He does not have a website from what I know... But you can arrange to meet with him and he will show you photos....

Seems so Rasp... We have been working slowly since the beginning of the year and so are more or less settled on most stuff.

Photoshoot done in June, album should be ready in 2 weeks... Clothes and jewellery all bought.. just need to do tailoring of lengha and saree blouse. Hoping to put on weight before dec. so tailoring on hold for now.. ha ha...

Just concentrating a little more on the fine details and the planning of the dinner now...

What about you?

Hi, gals! Debbie's back.. yup, i m one of the been-there-done-that brides that one of the gals was talkin' abt.. hehe.. and hi, Raspberriez! the big day is nearing, yea? awesome!!! and i hope u'll share how the pics turned out.. i m sure u looked gorgeous. =)
thanks also for sharing on the aunty josephine who caters food.. nex time we have a makan session, i know who i can call.. hehe.

I've been bz being married, handling a transition at work (still same profession but not in the same location), living with in-laws (and as much as they are nice folks, Home Sweet Home is the way, my future bride frens!) and just completed my search for a new home. Nex search- contractors, renovators, shopping lobangs for home furnishing.. sighz.. one chase after another.. but it is all exciting and fun.

So far, i see a few common queries- Make up wise- traditional one ppl have quoted Menaka i think and as for modern, Shanti is the person however she is often heavily booked so do book early (yup, speaking from experience) but once she works on u, u will c that u have been transformed into the vision of beauty. she is that good.
as for accessories- got choker, earrings set from Little India Arcade, Mr Kumar, tall, smiley Indian man. if i am not wrong, his shop is just beside the sweetmeat shop. called Halifax Trading.
My bangles i purchased from Stylemart cos they happened to offer the best price then for something that looked that outstanding. ($130) Some of the other shops were charging at a 20-30 dollar per piece range, which was plain crazy for a bride on budget like me. the one thing i splurged on and never regretted- my evening gown for dinner reception. It was a sari sewn into a 2-piece by their in-house designer, Kavitha. BUt that too was granted at a good price. Shoes with stones- bot from Hue at 160+ but it kept coming out cos the netting of my can can (white bridal gown) kept getting stuck in it. hehe.. it was realy funny kicking and untangling at the same time with a thousand watt smile. heard robinsons and such are also good places for gem-bedded shoes..
omi.. i hv gone on an info overload. hehe.. ok, shall stop here. see u gals soon! till that, enjoy the preps cos once it's over, u'll miss the euphoria. god bless!

Hi
I'm getting married in June 2009 :) ... am looking for pearls of wisdom from fellow brides to be. For starters -- where can I rent a wedding gown that does not cost and arm and a leg? Does not make sense to buy something that I will not wear again! And I have heard so much about Shanti's makeup. Anyone has pics to post?
Thankee

Hie there..
gonna do my engagement and ROM togther. Got referred to this forum (thanks LFC). At the moment, i am totally clueless abt wat to do and i'm pretty much on my own to plan the event. where do i start???

thanks

Hi, Naz
There are some bridal companies that do rental of wedding gowns but if u take it aone, usually costs alot. u can also check the marketplace exchange place on this forum place n see if anyone is selling their gowns.

As for Shanti's makeup, i have used her services for my photoshoot and i was totally amazed. she is good. however, she is quite a busy lady so u need to book her way in advance and get her to confirm u so u know that it is for sure. That way u end up disappointed. SHe wasn't available for my actual day n i used her fren, Suji. it was alright but she's not good with hairdo. but that God for my frens so it all turned out well. =)

Hi, Gayathri.
first thing, have u got the date settled?
next, scout around for the venue cos some places like restaurants may be booked so u need to check if the place u wan to hold the post-ROM makan is available. Alternatively, u can book a hall/function room n get some company to do catering for food. Some that i heard which are good are Mayura and Casurina. Personally, at my wedding venue, they had fixed Casurina as the caterers n tho we paid a bit more than the reg $10 (cos the management of my venue will earn commission), the food was yummy and worth it and we had ordered more than enuf, such that when they ta pau for us the leftover, it was jus nice for me n hubby to eat wen we returned to the honeymoon suite.. hehe!

And of cos, needless to say, u also need to find someone to video/photograph u on that day. So u need to find that too. But settle venue first so all else will fall into place. =)

Gals, hope what i have shared was helpful, ya?? and happy planning!

Hie Debbie,
thanks for the info. Let me update you on wat i have done so far.

FH and i have chosen Jan 2009 but dates are being checked out.

Locations have already been chosen with engagement being done in the morning at the temple and the ROM at night at a chalet.

Foodwise, we are looking at a few restaurants recommended by alot of our friends..narrowed down to 2 just a while ago

Frends are helping us for deco and emcee.

