Oh dear, Rinnie, hearing you say that scares me. My wedding is in Dec too, and I still thought calling them now is a bit too early.

I have already contacted Prof Yu but he's not available for my day. I will contact Mr Chan as well. But just in case, touch wood, I need a backup, can anyone recommend any other nice friendly JP that will put you at ease? I tend to be very shy infront of strangers and a big crowd. Thanks.

Hi Moo&po,

yes my JP is Mr Goh Chee Koh. Eh. . he is more like the 慈祥 fatherly kind, not so much as funny. That time we dun have MC, so he just sort of be the MC for us too.

Do you have multiply? If yes, maybe you would like to add me? My photos has Mr Goh inside, and my videoclip also show the ceremony, so you can see how he conduct. My id is lingandyang

If not, i'll just email you his pic.

He's good, fiona. Very nice and approachable. He's my JP and many other brides' too. He does not sound fierce or look fierce in personal. Do call him to see if he's available. No regrets having him to be my JP. I had the ROm at my house fyi and he's there early...so he chatted with my relatives before our arrival. Very patient and soft spoken JP.

He speaks both English & Mandrine for our ROM. He did crack couple of jokes during our ROM. Guess that depends on atmosphere too.

hi Brenda,,

i also had a very bad experience with Mr Chan too.

My wedding is end of this year 2007. Being a kiasu couple and after reading about good comments of Mr Chan in this forum, my bf actually call him last year(2006) dec to pre-book him to be our JP.

Of cos, he agree and according to him he has already noted down our solmenization date in his book. He in fact ask us to call him ard July 2007 to confirm again. We felt so lucky that time.. smiling away.

We did. We call back ard july 2007. His response was... 'Oh, why u call now, is very early. Call me ard Oct period'. Of cos, we know we a bit kiasu la. But we just wan to make sure he got our 'bookings' and everything is on schedule.

Just early this week. We called him again. Guess what, first he ask us why we call him for, later he told my bf that he did not note down our date of solmenization and ask we all to look for other JP to conduct our solmenzation! During the whole conversation, his tone was kinda of rude.

Imagine you were in my position, how will you all react?? Now, i have to start to look for other JP again..haiz...

We've booked Mr Phang for our wedding this 27 Nov in July but he just called us and said he cannot make it and arranged for Mr Koh to be our JP instead.

I am a bit sad that I can't have Mr Phang for our JP but I am glad he is responsible enough to help us book Mr Koh.

Hi Jue,

I had also booked Mr Phang for my wedding in Nov but he called my Htb and said he can't make it cos he's overseas. He helped us get Mr Koh too but my Htb is not very happy abt it and somemore we need to get Mr Koh to sign our form again and he doesn't accept fax! Read some bad feedback on Mr Koh from his thread. Really pray tat things will go well on my wedding day.

My friend had the same encounter as you jonic...she was recommended Mr Koh to be her JP when Mr Ohang could not make it.

Mr Koh as feedbacked from her guests was very prof and candid. Worry not if you think Mr Koh is gonna affect your mood/ROM.

My friend's case had Mr Phang to organised everything (including the charge to transfer JP) paid by Mr phang.

Hi SK,

U mean we have to pay if we change our JP? Didn't know tat. Thanks! But the prob now is we dun have much time b4 our rom and we need to give Mr Koh to sign our form personally.

Have you contacted Mr Koh? Got his contact to call him?

I think I read somewhere that we need to pay for a change of details. If the problem doesn't lie with us then the JP will need to do the necessary actions on their parts.

Hi Jonic,

Mr Phang said he arranged for the transfer for us already. We took the initiative to contact Mr Koh and he said we should meet up.

We are going to meet up with Mr Koh next week. I saw some really good feedback about Mr Koh so I am trying not to worry.

I hope you wouldn't worry too much too!

I just made a new discovery on last saturday when I attended my friend's solemnisation at the China Club. It was conducted by very young and goodlooking Mr Chia Ti Yu in Mandarin. He made it a joyous and relax affair, even the sharing to the couple on how to maintain a successful marriage life was carried out in a very relax manner instead of a serious tone which I have previously witnessed.

I immediately asked him for his contact notwithstanding that me and my bf have yet to fix the date for our solemnisation.

One new discovery to share with all of you!

Hi Jan,

Any photos of Mr Chia to share? Hahah.. wondering if he's Mrs Chia's son... heee...

Anyway.. what kind of message did he share?
How long was his sharing session?
How young is he??

No, I did not take photos of him on Sat. Got to ask from my friend. Not sure if she would like to share their pictures taken with him. But I read from somewhere in the forum that one of the couples is sharing the photos taken of him. I have just requested for it. If I do get it, I can share with you.

The sharing was in mandarin was about 5 mins, it was something along the lines of building a strong marriage on the foundation of strong finances as well as apportioning of earnings to take care of various aspect of life. (Cant really recall everything, but it was definitely very touching and meaningful.) Could see tears forming in the eyes of the bride and her mum.

He looks something like early 30s only

Ha ha, He must definitely be Mrs Chia's son, but not sure if that is the same Mrs Chia you are talking about.

I just had my ROM in an outdoor garden & JP was Mr Koh Kok Weng. He's a very humble, friendly man, always smiling. No air abt him at all & so u won't feel stress.
Good thing abt him is he has prepared different set of vows for us. Not the usual "til death do us part" type.
