic.

I had my evaluation done there today. On the whole the experience was good. Environment was clean, staff were helpful and highly organized and efficient.

One more thing to add which is probably out of point, it seems that most of the nurses are quite good looking. It seems as though the clinic intentionally selected nurses with good looks!

As for the bad points, there were just a few minor things. First, during the eye test, the nurse seemed to be rushing through the test. (she would ask if you could see the alphabets better with or without a particular lens, but she did this very hurriedly)

Second bad point, at the end of the evaluation, there would be this nurse that would run you through the LASIK process. This is called the "medical couselling session" and is done in a group. The one that attended to me, although knowledgeable, seemed like she was regurgitating information. She didn't look enthusiastic. And best of all when I asked her whether my first review apppointment would be on a SUNDAY if I did my surgery on a Saturday, she replied "I already said just now, first review appointment is always on the next day after appointment". This I felt was not very polite.

Lastly, after the abovementioned medical counselling session, the same abovementioned nurse went around asking all the patients whether they had high blood pressure/diabetes. This was done out loud I should think the patients sitting around can hear everything. This i felt should have been done in private

So on the whole I would say the experience is commendable for the fact that the procedures are highly efficient and organized. However, there are 1-2 nurses whose attitude leaves much room for improvement

I did my lasik 1.5years ago with LSC. Personally went to singapore eye centre to check it out, however the service level was very disappointed. So i did alot of research and finally decided on LSC, as i like the environment and how the doctor actually handle my sensitive eyes.

Dr Marc Tay attended to me. He should be the most experience doc in the clinic. Very good with his knowlege, felt very ease with him. Surgery only took 15mins, i was able to recover 80% of my eyes sight by the next day.

Now eyes is perfectly 6/6. Very happy with the outcome.

Just anote to all, please have a lot of sleep, and keep the area of the eyes clean. I think the sleep make my eyes recover faster! Haha!

i did mine at LSC with Dr Yap. The entire process of the evaluation was really organized and efficient. All the staff knew what they were talking about and were very friendly.

i was well taken care of from the moment i stepped in for the evaluation until my last review...the nurses even sends patients to the taxi stands if no one is picking u up from the clinic!

besides i read from somewhere that NASA recently approved LASIK for astro boys with the visx machine and intralase which LSC offers! if even NASA approves, it must be some great stuff they have there! besides, i've done my surgery quite sometime ago and its been great! vision's great! no complaints whatsoever.

I did standard lasik at LSC in Nov 2007 with Dr Yap. Total cost of surgery, eye protectors, antibiotics and 10 boxes of eye drops is $2.5k. I used California Fitness membership to enjoy a little discount. So far after 3 reviews, my eyesight has been 6/6. I really enjoy waking up with clear vision!

My colleague went LSC in the same period as me and his doc was Dr Marc Tay. Last month, his right eye had an infection (not sure what happened) and needed an enhancement surgery. In conclusion, no matter which eye surgeon you take, you still have to take very good care of your eyes...

Hi

i will be going for my review suitability soon with LSC.
Found out from the nurses that the review may take abt 3 hrs.
Just wish to find out whether anyone has done the LAsik surgery on the same day after the review?

Anybody experiencing having myopia again a few yrs after the Lasik sugery ?
In this case, are we still able to wear contact lens? or undergo Lasik Surgery again?...
how many times can we undergo this Lasik surgery for our eyes?

Hi lily,

i did my lasik 3yrs ago. Dun hv any of the concern you hv. so far so good and worth spending. i did it at Jerry Tan Clinic at Camden.

eyes looks dull only at the first couple of weeks due to dry eyes. My colleagues had that "problem" but I did not. One did at Camden by J Tan. I did mine at LSC by Dr M Tay. I extended the period for the advice given so as to be on the safe side.

It's great doing all the tasks without glasses I must agree.

However, astigmatism is something that I still cannot get rid of since I believe it's genetically linked.

