Hi hotmailiw,

how much does a wedding cost depends very much on how you want it to be. It can be as simple as just a soleminzation ceremony with family members only or the usual of having a bigger scale banquet dinner/lunch.

typically if you are looking at the latter, definitely the banquet costs most.
other services that can costs may of course include the pre-wedding photoshoot.

When is your AD and have you plan on how big/small scale would you want your wedding to be?

actually if you factor in the angpaos and cash gifts you will get, a wedding is not really that expensive. just make sure per head you spend on the banquet is lesser than your expected ang pao per person... then you are quite covered for the banquet. the rest will probably be the pre-wedding photoshoot (anything from $3.5k-6/7k), dowry, and some other misc stuff for actual day preps. i would say out of pocket will probably be about $15-20k (excluding honeymoon).

I have heard my frens in church gaining at least $10k from a wedding. :)
He had lunch buffet in the church, only gotten AD photography, no video and saved on other stuff (bridal car is from his fren's), etc

If banquet need to pay at least $3000 (worst case scenario) out of own pocket, I would say wedding cost less than $10k.

And honeymoon is another matter. Up to you to decide how much you wanna fork out.

And I'm not expecting to even gain money from my wedding. Not counting on that. To gain $10k is a lot! Maybe more for reception but not so for wedding dinners.

I'm not sure how much he has spent though. from his wedding I learnt that you can actually earn from it. He had a dinner with close family and relatives. Honeymoon is definitely separate. Cheers!

 IMO, i feel that one should not think of earning from the wedding. because a wedding is never a money-making opportunity. It's better to have spare to cover for expenses.
count it as luck if you are able to cover. and extremely lucky if you have spare at the end of everything.

Hi everyone, i'm new here, planning for my 2015, so just getting a headstart... hehe..

How much budget do you usually set aside for the pre-wedding dinner stuff? like photography and other prep stuff?

Hi sunshinechoo..

congrats! cost of ur PS will depend on what package u signed up with which bridal. can range from 3-5K or even higher, not including the extra photos to top up.
then followed by a lot of misc stuff which will then snowball to an amt too. e.g. jiemei/xiong di's clothes, GDL items etc...

generally, depends on how big/small scale you want it to be. even banquet too - non-refundable deposits...

Hi Yilingang, thanks for Sharing!! :)

Usually photos take up a huge budget, but some of my friends have been asking friends who are into photography to help them out, and they are able to save. My partner and i are not very particular about photos, and definitely don't want to spend huge amounts to fly overseas to do Pre-W photo shoot.

Any thoughts on this?

Do you have any contacts?
