Since the previous thread for weddings has been closed for quite some time, i thought starting up a new thread would be a gd way to get all BTBs some help. Any suggestions, comments, criticism to ease everybody's confusions are welcome. Let's start helping each other!

Let me start off by asking if anyone knows of any venue which can
- accomodate more than 40 tables
- engage our own caterer
- excl. khalsa, futsing, chinese chamber, cc

Writing again after a really long time...

I had booked Sutha for my wedding henna too. Had tried Saheli's for bridal make up which i would say its $80 though but actually didn't really like it though..Not gonna book her. Her contact is 91816422. Might be sticking to my ROM Make up artiste who is Kavitha owner of Kasanth Beauty Parlour. Still haven book my wedding services for deco though. My hubby was suggesting Managalam Wedding Services. Any comments abt them? As for food we have decided on Mayura's Catering.

You can try Di Gio bridal studio. I`m doin my photoshoot with them end of may`08. Dresses are realli drool. Service is great.You can take alook at their albums.Find d pics nice. Was really worried abt MUA. However, their in-house MUA amanda did a supereb job during the trial. My features were really taken out. Alternatively, if you want to try a PG, you try nick go* (replace * with h). M getting him to be my ROM photographer. He has done lots of works with indians. V.professional. My friends had him and no regrets. His webbie is www.nickgo*.com. replace * with h.

I am so depressed.

All the dates that I had proposed to GCW are not available anymore. I mean, they are for May 09, for God's sake!! How can they be booked so early????

I have no idea what to do now. I mean, the lady at GCW told me that from Feb to May 09, the Sundays are all booked. And I really like the hotel ballroom.

Beyond depressed at this point. I have been up and down to so many hotels and I finally settled on one, and this has to happen. Hate to say this, but people piss me off when they say things like "'08 and '09 are very popular years for the Chinese couples." I mean, which year is not popular with them anyway?!

Does it mean that we have to make sure that the date and year is not popular with the Chinese couples, before we choose our dates?

Sigh.

Hi gals,

For those of you who are looking out for costume jewellery for your sarees or lengas, you can go to this shop called 'Amba Ji'. Itz juz before jinders along the selegie road lane. Was hunting for costume jewellery @ reasonable prices. Went to V2 creations and a few others along seragoon road. Was quoted super ex. prices like $350- $500. Worst part was, the jewels did not even look the price. Was really delighted to find very stylish looking accessories at a reasonable price at amba ji.

Good day to all the wonderful ladies who have contributing valuable tips to this forum. I'm planning to have my ROM on 2nd Nov and wedding early next year.

I am finding it challenging to source for wedding services as I now live in Australia. The ROM and wedding will both be held in Singapore coz both our families are back home.

More or less, we have got the venue and catering settled. I am looking for a good pre wedding photo studio. We intend to take studio shots (with traditional indian costumes) in Singapore and outdoor shots (thought it will be something different) in Perth.

A quick scan through the forum has several recommendations for good studios. However, can anyone of you recommend any studios which provide indian costumes?

Also, do these studios do makeup and hairdo or do we have to get that done privately?

Have never taken studio shots before.

From the info. i gathered, these studios do have indian costumes which you can choose from. Alternatively, you can choose to bring in an outfit or two. Make-up and hairdo is done by the studio`s make-up artist. You can choose to go for a trial make-up. But tink you will need to pay for them.

hey girls! any idea what exactly should go into the hotel wedding dinner contract? coz some details like for example that every table will have a basket of rose petals are not in the contract and the coordinator says this is under her perogative so it needn't be included. i've heard some people say that EVERY detail ought to be listed to avoid any future misgivings.. any thoughts?

Hi worried.
I think it is necessary to list every detail in your hotel contract. Coz, it may be the case wherein the decor/look/feel might not be what you anticipate if suddenly changes are made due to circumstances. I`m currently working out my hotel contract too. Trying to ensure, i`m nt in for any rude shocks. Hence, insist on everything being in black and white.

I just went shoe hunting too... Got mine from ViVi at vivocity... original price $134, but was on 50% discount! They have shoes with lots of stone work. The other place we saw really nice ones was Takashimaya. price range: $100-$200. The biggest size they have is 40 though... So if you have big feet like me, it might be a problem.

Hi galz! I've done my gown choosing n it was fantastic! I enjoyed tryin on the many many gowns and their service standard NEVER once dipped(Preciou* Moment* Bridal)*replace with s. Didnt hav much problem choosing my AD church gown cuz after trying on the 8th gown, FH n myself decided we found THE one It was the AD EG that was a headache! Either the colour didnt suit me, or i wanted a diff design, or the dress couldnt be altered. There was this orange mermaid-cut gorgeous dress that caught our eyes -cuz of the colour n the design BUT.... it couldnt be altered!!! arrrgH! so had to settle for another AD lacy EG. Got an uber cool EG for PS and a simple pearl encrusted outdoor gown as well.But overall, it went great! Took solid 3hours to choose jus MY outfits, FH was done in 20mins ! haha...

Oh n i've rented out the traditional suits from LOOKS as well. Rented cuz itz just for the photoshoot. Beautiful stuff they've got! Lenghas, matching accessories, sarees, dresses and Men's wear. Now gettin in shape for PS which is in..... 2weeks time!

Abt the Saheli issue, itz not the 1st time someone else's work has been pasted in the site n claimed as their own. So we brides have gotta be extra careful n observant. Sly sly people out thr, dearies.
Jus to share, i came across this caterer at a friend's small wedding church reception. She provides really resonable tea reception/ finger food for a good price.. Im placing my orders with her for my AD church tea reception. Since she does the cooking at her place, she can cater to a max of 60pax for now. I actually bought mine a few weeks back! My HTB follows the Aadi month thing quite closely and so i guess i wouldn't have benefitted from it.

I bought my wedding saree from them earlier and so did get a discount on the lengha... But from what i remember... I dont think the sale applies to wedding lenghas... i might be wrong...

I have to go get my tailoring done there... hopefully the sale applies to services too! ha ha ha...

There is a shop in tekka arcade beside the sweets shop. The man hand makes the jewellery... so you can choose design, type of stones and colour... really gorgeous. Alot of brides go there to get their sets. I got my ROM set and another for my sis's wedding from there... don't mind renting them out if you're interested.

Is your wedding at a temple? If it is, the temple might have a standard person who can do the deco..
If it is not, Pandora does manavarai deco too... For traditional look, consider manavarai Guna (98194245). He does for most weddings at Tank rd and Perumal temple. Very nice person! He did for my sis's wedding last year... Have engaged him for mine too.
