Dear ladies,
It has been ages since I stepped in here
I guess after our weddings are over most of us just get so tied up with our new lives that we disappear from here. Anyway it's always good to catch up with you guys.
Rany - Sweets, you poor thing! so sorry to hear abt your episode but nevertheless, i'm sure you looked ravishing, and trust me, your guests would have been mesmerized by your pretty face and hair to notice the sari. Try to forget it la, and focus on more impt things, like the great sex and honeymoon! hahaha...
I had shereen to do my henna...she charges an outrageous price i think and she rushed thru the whole thing...although it turned out beautifully, it wasn't as intricate as I hoped and yes she was late... in terms of sari tying, shanti is really good. but I thought her hairstyling was so so only.
For my wedding, I had a Malay MUA from MediaCorp and she brought along a fantastic hairstylist. So really, even though I paid for one, I had two pple working on me all the time. It really sped things up. for sari tying, although she's not as good as Shanti, she was a great help cos she's done it for Ms Vasantham before. I did my own pleats and she helped to smooth them down. I didn't mind changing with the hairstylist cos the guys is soooooo gay. They were really funny and I throughly enjoyed my time with them. Although her makeup is abit heavy, it turned out very very nicely in the photos and video. The other MUA I had for my henna nite, Aisha, was also very good. Everyone loved her makeup but in photos, my wedding one looked better. Aisha is really good tho, comes very very early and will help you to no end. in terms of personality, she was a nicer person than my wedding day MUA. For both days, a total of 6 outfits make-up and hairstyle, I only paid $500. I wanted to go back to Shanti after my engagement, but I thought $700 was ridiculous.
Others - I know some of you were asking bout ready-made saris. You may want to check out the selection of saris in Haniffa Textiles. For about $300, you get really gorgeous pieces that would cost double at Stylemart. I know a very good tailor called UMY enterprises. Dun go to the tekka market ones. Stitching not good. It'll gost you about $100 for ready made sari and blouse but trust me, her stitching is very good and worth the money.
Food - Service and taste wise, I still highly recommend Muthu's. The servings are very generous and the moment food is running out, they top up from their restaurant. The food is piping hot and really, even their veg food was so good, my non-veg guests ate it all up. I recommend them even above my own wedding caterer cos I am so impressed with their service and standards.
All the best ladies....enjoy this special moment in your lives...