Now the problem is i have not figured out wat i wanna wear for the ROM. For the engagement, i'm just gonna wear a simple saree, not using MUA for that, only for ROM. btw i heard you recommending shanti but are there any pictures you could send me? my only fear is that since i have brown skin tone, i dun wanna end up lookin like a ghost on that day. Is she good with dark skin too?

Thanks...

Hie Ladies..hope u all are doing fine. Past weekend was eventful..went to my FH's place on sun and MIL said she wanted to do the traditional rites by next year instead of 2011. Happily told me to screw the engagement and just do the ROM and wedding together on the same day..so we are possibly lookin at anywhere between Sept to Dec 2009 for the wedding..Back to the drawin board...*sigh* why did i ever agree to the marriage?

Hi gerlss,,,
Especially indian Brides, pls be cautious of your choices and never make a wrong choice as it can make ur wedding disastrous...
I heard frm my friend that this owner ms sussie, owner of susiee house of beauty i sso unprofessional and has weird temper. My friend chose and went to do the picking of ornaments for her big day and realised that she was so impatient and answering her questions in a way as and if she is irritated.. It was like at the same time, she was yelling at her staff and calling them dogs and like sacking them frm the job. She is so unprofessional and using abusive words on ppl and this was very unsightly and her first impression of her was really bad. This is not the way to carry herself infront of customer and not the likely way to treat the staff as well. PLs think twice especially INDIAN brides when choosing a good bridal svc but i heard that MENAKAS is damn good in service especially.

hi rASP!
Actually, i was quite cool abt wedg preps.. my hb did all the worrying for both of us and all other ppl involved.. hehe.. i did my bit n he did his bt since he is a bit of a perfectionist, the lil thgs mattered loads to him. I was a bit more laid back but also involved on many levels. so it is cool to be back to spread some calm in this forum too.. anyway i can help, i will be here. however, since i m busy shopping for furniture n renovators, been unable to log in here much.
Hi, Gaya3.
Hey, sori to hear there is a sudden change of plans with regards to the ROM and all.. dun regret gtg married, babe.. it is normal for our folks to get involved and make a mess here and there. most impt is that u r marrying the love of ur life. enjoy the process (can be quite stressful at times but laff it off w good pals.. not worth incurring the wrath of Lady Wrinkes cos of all the frowning.)
Look at it on the bright side- now u have only ONE MAIN EVENT to plan and with good pals to depend on, u shd do fine, gal.

With regards to Shanti's makeup, i am not a fair gal myself but her makeup for my studio pix were priceless. on my part, 2 weeks before the shoot, i ate right n drank water only before 8pm (they say it causes water retention), slept early (for 2 weeks gave up my addiction to Desperate Hsewives- temporarily at least.. hehe!) She is a very skilled artist. SHe uses quite a few foundation bases to mix n even out the skin tone and so on so dun wori- u will look radiant on ur big day. the pics are on my facebook. for privacy reasons, i wun b able to email/post the pics here. but perhaps u wan 2 add me as a fren so u can c the pics? haha.. i feel like i m forcing u to b my fren.. haha! but u won't go wrong with Shanti but just on a more personal note, MAKE SURE U HAVE CONFIRMATION that she is DEFINITELY TAKING U cos she is very bz n mite get booked/be already booked. so do confirm that, ok, girl? u take care and God bless. =)

Hola!

How are all the BTBs doing? Great, I hope!

Well, I am finally settling down in my new place and am starting to seriously prepare for the wedding proper. Realised that i could not juggle a new house and a wedding at the same time, so concentrated on one thing at a time and chose the house to prepare for first.

And now the wedding. Hotel booked. Anyone has done a sanathi wedding before? The temple mgmt keeps saying that i can only book three months before. A bit scary.

Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

hi jac jac,

same boat as you.
am chinese, FH indian.
i got a chinese PG, simply cos more of their works online, less hassle to look at portfolios.
i think most PGs would be able to handle multicultural weddings, don't worry.

when is your big day?

Hi, Nit R
Sorry to hear of ur dilemma. I really don't have any membership for u. Did u try any other places like Fort Canning or Yishun Safra? What's the max guests u looking at? if u are comfy, PM me cos i hardly come in to this thread and am bz w reno matters? or email me at [email protected]
take care and God bless!
With regards to Shanti's hairdos, they worked well for me, even her wigs enhanced my outfits. she is good. not sure abt accessories cos i used my own- her accessories for me were pottu, chandelier earrings for one of my other sari outfits, and wigs. hehe.

Hi necrosis,

The usual ones that people recommend are Mayura Catering and Gayatri restaurant. There is also Casuarine Curry, although I think the former two are more famous for catering Indian food.

Senja Grander,

Thanks for the info, do you have any photos to share?

Still looking for PG/VG...may take up Edmund Leong cos his style for photography quite good...
