Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Hi SK,
My bridal studio allowed me to wear up to 2 Indian costumes but then i had to bring in another MUA to do the Hairdos and MU for those costumes...that was very inconvenient and costly...the MUAs that i enquired me charged ard $400-$500 to come to JB. So i decided to put in some money and go for an Indian BS.

Hi Sphire,
Was it written in the contract that the decor and favors are subjected to change? Since your Banquet is at the end of the year, wouldnt they change the decor in time for the year-end festivities? Don worry too much abt the decor dear...the most impt thing in a function is the food and the hospitality of the hosts. But then again, its your wedding so its natural to want everything to your likings. Decor does make an impression...The white and garden concepts sound great to me! Do u need to pay extra if u want a change of favors?Try talking to your coordinator and we will be keeping our fingers crossed for you dear...All the best!

Kayla - The decor and favors were not really indicated in the contract. Yup.. jus got to cross finger and c how it goes. Will be getting my own favors from outside. The budget is max $1500.. extra cost..

Rania - Not sure abt Saheli... but their henna designs do look good. Planning to rent my lengha from them.

Hi everyone!

I'm back after a good trip in Perth and once back to Singapore, it was down to whirlwind preps for my ROM last Saturday. So yes, it's official. I'm a Missus now.

Gee, I've missed so much on this thread. But really glad to see everyone's been keeping busy and making headway with their plans.

Sphire - yeah, you should write to your coordinator and express your displeasure.

Chick - great you made headway with the shopping in Chennai. You must be feeling so relieved to write that off your list. And all the savings you made too! Wow!!

Kayla - I know how excited you must be waiting for the pics of your BS. When do you get them?

ROM went well, although the rain held up alot of people including my florist and slowed down my 2 maamis to a snail-pace. I DIY-ed my make up at MAC (a makeover) and got my hair done at Sessions at Grand Plaza Parkroyal. Happy with both results!! Dinner at Halia was very cosy and nice. Staff were really pleasant and went out of their way at times.

Also bought the thaali - the way gold prices are sky rocketting, it's not funny!!!

Made to order a sherwani from Stylemart and still looking for a third saree for the day (can either replace one of the wedding sarees or be saved for the banquet).

Banquet venue is booked for the Hilton - the function room seems recently refurbished but not the hotel and its rooms. It's a long-ish room and it can extend to the pool side if need be.

Anyone shipping your stuff over to the country where you're finally settling down? Either container shipping or sea-post?

Congrats, Rany!! Do share pics ya! My cousin had his ROM last Saturday too and the rain did cause a few delays there as well.

Could i check how much you were quoted for the made to order Sherwani from Stylemart? My hubby needs one for the wedding too...

Yes, will share pics once it's ready in a month's time. I'm just bouncing abt the place waiting for them.

SK - Your cousin was a tad bit lucky. We had to contend with lost sheep because we chose an obsure (but sentimental!) place like a gazebo in the botanic gdns. And who made up the search party? My hubs and I (in 3" heels). Because there was nobody else there at the time! But in retrospect, it was funny. As for the sherwani, I think Stylemart charged expensively. The 3 pc suit (incl shawl) came up to $600. Next door, at Indian Emporium, we were quoted about $300-400 for a MTM. Perhaps it was the fabric we picked out at Stylemart - shantung/raw silk fabric. I guess my hubs is smitten with Stylemart that I think he didn't really think of Indian Emporium when he said yes to Stylemart's MTM.

Sphire - Wld u have any idea how much your FH cousin spent? Did she take up the entire 20ft container? I don't have much stuff too. Bt just wondering if I should lump everything tog into a container, or use a few boxes for sea-post.

Kayla - Share, share, share! Your pics i mean. Hee! Gee, 2 hours in a jam must've been killing!! But more imptantly, are you happy with the results??

Chick - Our function room is called Panorama, it's on the 24th floor, same floor as the pool. Yup, can do pre-cocktail out there. I like that prospect because it sure beats mingling along the corridor. Also, the coordinator is an older lady so she's able to connect with my mother - who's paying for this banquet.

Rany - If i'm not wrong,... i think she mentioned $7K for 1 1/2 container. She used Crowns. Mi too wanna c ur pics.

