No worries..i have booked my wedding with Hyatt to be held in Nov 08 period. Have placed deposit and gotten the pricing (overall) for one table so hope that can help.
Their perks is decent, wont say its fantastic cos they are rather strict..cant nego much unless u decide to forgo some stuff.

hi ulimate

thanks for yr reply.
I saw camelia room but i didnt like it . Sorry but it is too old and dim. Why dun u take the Sir Stamford Rm...they cater for 200 guests., u juz have to add another 10 of yr frens...to make it 200.

r u going down to the bridal promotion at hyatt this sat?

cos my AD date is too popular and there were probs securing a good venue. Maybe diff perception,i like cosy and intimate settings (warm lights vs white lights sorta analogy). Did u see a real wedding setup when u went dwn? I saw a black and red theme with the petals strewn on the table, plus cute bows tied to each seat which made the whole place look rather classy...

Hi everyone, I went down to Grand Hyatt for their bridal showcase today and I quite like their package and it still has the date I want (jun '09). Tried its food too and it is good! However the only minus point is that the magnolia + vanda rooms have pillars. The pillars are quite big actually. I dunno if guests will be put off by them but the catering manager actually told me that they will put 2 LCD tv to show a live telecast of what is happening on the stage for those ppl who are blocked. Anyone intending to book or has booked magnolia + vanda room?

hi Ling

i didnt like Magnolia/Vanca and even the camelia ballroom cos they have big pillars. Also their mosiac is black and very old. The lights arent attractive at all and it looks so old. plus it is black in color and very dim.

Sir Stamford Room is better

so did u sign up with them?

I'm actually looking at 30-32 tables. And I do not want to max out the no. of tables in the Sir Stamford Room cos it might be very squeezy. So only magnolia/vanda rooms fit. Yah.. my FH also feels that the rooms look old and dim. Didn't sign up with them but got them to reserve for us for the time being as we might be exploring other hotels with pillarless ballrooms.

i see. thanks for sharing.
Ling, with 30-32 u can try Intercon hotel. More nicer and i think pillarless

how long hyatt can hold for u?

Hyatt can hold 5 days for me. Today's the deadline and I'm finally going for it after much deliberation. Intercon is very ex esp on an auspicious date, and I heard that the service and food is not really worth the price. Anyway I'm just gonna play around with the layout of the tables to minimize blockage as I'm taking just the min no so I won't need all the space. Hopefully with the tables, they will "brighten" up the place. =)

Oh.. by the way Sir Stamford Room will be undergoing reno during Jun '09 that period.

Dear Ling

I wanted to have SRR also, but i was not told it undergo reno. But I know Hibiscus is. I dun like when I sign a contract I like to function room, then they go for reno, u know the feeling and rest are very different...also most of the sales will tell u they do not have the mock up layout for u to see

I'm having my AD in jun '09. So initially wanted to change to SSR but the manager told me that it would be undergoing reno during that time. Think they are doing up the rooms one at a time. Anyway I checked ur earlier post you're having ur AD this nov right? so SSR will still be the same cos reno is next year. Katrina, the manager, emailed me the floorplan and layout of the tables for mag/van rooms without any hesitation. So I'm now able to plan where to place the tables to avoid the pillars =)

i thought the Grand Ballroom is pillarless only at the sides? not in the center of the room.

By the way, anyone tried their food? How's the standard? is it really better than other places?

Oh, and which is the Sir Stamford Room? below the Grandballroom level?

Hi, Im actually looking at 8 Dec which is a Monday for dinner.

I think Hyatt is good in regards to the corkage, but what they offer in the package doesn't seem quite comprehensive. Only 1 LCD is provided & can only choose that between beer. Which is both required... Hmmm....
