for those who went with hong thai with jeju package, i understand they stay 2 nights at oriental hotel which is near to the emart, can i check what do they sell in the emart. can we get things like heat pack, sweater and jacket, and other winter wears in the emart. thinking of just bringing a standard set of winter cloths there, the rest buy from the emart. is it cheaper to buy in the emart than singapore.

hi tataneikr,
yours come with free gift, not bad. still thinking whether to buy some winter wear from the emart at jeju area. singapore winter clothing limited design and not cheap too.

hi all,
anything recommended to buy at the emart, for those who went with HT, does all the hotel provide towels, toothpaste and toothbrush, and other basis toiltries. Heard someone say korea is a country which does not provide such items in some hotels.

hi all,
for those who went hong thai, i heard the ski equipment is not provided, how about the half day ski pass, is it included? how much is the rental of the ski equipment and half day ski pass.

milochia

New Member
not bad..although for the same price, natas fair gave out quite a no.of freebies for early birds...

HT does not include ski wear & equipmt...got to rent on our own..was told abt $70/pax.
In the itinerery, i don't see that they r giving us much time for the skiing at the ski resort.....not hightlighted as their main selling point.

i did not check of the ski pass thing..

heard its very cold fr someone who came back last sat....
i purchased fr frenz, her extra heat pad for body & feet..also selling at OG at $1.60 for bodypad & $9 for 5pr of footpad..

hi milochia,

yes the weather is very cold, and it will get worst in jan.

so you bought heat pack from OG at $1.60 each, do you know that winter times selling at $12 for 10 pack. why dont you get from winter times, is it you do not need so many packets? how many hours can the packet you bought from OG. winter times heat pack can last 18 hours, not sure true or not.

Hi Chua Ting,

Can you provide more details on your bad experience with the CTC tour guide? Thought CTC provides excellent services? I am even planning to go US next year with them.

Oh...it's like that. CTC only provide 70% of meals. then during the tour, the Chinese speaking tour guide asked everyone whether if ok if she arrange for the other 30% of meal together @W10,000 per adult. Some of the singapore people don't quite understand Chinese. at the end of the day, the tour guide brought us almost every meal to steamboat... it is considered quite expensive at W10,000...you can get some decent food at food court usually at W5,000-6,000....

Moreover, many people not happy with the photographer....imagine every shot he take, he will charge you W5,000 per photo....some family end up with 30+ photo...that's W150,000....almost S$250 !!! and the quality of the photographs also SO-SO only...but the tour guide kept asking us to be "compassionate" and buy from the photographer....everyone kinda of feeling being "forced" to buy the photos...

Ohh... I got good experience with CTC. My tour guide is Ah Ken. He is such a funny guy! He did arranged 3 meals for us. All we feel are quite nice - steamboat of diff version e.g. liu wang duck. lol .....

As we are a small gp of 21 paxs with only 4 families, we dun have Sg tour leader & photographer. Save $!

The disappointments are the shopping time is short & we dun get to see snow!

Do check out my photos: http://belindayeo.multiply.com/photos/album/28

Just checking, do we need to pay them service fees plus tips too?

Hey bel,

Thanks for the photos..it makes enjoyable viewing.

Hubby and I will be travelling on 7 Jan w Hong Thai 8 days 'All In' Package. Haha can't wait to fly. There will altogether be about 21 pax including some children. When we asked about tipping for the local guide, the counter staff said now its not call tipping, its called Service Fees. Whatever you want to call it, you only need to pay one time..and ours is 40k won per person.

Regards shopping, din't the rest of the tour members kind of make noise and complain there is not enough time to shop. Cos last time my sis went, the local guide there compromised w the tour members to forgo certain itinenaries and spend more time on shopping. It worked and everyone was happy.

Heard from our Jap penpal that Korea is now 'v v v cold'.

Hi I travelled with hongthai also.
actually if you are non chinese and dun speak chinese please dun travel with hongthai.
As their guides are all chinese speaking and they dun understand and speak english at all.
if posiible do all shopping at jeju Emart for food stuff its the cheapest.

speedtest99

hi all,

those who went with hong thai, did you go to pyong yong ski resort, which hotel do you stay there? how much time was allow at the ski resort?

sunflowerz

actually its depends, we change hotel practically evertday.
Emart is opposite Jeju oriental. Its just across the road. it close around 10 pm but next day you need to wake up at 4am to catch a super early flight back to seoul so please dun shop too late you be very very tired.

Actually by the time you reach yong pyong its already 8 plus -9 pm . any skiing will be night skiing.so you wun have much time at the resort either.

anyone going to korea recently soon n dun mind buying face masks for me from The Skin Food? Cos i've some leftover korean won that i wan to spend. Will pay for all postage

speedtest99, there's Misha and Skin Food as well, what i did was I bought a few to try when I was there then bought those that I like on my second last day. It's a good way to try out and with the weather there so cold and dry, the mask feels good on my skin at night. But if you have sensitive skin, than you might want to do a patch test first.

Hi speedtest99,
the itinery goes this way.
1)dinner then rent ski equipment or rent then eat
2) reach and check in to yong pyong at ard 8?
3) check in then come down to meet and ski till 11
4) next day check out at 8 eat breakfast then take cable car to dragon peak.
5) then travel on to next destination

yah you have to rent shoes, you need to buy gloves and cape
rental - 27,500 won if i didnt remember wrongly

oh if you guys dun take beef maybe you like to arrange for special food on board KOrean AiR coz all the meals include beef