Hi All,

I was interested in getting lasik done, and I called up LSC. They told me that they are having
FREE Pre-LASIK Evaluation~~! (normally $100)

So I made an appointment with them and went down for an evaluation. Not bad, now intending to do my procedures there. =D

~~They are now having another promotion on top: IF YOU BRING SOMEONE ALONG, both get $200 discount!~~

Does anyone want to do lasik @ LSC???
I need a partner to "pair up" and enjoy the $200 discount! Please sms/call me @ 93830241 if you are interested, thanks!

i think the free evaluation is on going.. I went for it last year.. But chix out the last min.. Cos i am worried abt the surgery. I felt that one of my eye was not properly dilated so the evaluation was not accurate. After my evaluation, I was being assessed by Mr Goh. Didnt really like him though. But one of my friend had her eyes done by Dr M. Tay. She is very happy with the results. Maybe I will go to him too if I finally find the courage..

Hi Ivy,

Its normal for the eye to be red after 1 week. My colleague did hers at the LSC earlier and when she returned to work 1wk later, her left eye is still red. Give it more time and the blood clots will go. I'll be gg for my surgery in 2 wks..nervous!

I heard the redness may stay ard 1-2 weeks. It varies from person to person. My sister did hers earlier this year at National Eye Centre and her eyes were red too. Common problem.

1 of my colleagues who did 1 yr back recommended Dr Marc Tay and so I will be having him as my doc.

Jas - I pay ard 2.7k for the surgery (including the eyedrops and antibiotics). The price also includes the evaluation which is free (coz of a promotion in Jun) and a $250 discount (same promotion - get 5 frens and all will enjoy $250 off). Not too sure if the promotion is still ongoing..when I booked my surgery, they were reluctant to give me the discount coz they wanted me to have my surgery in Jun. But I can only do it in late July coz I will be gg Bintan for a short trip. You can check with them when you are down for your evaluation.

Hi hi sleepyskies,

hee, i think i will call up for pre evaluation.
when did u sign up? is it during june? or july then sign up still entitle $250 discount?

sleepyskies

New Member
Hey Jas,

I went down for the free evaluation on 15 Jun with a few other colleagues. 2 of them went on to do their surgery on 19 Jun (and they got the $250 off right away).

Me and another colleague confirmed our surgery on 30 Jun; we actually went down to make full payment as the sales executive I spoke to said we have to pay in full to enjoy the $250 discount. But when we got there and were attended by another sales executive, she said she can only give us $150 off since the surgery is in late July. After insisting that we were told as long as full payment in Jun, we are entitled to the $250, she gave us the discount. Abit weird if you ask me, coz if I pay in full..does it matter when I do my surgery?
happy.gif

Anyway, you can even do your surgery on the same day as the evaluation. But some ppl say that its better to wait at least a few days (or even a week). This is coz they dilate your eyes for the evaluation. Though they will give you eyedrops to reverse the dilation...the correction might not be totally accurate and complete. Guess it varies for individuals. Thats what my sis told me as she has done alot of research on lasik before doing hers at National Eye Centre.
happy.gif

Do check with them on the $150 off when you are down for the evaluationm, Jas. Might not be much but at least you get to save some. hehe. If they need any names (to show that you are a fren/referral), you can PM me.

I did my lasik surgery on July 10, with Dr. Marc Tay at Paragon medical and had a nice expeerience with this doctor. I went for the evaluation and did the surgery on the same day as they said if you do on the same day, they will give me 200 dollars discount. So actually i've decided to do this surgery so I just did it on the same day and enjoy 200 dollars discount. After 2nd review my eyes are 6/6 perfect vision and see thing clearly except when my eyes are too dry, then will abit blur in vision. I had great experience at this lasik centre and I do agree that all nurses are good-looking and helpful. I also don't need to wait for long time for the evaluation or the surgery queue. Anyway, I am not regret at all to make this decision. Hope you all will enjoy it too...

Hi Jas,

Sorry for the late reply - have been on MC the past wk due to lasik surgery. Hehe. Had my surgery on 23 July..so far, 1wk into the 'no glasses' phase, everything is great except for the dryness and red spots in left eye.
happy.gif

On my 1st review (1 day after surgery), the doc (also Dr Marc Tay whom I strongly recommend!) reassured me that I shld not worry abt the red spots in my left eye as it is normal and will go away in 1-2wks time. The red spots were pretty huge initially but some went away after a few days. My vision is not 6/6 yet and its abit blurry (lights will have a 'halo' effect esp at night). Do understand that these will go away with time too.. as my colleague who did her surgery 1 mth earlier shares the same signs.

Am looking forward to my 6/6 vision soon!
