Hoods and Hobs

Does anyone has any recommendations on hoods and hobs?
What should I be looking out for? Does higher suction power means better?

You got to try the hoods by switching it on and use a piece of paper to test the suction. I have tried this for some brands and I find that Ariston/Deliza are really powerful. TEKA came in second. I think a brand called E/F can't really suck the piece of paper though it got a good suction power rating. That's my 2 cents.

Hi Vincent, you can search in this forum for the bellari brand. It is known that Bellari hoods can suck up a piece of wood leaving it hanging mid-air.

hi winterbabylon, interrace,

since the bellari hood is so powerful, does it also mean that it will consume more electricity than those that can only suck up a piece of paper?

btw, do u already have the hood installed at your place? how is it?

really wondering if my hair will kana sucked up if i stand too close given that i have fairly long hair :p

Wow...900m3/hr?....I hope I dun get suck into it boy !!...heee...anyway sounds impressive...will go and check it out...

Have anyone heard of Fujioh? Is it recommended by anyone? They claim that they have done a PSB testing and they can achieve to suck up 82% of the fumes at 550 m3/hr suction...is that impressive?...not too sure what is the specification for Bellari?

Found it quite sufficient.
I dun cook much but when i do it really helps to suck up the smoke..

Hi Shellfish,
How much did u get the Fujioh hood and hob? Is it the slim fit kind or chimney hood kind? how do u find it so far?

the deal that bellari is still offering at $799. But the hoods and hobs are normal/standard grade. If you want better grade, you need to top up.

anyway, the package is very flexible.choose your own combi and get a better discounted deal.

our living room kitchen is very near the kitchen. Was rather weary that cooking fumes and smell could flood into it. Fortunately didn't happen - thanks the the super suction of my Bellari hood; it really lives up to it's reputation. Thanks to forumners recommendations!

hi nick talk about franke, we have been around and find that prices quoted by ray from asia excel @ imm is still the best. even the well known jalan besar cannot match. maybe u should visit their shop one day.

Where is the Bellari showroom?
Secondly, where is a good place to view and compare various hoods and hobs?

Yup, i saw this brand aerogas but it had little appeal to me since there were those little steel bars on the hob so it makes cleaning diffcult.
I prefer those which are flat other than the stoves.
I recommend TEKA or Rinnai.
Cos my parent's house is using teka brand and have been using it for more than 5 years and the flame is till as good as ever.
Rinnai is valuye for money and has been around since donkey years.
Some more it is a Japanese brand(heheh...for people for believe in the quality of japanese products.

Was trying to figure out if buying teka or rinnai was good, as i though that Teka being a european brand had more design and sleek features, but i was wrong,
Rinnai has also very sleek designs...
try the new stainless steel range.
IT looks a lot like electolux

Rinnai, Teka & Technogas - which has cheaper packages? Where should I buy? Or should I ask the contractor to supply? Soem contractors got own source, but dunno price cheap or not ley...

Hi Astrogirl,

If they have package (i know Rinnai has it) then the price quoted by your contractor would be the same. But if u getting it yourself then u can get it slightly cheaper from other shops. Best to take a look at the hobs and hoods at citigas cos the promotion would usually be displayed there. I decided on Rinnai after spending about an hour at citigas. I could get it slightly cheaper fr Goh Ah Bee but decided to get it from the contractor doing up my kitchen cabinets.

I got it from a shop at jalan besar after looking at some shops.
3 burners on a flat stainless steel hob with a grey hood with good suction power. all for $460 inclusive of delivery.

sunnyday: not sure why you got it from contractor since your contractor will still install the hood and hob for you after they have finished up with the cabinets.

Hi sniper,

cos my kitchen cabinet done by another contractor. The rest of the house is done by another contractor. Had to co-ordinate the timing so might as well let it be handled by the kitchen cabinet contractor otherwise i had to wait for the shop to deliver the hood and hob. Just $50 difference so ok la

I had bought a Teka hood cost about 430 but later found that it not suitable for my new house. Thinking of selling it for about 330 or less. Anyone interested. It is those kind of traditional hood not chimney type and model is TL 92 about 90 cm in length. I will deliver to your place depend on location.

Hi everyone i went down to Bellari showroom this afternoon and seen the suction power of the hood for the piece of wood..Actually i feel that the demostration is not as wonderful cos i think we have learn it in science last time in school..I cant remember the term but somehow i feel is not the suction power of the hood that caused the wood to stuck to the hood.ANy comments?

Hi stress_man, I don't know much about this science stuff but I believe that in order for a hood to hold such a heavy piece of wood the motor must be spinning at a reasonable speed right? Once I tried it out at my sister's new home with a board roughly the same. Didn't hold, better not mention the brand lah. Didn't regret buying Bellari. Anyone can share their experience?

Hi does your sister hood also having the suction power as Bellari one? Unless u have tried other brands of hood with suction powe as Bellari, then maybe u can conclude that Bellari hood is indeed diff..Anyway i was also attracted to Bellari not due to the demostration but the price more ..

hi stressman,
oh actually bellari and some other brands such as Cuizino has similar designs..i'll be getting the cuizino ones since the price is cheaper than bellari.

Yes stress_man my sis uses Delizia. Suction power almost inexistant and the replacement charcoal filter is quite ex. For me, I get Bellari coming to my place to change the charcoal filters every year; cool and I just need to pay 50 bucks for the filter while the service/transport charge is free!

Hi joyousonline, do ask for LED lights instead of halogen lights on the hoods. They are not hot and uses much less electricity. Halogen 50W and LED lights 2W only. Cheers!
