Hi all,

I would like to check with you on Disneyland HK.

Are those rides FOC or you gotta pay HK$ station by station? Can share with me some info? Thx!

Also, how about the meals in Disneyland? Are they very exp? Cos my first day will be in Lantau Island due to a promo by Cathay Pacific, so i am thinking that i may not have an opp to get cheaper food elsewhere...

Pls advise, thanks a mil!!!

Cheerios!

Hi Mary,

The rides in disneyland are free.
Regarding the meals I'm not sure as i didn't eat there but the bottle drinks like soya milk is HK$15, orange juice is HK$22. So you can estimate the cost of the food.
You can have your meals in Lantau Island before going over disneyland. Isn't the first day you are going?

Hi lili05,

Thanks for replying me!! =D

Its my first time going HK and Lantau Island is my first stop. I dunno which part of the island sells good food except Disneyland (which i think will be very exp)..

Hi Mary,

There's vegetarian food in Lantau Island when you visit the big Buddha. (donno are you comfortable with it?) Access to the Buddha itself is free, entering the museum(where you hv to climb up the stairs to reach)inside requires a meal ticket for the vegetarian restaurant; full meals are $60 (normal) or $100 (deluxe). For HK100 is a table by yourself & HK60 is a big table like you go for wedding dinner, sharing with other people. They have about 5 dishes + 1 soup. If not wrong, besides the restaurant there's something like hawker center, maybe can get your food there too, can't remember much. They have stall selling kueh also.

Hi Mary,

The food at Disney is not that ex. Average out about SGD$10 per meal (excluding drinks which can be ex). Suggest you use top-up plain water from the drink fountain. I would recommend that you spend a full day at Disney so that you have ample time for the ride especially for the kids. Note that you need to give time allowance for queuing up (which most time is spent). To avoid the crowd and shorter queue, try to be there before 11am and avoid weekends. The fireworks at 8pm is worth the wait.

Ya, Disneyland is good. Why not staying inside Disneyland hotel to save your transportation cost and I think the hotel rate is competitive with the hotel outside Disneyland in HK.

You can take many cute photos inside Disneyland hotel. It has two hotels actually and with different themes. You can choose your favourite one to stay. And there is a free pass to play in Disneyland too, no need to pay the entrance fee. However, it will be crowdy in lunar new year.

hi, is there anywhere stated on the website that there's free pass to Disneyland if we book either hotel?
coz right now the promotion stated for hotel guests, free 1 day if buy 1 day ticket (so become 2 days).. that means not free with the room, right?

hi mic12..hollywood is cheaper and is recommended by lots of forumers who have stayed there b4. U can book the hotel via zuji.com.s website cos I found their price the cheapest among a few hotel reservation websites.

hi m1rr0r.. the promotion only applies if u book their hotel anytime from now till september. it is stated in the disneyland's HK website & some hotel reservation websites. But I cant remember the website address anymore. Sorry about it.

Hi oreo

Disneyland hotel is definitely nearer to disneyland. This is believe to be one of the reason why disneyland hotel is pricer than hollywood hotel..

Hi,

Just to share our experience. We just went to HK disneyland last week. Just went there for a visit, didn't stay at disneyland hotel. We took the Mtr there and found it pretty convenient. There's a special disney train that will pick the guest from sunway bay (normal mtr station).

On the whole, we felt that HK disneyland is quite small. It only has 3 'worlds' /theme. We went to tokyo disney previously and its around 3-4 times larger than HK one.

But Hk disneyland is definitely less crowded. Only 3-4 rides has the fastpass function. So we queued for the other rides, but queueing time is ok, just 20-30mins each. The place is pretty clean. We didn't encounter any spitting or litters etc.

Most of their shows are bi-lingual (cantonese / english), where some are like 2pm for cantonese and 2.30 for english. So have to take note of the languages if going for shows.

For those bringing their kids, stitch encounter is pretty interesting. The stitch will actually interact with the kids. Adventures of winnie the pooh, is also quite ok for young kids, where you sit in the moving slow cart and taken on a storybook ride.

The rides that we think is quite interesting are space mountain (something like roller-coaster in the dark)and buzz lightyr astroblaster (where you can aim and shoot the target).

Mickey philarmagic is a 3D or 4D show. Pretty nice show. The effects are quite real that we saw quite a number of adults (including myself) putting their hands infront of them trying to grab the gems or something. hee..

For those who loved taking pic with the cartoon characters, you can try 'fantasy gardens'. We took with mickey, minnie, chip&dale, winnie the pooh and goofy over there.

'Festival of the Lion King' is quite nice. Its like a musical show with dancers, singing, stage movements, and some fire performance.

Lastly, do stay for the fireworks at 8pm. Its really very nice and romantic. Not sure of the duration, but it lasted for quite some time.

Hi Rachel, how are you? Have not visited this forum for quite some time. I will be going HK again. Will be staying in Ashley again and last 2 days in Disney Hollywood. Previously we stayed in Disneyland Hotel. This time, we will try out Hollywood one. Hopefully it wont disappoint us!

HK Disney is very small and all attractions can be completed in less than one day.Besides 2 of the most interesting rides are out of action and there is no parade!Compared to Disneyland Paris it is just a waste of time .There is no thrill and the photo sessions with the Disney characters are neither well organised nor well monitored so that one person can stay with them for more than 5 mins! There are so many other things to do in HK!!