Kayla - Share ur pics too. Must be something diff from the normal Sg ones.

hi ladies...

Kayla - Would love to see ur pics too!! [email protected]

Rany - My cousin chose to hold the function deep inside Seletar camp...It doesn't get any Ulu than that. I was there the earliest at 6pm as i was decorating the place. Everyone else was late. The JP & the DJ got lost!! They couldn't find the location!! But besides these hiccups the rest of the evening went pretty well.
As for the Sherwani, we were quoted about $350-$450 from Vaastram (a few stores down from Stylemart). I guess i'll try to shop for him in Delhi as he is quite particular about what he wants and i don't know if Vaastram can get him exactly that.

Met up with a chinese videographer yesterday. He seems to be keen about shooting a sikh wedding and easy to communicate with. Will try to look for one or two more and then decide. I'm also thinking of hiring 2 photographers instead of 1 :p.

Sphire - Eeks! $7K is def out of my budget. Over lunch, I checked with Singapore Post. A 20kg box to Aust costs abt $90 via sea-post. I might just do that with a couple of boxes since I don't have any furniture or massive appliances.

Re. flower girls, why don't you get ready made ones? They have really pretty ones at the bigger dept stores like Tangs, Isetan, Taka, etc. I think they'd be cheaper and fuss-free that way.

Kayla - I'm at [email protected]. Thanks in advance!

SK - Ooooh!!! Your cousin was in the same boat as me then. Yeah, I do agree that Seletar is rather ulu. Heh!

Re. your PG, agreed, it is worth it going for 2 PGs. We'd love to but we're on a budget. You can also ask your main PG if he has an assistant to shoot with him. The assistant can shoot photos of relatives and friends whereas the main PG can focus on you and your hubby. Getting a PG + asst might reduce your costs as opposed to getting 2 PGs.

Rany - FH cousin had furnitures to ship too.. she had no choice.
I dont wanna those normal flowergirl gowns. Cos wait after the event, the girls wont find a suitable occassion to wear them. Want to sew a simple gown in maroon satin. Also a way of thanking their parents in helping us in many ways for the wedding. Esp FH cousin in Perth. She helping us source lots of stuffs there. Also hv to c budget.

Kayla - Thanks so much for sharing your pics. I like how you look so radiant in your pics, esp your eyes and complexion! Glad also you're happy with the results. That's the most important, isn't it. Enjoy your trip and see you next week.

Sphire - That's very sweet of you going thru all that trouble for your flowergirls. I'm sure they'll appreciate it. Btw, is this for your banquet? Have u decided what you're wearing? I guess you have since you already have maroon in mind for the girlies.

Rany - One of the reasons i wanna go with 2 PGs is becos i like both their work and it would be nice to have pics from 2 different perspectives. The prices for one are really reasonable. Now if i could get the other one to revise his rates a little as we are repeat customer (used him for our ROM), we should be fine.
happy.gif

Sphire - Btw, how is your MTM gown coming along? Maybe you could try some chinese tailors at Chinatown for your flowergirls' dresses? Will let you know if i come across any good ones.

Rany- Yes its for my banquet. FH and I wanted the colour theme of Maroon and Gold. Since my ballroom may be total white, dont wanna camo my flowergirls. So thot of having them in Maroon. Goin to make ring bearer also wear maroon shirt... easy to find? My stationeries will be in gold.

SK - Thanks for the hint. WG is not ready.. fitting on 30 mar.
Mi going for both indian VG and PG for traditional... guess will cost abt $1200. For banquet is abt $1k.

Kayla, ur pics are gorgeous. I have to agree with Rany, ur complexion is flawless :)

SK, since i have 2 ceremonies, for the temple one will cost me about 1.2K for both PG and VG (this is the Indian one). The church + reception where i am going for Chinese PG+VG costs me about 2.2K i think.

Sphire..u r way ahead of game gal..me hvnt thot abt themes...

sphire80

Chick - u r lucky not to hv thot of theme. Its becos of mi being so sure of the colour theme, feeling so fustrated with Oriental now. Jus went down to Oriental forum. WOLA!.. lots of unhappy brides and some had 2nd thot of signin with Oriental. Looks like i'm not the only one.

Lisa - We signed up last year October so there could have been revisions in their rates this year. Our's is a weekday reception at the SSR ballroom. We are going with the Indian buffet dinner and we were quoted about $83 per head. However we have not gone into details like deciding on the final menu or decor etc...but i'm gonna stick to this amount per head as far as possible. What does ur package include? Are you going for the Grand ballroom on a weekend? Is it an Indian buffet or set dinner? How many guests are you looking to have? All these things make a big difference in the pricing.

We just finalised our VG for the actual day. We are not having one for the dinner. Sphire dear could you help update the table? We are going with Damon Low as our videographer.

SK - Thanks for the weepie email. I honestly had to reach out for a tissue while sitting at my office desk. You've got mail too.
Sphire - Sorry to hear your colour themes have been thrown out of whack becos of Oriental's changes. I'm not exactly bowled over by Hilton's themes either. They have about 4, i think. But either they are too girlie or abit stuck in the 80s so it's a little difficult to choose. But I'm thinking, aiyah, let's just feed the guests and get it over with. ;)

Say, anyone doing a montage or film animation during your banquet? We're not engaging a DJ/emcee but neither do we want our guests to fall asleep mid-way thru dinner.

Chick - When is your photoshoot? Have you settled on a gown from Z yet? I recall you had problems with them on your last visit. I'm dying to have a trial with Shanti but I still haven't yet decided what I'm wearing to the banquet!!

Btw, if anyone has not yet decided on an MUA, you can try Mas (Wahijah) who works at MAC at Raffles City. She freelances as a bridal MUA so she can do both make-up and hair. I only found this out when I got her to do my ROM make-up. Already too late for me cos I've engaged Shanti.

Sphire - Dont worry..I'm sure i'll be dropping by the forum from time to time after my wedding :p. Speaking of themes, gotta start making appointments with Hyatt to go into the nitty gritty stuff.

Rany - Thanks for your email. I replied as well. I'll be featuring highlights of the day wedding at the reception along with a photo-montage...

Rany - Btw, how much does Mas charge for actual day make-up & hair and trial? Could you share pics of ur ROM make-up please? Thanks, dear...

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the compliments...I am sure all of yours would turn out really well!
I am in KL right now...staying in a relative's house...found out that the groom's family did not arrange any MUA for my cousin...Poor thing, she was sobbing the whole night...We are in a helpless situation. I can do a bit of MU but cant do hairstyles...Somemore, flowers are hard to get cos of the rainy season. I suggested doing a simple hairstyle...u know, the scorpion-type of plait with some jasmine flowers over it.even Jasmine flowers are hard to get...Yeeks! don know what we are going to do tmr...

Hi SK,
Yes i am planning to do a video montage with some photos of my Engagement, ROM & BS...hopefully, can include some clips of my customary wedding...I wanted to do one with the childhood pictures but its easier said than done...I asked my hubby abt it and he only gave me 3 photos saying that he was camera-shy when he was young! I am going to borrow the software from my fren to do this...

Hi Sphire,
Can u help me update the table with the following details? Thanks dearie...

Wedding & Banquet PG: Paneer
Wedding & Banquet VG: Naga
Banquet MUA: Classic Bridal
BS: Classic & Susiee Bridal

Hi gals...sorry been away for too long. Tryign to catch up wid the reading. Kayla congrats on ur wedding. Rany the gazebi at botanical gardens must hv been so romantic. Congrats gal.

Ok Kayla/Rany cld i also b kpo and see ur pixs. [email protected]

Abt my wedding planning...decided to make it simple cos we rather spend on ourselves. We gonna have a lunch at Khalsa (bride side) and then dinner at Fort Canning (groom side) the next day.

No MUA, VG, PG etc. have a few frens doing it for us. They r professionals. We're both so busy travelling and decided tat a simple cosy affair will just be the best and i wanna be mingling wid the crowd so gonna be quite casual. hahahaha. Planning to have our 10th anniversary bash or maybe 25th....let's see.

Meantime will keep login in as often as possible to share k.

All the best.

hi ladies,

Lisa - The official indian caterer for Legends is Riverwalk Tandoor. So the food we had was from there.

I've confirmed Kenneth from Tsang Studios as my second PG for all my events. Sphire dear, when you have some time maybe u could update the table? Thanks.
